Seonghwa inhaled slowly as he stretched on the bed.
He couldn't remember the last time he slept through the night like that. It was an amazing feeling.
Then he remembered why, and his eyes flew open. He looked down to see Wooyoung still nestled into his side and his heart swelled.
Last night had actually happened. As twisted as part of it was... Wooyoung had accepted his apology and had agreed to play his father's twisted game.
Hopefully they wouldn't have to do that for long.
Seonghwa reached a hand up and brushed the blonde hair from Wooyoung's eyes and watched him sleep. He looked so peaceful, like had had a restful night of sleep too.
Then the younger let out a small sound that had Seonghwa biting his lip to hold back either the laughter or any cooing sound he wanted to make.
He knew he would protect Wooyoung with his life after last night.
A knock at his front door sent his heart racing and Seonghwa quickly grabbed the rope sitting on his nightstand.
Wooyoung was jostled away and reached up to rub his eyes. "Hwa?" He asked in a raspy, morning voice that normally would have driven Seonghwa instead.
But he ignored it and grabbed the younger's hands, quickly tying them together and then attaching them to the headboard.
"I'm sorry baby." Seonghwa whispered as he grabbed the gag and shoved it in Wooyoung's mouth as he heard footsteps getting closer.
He didn't miss the sad but accepting look in Wooyoung's eyes as he pushed the boy down onto the bed. Then he positioned them so it looked like they were still sleeping, and that Seonghwa had fallen asleep hugging his toy.
Another knock came from his bedroom door and it was pushed open. A low chuckle came a second later. "Son."
Seonghwa faked a yawn and sat up, rubbing the side of his head. "Father? What time is it?"
"It's still early, but I need you today. We need to start planning our next hit. Meet me by the lift as soon a you can." The man's eyes flicked to Wooyoung. "If you leave him like that he will be ready for you when you come back." He chuckled and left the room.
Well there goes any idea of Seonghwa letting Wooyoung be comfortable. He turned to the younger and saw his forehead creased with concern. "I'm so sorry..." he reached up and checked on the knots. "That was his way of saying he's going to send someone to check up on you. I figured he would still test me a little bit after last night. It's probably more to make sure that you don't escape while we are gone..."
He pulled out the gag for a moment and caressed the side of Wooyoung's face. "It's ok, I understand." Wooyoung whispered, leaning into the touch and closing his eyes.
Seonghwa felt his heart break. Wooyoung shouldn't have to suffer like this for him. It wasn't fair. Life could be so cruel and twisted...
"I promise I'm going to get you out of here. I just need to earn my father's trust completely. Maybe I can even figure out what he's planning so that the others know and we can figure out how to take him down."
"That sounds like a good plan. Just... Be careful." Wooyoung's honey colored eyes fixed on his. "And hurry back to me. Not just so you can untie me again." He added with a small smirk.
The older sucked in a breath and leaned forward to connect their lips. He still couldn't believe how good it felt to kiss Wooyoung after all this time. All the dancing they had done, all the pain he had caused by trying to push Wooyoung away, none of hit mattered now.
Their lips seemed to fit together perfectly as they moved in sync. Their tongues twisted together, trying to convey everything they were feeling for each other in that exact moment.
Seonghwa hated for it to end... But he knew his father was waiting. So he pulled back and kissed Wooyoung's forehead before making sure he was comfortable.
He adjusted the ropes a little bit so the younger could relax his arms and turn when needed. Then, with one final kiss, he slipped the gag back into Wooyoung's mouth before tying it tightly behind his head.
"I love you. I'll be back as soon as I can." Seonghwa whispered before slipping off the bed and stepping into the closet to dress and change.
He gave Wooyoung one last worried look before leaving the room. The younger just nodded a couple of times.
Seonghwa didn't deserve him.
The older hurried from the room and put on a show of locking his door before walking the maze of tunnels to the lift.
His father was talking with a few different men over in the corner. They were all hunched over what looked like a set of blueprints and there was a sense of urgency to their tone.
But it ended as soon as Seonghwa's father looked up. "Ah, Son, there you are."
"Mercer, I'm serious. You can't go into this without taking precautions!" One of the men urged, pointing at the paper again.
"And we will. I'm putting you in charge of it." His father snapped. "Get started! We need to do this by the end of the week."
The men nodded and hurried away.
Mercer turned and faced his son with a proud smile on his face. "Now. Let's get you out fitted, and I will fill you in on what the plan is. I want to get you some custom gear, so we need to go up to the forge for that."
Seonghwa had to work hard to keep his face even as he nodded. But on the inside his heart was racing. If he was going to the surface, that meant he could get a signal out to Yeosang.
He needed to be smart about this though. He didn't have the commands of the bracelet memorized, so it wouldn't be as simple as being able to do it behind his back.
It would take time and precision.
The lift sped up the however hundred feet deep they were and Seonghwa flinched when he got the first look at sunlight.
"You'll get used to it." His father patted his shoulder twice before leading him to the workstations.
The next hour or so was spent getting all of Seonghwa's measurements. His father wasn't joking when he said he wanted to get Seonghwa new gear.
He was getting an entire new, lightweight suit with built in bulletproof, tearproof, and burnproof material.
Where his father got this material, he had no idea... And it worried him. He desperately wanted to know what the man was planning.
After he was measured and was promised it would be delivered later that day, Seonghwa was taken to the weapon area.
He couldn't help but be impressed by what he was shown. The Wolf Pack had managed to get their hands on all of the latest gear. He ran his fingers over a sniper riffle that came with laser guidance and a built-in silencer. It also had the most advanced scope on the market.
"I knew you'd like that one." His father said, stepping up to stand next to him. "I also made sure we had a few good handguns available and we can custom made you some knives and a sword for when we go hand to hand."
"What is it that we are going to be doing, Father?" Seonghwa finally asked, turning to face him.
Mercer studied him for a long moment. Seonghwa knew he was looking for any sign of betrayal or weakness, but he had perfected his mask long ago.
"There is a research facility to the north of here that has been working on developing a new particle. I don't know all the details of it yet, but the rumor mill says it could be revolutionary. My source inside the facility believes it may be something that will benefit us greatly."
"North of here... So you mean?"
"Yes, it's remained outside of our control. That's why it's going to be so dangerous. They have a couple hundred armed guards on the grounds at all times." Mercer turned and they started to walk.
Seonghwa tried to come up with ideas as to what this particle could possibly be, but he was coming up empty. If scientists were creating it, then he figured it could be a cure for disease, but that was already pretty much taken care of. "What do you think it is?"
"If my source is correct. I think..." His father got a wicked grin on his face. "I think it's going to change our future for the better. I've been doing research and gathering everything I need. This particle is the last step."
"Gathering material? Is that why you robbed the bank?"
His father laughed. "We had no intention of robbing it. That was actually a test on the safe door. I wanted to know just how strong that metal was. Only the strongest one can be used for what I need."
Seonghwa let out a harsh sigh. "Why are you dancing around the subject? Have I not proven myself to you?"
"All in good time my boy. If this mission goes well then I will tell you everything." Mercer said, nodding to Seonghwa once before walking away.
The sniper sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
He had one more stop to make, and that was to go over the kind of side gear he would need.
But he realized that he was alone at the moment and there was no one around him.
Seonghwa quickly pulled up his bracelet, walking over to hide behind a wall. He flicked through the options to call up a tracking signal, then he went back to the call feature.
"Can anyone hear me?" He asked, looking around urgently. "Hello? Please, someone answer."
A ping answered him and he could hear some static in response, so he gave it a moment.
"Seonghwa?!" Yeosang's voice came through.
"Yes! Can you hear me?"
"I can now." The hacker sounded so relieved. "I'm locking into your signal now. Are you ok? Where is Wooyoung?"
"Yeosang, I don't have a lot of time. I need you to lock into my position. It's where the Wolf Pack headquarters are now. But they go deep underground. That's where Wooyoung is. Don't worry he is as safe as he can be." Seonghwa paused and listened.
"I've got your location." Yeosang said. "Man, we would have never found this place on our own..."
"It's heavily guarded, there's now way the team could get here. The entire Pack is here. But now you know where we are. Keep an eye out, my father is planning something for the end of the week. He wants to hit a research facility up north. If you can get word to them that would be great. He's working on something... But he won't tell me what it is. He doesn't trust me enough yet."
"That may be easier said than done... A lot has happened Seonghwa." Yeosang said hesitantly.
Seonghwa was about to ask what he meant, but he heard footsteps. "I need to go. Be in touch as soon as I can." He hung up the phone and pulled his sleeve down over his wrist before running to the other side of the wall and taking the long way back.
He slipped back into the chaos of the warehouse without anyone noticing he had even vanished.

Wooyoung passed the time by trying to sleep. He had tried testing Seonghwa's knots, thinking he could do his own thing until someone showed up and he would slip back into them, but the older was too good at his job.
So he faded in and out of consciousness all day.
At one point, he heard footsteps outside the bedroom door. He worked to control his breathing as he let his head rest against his arm and pretended to be asleep.
"Make this quick." A woman's voice said, sounding bored.
"Don't worry. Mercer is just testing his son." A man answered.
"Why? It's his son."
"Because he's been running with cops ever since mercer forced him to kill that innocent. That's what caused the idiot to turn himself in. Mercer doesn't believe he in fully with us yet. And this boy is one of the tests. If Seonghwa shows any sign of weakness toward him, it's game over, and Mercer will know he's lying about everything."
Wooyoung's heart stopped. So Seonghwa's theory had been right. It's a good thing they were going along with it. He didn't want to imagine what would happen if these people had shown up and Wooyoung wasn't tied to the bed.
"What does this boy have to do with it?" The girl asked, sounding more interested now.
The man chuckled. "I guess he used to be Mercer's plaything. And he was found at the complex with Seonghwa. If he was a whore, then there's only one reason he'd be there."
The door to the bedroom opened and Wooyoung a steady, even breath.
"I'm impressed. He actually left him tied up. Maybe he is telling the truth." The man said.
"So what happens now, we tell Mercer and Seonghwa is welcomed back officially?" The woman asked as the door was pulled closed.
But they left it cracked so Wooyoung could hear what they were talking about as they left Seonghwa's apartment like area. And it tore him apart...
"Almost. He has one more test to pass with the research facility. Get this, you want to know a secret?"
"Always." The woman laughed.
"You can't tell anyone I told you, but that woman that Seonghwa shot as his final initiation test? That was his own mother."
