Superstar -{IwaOi}

This oneshot does not follow the canon timeskip! Also, I had no idea where I was really going with this, so sorry about that.

Trigger warnings: Swearing, rude songs

Iwaizumi moved to Canada soon after college was over. His English grades were nothing to laugh at and the longer he spent there the better he got.

He had moved to Canada under an apprenticeship, to teach sports to teenagers and, at first, he hated it.

Looking after whiny kids who all expected to be world-famous in a matter of months made him feel like he was dealing with a terrible mix of Oikawa and the ginger from Karasuno High School. But he got used to it. Most of the kids ended up seeing him as a grumpy but pleasant, father-like man. And it probably helped his reputation with the girls at the club that he was young and hot.

He worked at a gym, specifically in a club designed to help young teens find a sport they were interested in and then practise it individually before trying out for more professional centres. It was an odd but well-loved concept. The woman who ran it was friendly and often treated her students and grumpy worker to treats regularly. Iwaizumi had to admit that he secretly saw her as a second mother, since his own was back in Miyagi.

Sadly, there weren't many students at the club and Iwaizumi wasn't really close to them personally. Four girls, five boys, and a child who didn't really want to go by any specific gender. They mostly hanged around the girls.

The first time Iwaizumi really ended up talking to them about something other than sports was when one of the boys came up to him during the club.

"Uh, excuse me, Mr Hajime," He began.

"It's Iwaizumi, actually," Iwaizumi corrected sternly but not rudely. "What's up?"

The boy, Dean, said, "I heard you're from Japan, I was wondering if you knew about 'The Holo-18'?"

"The what?"

Dean shrugged awkwardly. "They're, um, a band in Japan and, uh, they've sort of blown up. I was wondering if you listened to their music."

Iwaizumi shook his head. "Never heard of them."

"Oh, well, I was just wondering because most of their lyrics are in Japanese and I got no clue what they're saying." Dean shrugged. "Well, if you don't know, you don't know." And he walked away.

That was the first time Iwaizumi had heard of 'The Holo-18' and he had forgotten about it in a weeks' time. A month or so after that chat, he was sitting in his office room, door half-closed, scrolling on his phone.

He heard music outside. It sounded like an instrumental part of a song and it was growing closer, with accompanying footsteps.

"God, he's hot, isn't he?" He heard Rissie, one of the girls, say simperingly.

"I love it when he does that drop," Hummed Kayla, her smirk audible.

"Honestly, their manager is cuter," Maxie, the nonbinary, said with a shrug.

"Yeah, but you've got to appreciate that, right?" Risse said. "He's over six foot, too."

Iwaizumi, curiously, turned off his phone to direct his full attention to listening, sipping his coffee thoughtfully. There was something familiar about the guitar playing that he couldn't quite place. The riff was oddly recognisable, but he had never heard this song.

Then the lyrics came through and Iwaizumi spat out his coffee loudly. It was in Japanese and he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He jumped out of his seat, practically crashing through his office door, face bright red, wiping coffee from his chin.

"What the fuck?!" He spluttered in Japanese, making the girls and enby jump in surprise. "What the fuck is that?!"

"Uh, Mr Iwaizumi!" Kayla yelped, turning off her phone and stopping the song mid-line. "What's the matter?"

Iwaizumi tried to regain his composure but he was still definitely in shock. "What the hell were you just listening to?!" He yelled, in English now.

Rissie fiddled her fingers awkwardly. "We were watching a Holo-18 music video. Wh-Why?"

"Let me see," Iwaizumi ordered, knowing very well that the teenagers were probably beginning to guess why he had such a flustered reaction. Kayla turned her phone back on and passed it to him, the screen showing a paused video on Youtube.

The title was translated into Romaji from Japanese symbols, and Iwaizumi felt his face heat up even more at the song name. It was suddenly a very good thing that none of his students spoke a word of Japanese. Hesitantly, he clicked play and the song started again.

Kayla, Rissie and Maxie started muttering amongst themselves awkwardly, nervously guessing what the song was about, when Kayla whispered, a little too loudly, that, "He's so gonna judge us once the band come back on screen."

Iwaizumi stared at the screen, now dumbstruck as well as embarrassed. In the video, three Japanese men, around his age, were on an empty stage set, wearing holographic outfits were playing the song. One had short, pinkish hair, strumming a guitar, one had cropped, curly black hair, hitting a set of drums hard, and the other had dreamy, floaty locks of hazelnut brown hair, swinging around a microphone pole. The guitarist had a pastel button-up shirt underneath a holographic, checkered jacket and tight, black jeans. The drummer was wearing holographic trousers and was missing a shirt. The singer was wearing a cropped, baby blue sweater that floated around his midriff and a holographic mini skirt. They were, without a doubt, Hanamaki, Matsukawa and Oikawa.

"You're fucking kidding me," Iwaizumi whispered, pausing the video. The teenagers waited for him to scold them for listening to such music but, instead, he pulled his own phone out of his pocket, and googled something. "Oh my god."

"Wh-What? What is it?" Rissie asked, stepping protectively in front of Maxie.

"I fucking know those three, dammit!" Iwaizumi said, googling Holo-18's' band members just to make sure. "We went to high school together, played volleyball. I literally grew up with Oikawa, what the hell?!"

The three exchanged a very surprised look and Iwaizumi scrolled through several fanpages to check. Yep. Those were definitely his old teammates. He handed Kayla back her phone and made a phone call instantly.

He had always kept Oikawa's' number but hadn't texted him for years. He had honestly waited for Oikawa to start bothering him, and even when that day didn't come, he still refused to delete it.

The call was picked up. "Yahoo?"

"Tooru Oikawa!" Iwaizumi said loudly, in Japanese. "Why the hell didn't you tell me that you, Makki and Matsun have a band and why wasn't I invited, dammit?"

Oikawa gasped. "Iwa-chan! It's been so long!"

"I- You- The hell is up with that song, dammit? I was in my office one second and then I was hearing you singing about hardcore sex! Are all your songs like that?"

"Why?" Said Oikawa in a teasing turn. "Did it turn you on, Iwa-chan~?"

Iwaizumi's' face grew even redder. "You- I can't believe you. Dammit, you are coming to Canada right now and explaining everything to me."

Oikawa laughed. "What?"

"You heard me! Makki and Matsun are coming with you, Shittykawa, and we're gonna meet up and you're gonna explain!"

"Okay, okay, whatever you say, Iwa-chan," Oikawa promised. "You're gonna send me your address and we'll be there soon, okay?"

Iwaizumi put his spare hand on his hip. "Yes, you will. And we can grab some coffee. And I am still in shock."

"Did you call me without a plan, Iwa-chan?"

"No. Maybe. Yes. Shut up, shittykawa. Just, come and see me. I... I've kinda missed you."

There was silence on the other line and Iwaizumi could just see Oikawa slowly starting to smile softly. "I've missed you too, Iwa..." Oikawa said gently. "I'll go tell my manager to schedule an emergency trip to wherever you are."

"No press or announcements or shit, got it?"

"No, sir! It shall be a completely private and confidential trip."

Iwaizumi smirked. "It better be, Loserkawa. And I better see you soon."

The call ended and Iwaizumi sent the address through. Oikawa replied with a silly emoji.

"What was that about?" Kayla asked nosily, making Iwaizumi jolt in surprise. He had forgotten they were there.

"I was just calling Oikawa," Iwaizumi said. "Told him to come visit me because that piece of crap hasn't popped by in years."

Maxie gasped. "You can't just talk about Tooru Oikawa like that!" They protested. "He's, like, a god!"

Iwaizumi shrugged. "Well, to me, he's always gonna be a whiny piece of crap that I'm gonna put up with."

"Wait, what do you mean he's gonna come and visit?" Rissie asked. "Can he come here?"

Iwaizumi smirked and shrugged. "I don't think I'm planning on dragging my best friend to my job, but we're gonna find out."

.:*:.

"Hey, Mrs Elizabeth," Iwaizumi said as he finished packing up equipment with his boss a few days after the call. "Do you mind if I bring some old friends of mine here soon?"

"Old friends?" Elizabeth echoed. "Are they from Japan too?"

Iwaizumi nodded. "They're gonna pop by for a catch up. I wanted to show them where I work and stuff."

Elizabeth smiled. "I don't mind, Iwaizumi, dear. Feel free to invite whoever you want. Are they the sporting type too?"

"They were when I knew them," Iwaizumi said.

As he left the gym, he found Dean looking curious and expectant. "Who's coming from Japan?" He asked nosily.

"My friends," Iwaizumi retorted. "They said they wanted to see what I was doing with myself, so they're gonna come here when they get to Canada."

Dean looked like he wanted to press for more questions but decided against it. He ran over to the other boys and told them what he knew. Iwaizumi smiled after them. Oikawa hated kids. This was gonna be fun.

.:*:.

It was a Saturday afternoon and everyone had turned up. No one was late because today was when Iwaizumi's' mystery friends from Japan would come by. Rissie, Kayla and Maxie told everyone that they would really want to be there for it, and it turned out all of them were fans of Holo-18. Not that they knew for sure who was going to be turning up.

Iwaizumi waited nervously in the gym for their arrival. Since he had ordered Oikawa, Makki and Matsun to visit him, he had been texting Oikawa non-stop to sort it all out but he still hadn't seen any of them face to face for years. Honestly, he was kind of scared.

The video he had caught Maxie and the girls watching was quite old. They must look different now.

The gym doors opened and he heard Rissie make a sound like she was dying. Naturally, Iwaizumi looked up and saw his three friends walking into the gym, looking like they owned the place and the world was lucky that they existed at the same time as them. Makki still had his silly pink hair but it was a little longer, and he was wearing baggy jeans, a flannel jacket and combat boots. Matsun had his arm slung around him, wearing a matching outfit, just his jacket was tied lazily around his hips. Oikawa hadn't seemed to change. He was a little taller and seemed to have a regal aura to him, but that was it. He still looked the same, in skintight blue jeans and a pastel pink sweater which had a pearly-white collar peeking out from the neck.

Oikawa looked around the room expectantly, then spotted Iwaizumi and his face lit up with a familiar beam and he ran over, jumping at Iwaizumi with an ecstatic squeal and tackling him into a hug.

"It's been so long, Iwa-chan! Oh, my, you've gotten so much stronger!" Oikawa rambled, picking up his arm and examining his bicep. "Damn, that's nice, that's very nice. And here I thought you would've gotten a little weaker. Ooh, do you think you could pick me up? Pick me up, it'll be so hot!"

"Chill, 'Kawa," Matsun said, casually strolling over and pushing the ex-captain out of the way lightly, ignoring Oikawa's' squeal of protest. He and Iwaizumi nodded respectfully at each other before bursting out with a grin and hugging each other tightly. Matsun thumped Iwaizumi on the back. "Good to see you're still ace material. God, you never should've left us, Oikawa's' driving us up the wall!"

Makki shoved Matsun aside and pointed at Iwaizumi. "Arm wrestle! Now! I wanna challenge you!"

"Not even a 'Hello, Iwaizumi, how are you'?" Joked Iwaizumi, with a wide grin. "But if you insist!"

Makki nodded. "I shall not let you beat me! Here, this beam, we go!" Makki marched over to a long beam that Maxie used for their gymnastic warm-ups and ducked underneath it, setting his arm up for Iwaizumi to join him.

It took a few brief moments for Iwaizumi to win and Makki groaned. "God, I really hoped you'd have stopped working out. Anyway, hi, Iwaizumi, how are you?"

"Eh, I'm doing fine!" Iwaizumi grunted.

Matsun nudged Oikawa and loudly said, "Stop drooling, Oikawa, it's just a ripped Iwaizumi."

Oikawa made a funny noise. "I am not drooling! I am appreciating! There's a difference."

"Uh, Mr Iwaizumi," Kayla said, voice quiet as she looked up at the four. "What's going on?"

Iwaizumi blinked. He didn't even notice that he and his friends were speaking in Japanese and no one else in the room could. He cleared his throat and turned to Kayla. "Kayla, these are my friends. Oikawa, Hanamaki and Matsukawa. I found out they got famous without me and decided to bother them. It was a big mistake because now Oikawa is here and I forgot how whiny he was."

"Iwa-chan!" Oikawa said, in almost perfect time, coming up behind him and slinging himself around Iwaizumi's' neck. "I want a hug! It's been too long! Iwa-chan, you got so hot, you gotta hug me!"

"What? Why do I have to hug you for being hot?!" Iwaizumi yelped, pushing him off.

Oikawa stumbled away unsteadily. "Hey, careful, Iwa-chan! I'm wearing heels! Don't push a man wearing heels, he could twist an ankle."

Iwaizumi raised a sceptical eyebrow. "Those heels aren't even that big."

"Actually, no, he does have a point, Iwaizumi," Matsun said, giving Iwaizumi a sympathetic look. "Last year, I shoved him around a bit too much while he was wearing them and then the heel snapped and he twisted his ankle. Kiyoko, our manager, was furious, she looked like she wanted to kill me."

"Not to mention you ruined his favourite pair," Makki added. "I think 'Kawa was mad at you for weeks. We had to get them repaired!"

"Hey, what are you talking about?!" Rissie yelled loudly, finally getting Holo-18 to stop messing around and realise that they weren't alone in the room.

Oikawa sidled up to Iwaizumi and whispered, "You didn't tell me there would be kids. Or that I'd have to speak English."

Iwaizumi looked at him and said, in English, "You're gonna have to speak English, Shittykawa, or I'll find a volleyball and throw it at your head."

"Ooh, are we bullying Oikawa?" Makki said excitedly, jumping into the conversation and speaking fluently in English. "I love this game. Hey, 'Kawa, you're skinny!" Matsun and Oikawa raised an eyebrow and he shrugged. "Look, I don't know very good English insults. Just because I can speak it well doesn't mean I know how to insult people."

Oikawa made a face. "I am not speaking English and I do not like kids," He decided stubbornly.

Matsun snuck up behind him and picked Oikawa up high in the air, ignoring the screams. "Iwaizumi!" He yelled, in English, over the high-pitched screaming. "Is there a pool that I can throw Oikawa into, like that one time in Seijoh, when he stole my bento box?"

Iwaizumi pointed. "First left out of the corridor, you can't miss it."

"No! No! I'll speak English, don't throw me in the pool, dammit, Matsun!" Oikawa yelled, thrashing around.

"Ah, the bitch has decided to grow up," Matsun sighed, sitting Oikawa down on the ground, the singer pouting up at him grumpily.

Maxie, who was hiding behind Rissie, peeked their head out nervously. "Mr Iwaizumi, sir, why is Holo-18 here?"

Iwaizumi smiled at them. "They're old friends of mine. I still had Shittykawa's' number so I told him to come visit me."

"'Told me' is just a nicer way of saying threatened to abduct me if I didn't show up," Grumbled Oikawa, picking himself up off the ground and adjusting his glasses. He brushed his hair out of his face and Iwaizumi suddenly became conscious of how beautiful he looked with the cold Canadian sun lighting his hair as its' light drifted through the windows, and he became suddenly aware of how his lovely brown eyes were dazzling and enchanting. To sum it up, Iwaizumi suddenly realised just how beautiful Oikawa had become in their years apart.

Oikawa accidentally met his eyes and they looked away quickly, both blushing like mad.

"Oya?" Matsun said, sliding up behind Iwaizumi with a grin on his face.

"Oya, oya?" Makki said, nudging Oikawa in the ribs.

Iwaizumi punched Matsun in the gut and Oikawa stepped on Makki's' foot.

"Will you two ever grow up?" Grubted Iwaizumi.

Oikawa sighed. "They just don't, they're constantly being such meanies!"

Matsun shrugged. "I mean, we grew up enough to do this." And he showed his hand. There was a beautiful, pale gold ring on his finger and a matching one on Makki's'.

Iwaizumi stared. "No way."

Makki stopped hopping around on one foot and shrugged, trying to casually blow it off, despite the happy gleam in his eyes and the pink on his cheeks. "Yeah, Matsun decided to be mature and, well, we're sort of engaged."

"Sort of?" Frowned Matsun.

"Yeah, Matsun got all romantic about it," Oikawa said, trying to subtly slide the conversation into Japanese. "Took Makki out to a really expensive restaurant, then a private boat ride and proposed with the moon behind him and stuff. Makki cried."

"One," Makki said, still in English. "How do you know all that? Two, don't try turn the conversation Japanese, you little sneak. And, three, you've got a bunch of kids behind you."

Instantly, Oikawa jumped and spun around to see the ten teenagers Iwaizumi worked with standing behind him, with wide eyes and starstruck expressions. He turned to look at his three friends for help, but Matsun shrugged, Iwaizumi snickered and Makki just pushed him forwards.

Oikawa blinked down at the teenagers. "Um, hi," He greeted.

Dean looked up at him. "You're so much taller in real life, dude!"

"I-I'm only a little bit over six foot normally and, I mean, I'm wearing heels-"

"You look so weird without holographic clothes," Kayla said brightly. "I mean, it's your whole thing, you look so different without it!"

"Uh, is that good-?"

Rissie ran up and shook Oikawa's' hand vigorously. "I gotta say, Mr Oikawa, sir, I speak no Japanese but your music is amazing!"

The four Japanese men all laughed awkwardly. "Um, thanks," Oikawa said.

Maxie looked up at him in awe behind Rissie and stammered over their words before saying in a small voice, "I like your shoes."

"Oh, no," Makki groaned. "Fashion."

Oikawa instantly seemed to light up. "Really? Thank you! They were, like, fifty thousand yen but no biggie, totally worth it! I must say, I love your sweater! It's absolutely adorable! So, they, them, right? What's your name?"

Maxie went pink and they fiddled with the sleeves of their sweater which had the nonbinary flag printed across its' entire surface. "It's, um, it's Maxie..."

Oikawa grinned. "That's so cool! You've got such a cool name, Maxie-chan! Mine's Tooru, that's a boring name. Not to mention, I have loads of rainbow clothes but because rainbows are, like, everywhere, no one picks up on it and they all think it's, like, my vibe, which it totally is, but y'know," He sighed and turned to Iwaizumi, saying in Japanese, "Did that make any sense?"

Iwaizumi shrugged. "Think so."

In all honesty, he hadn't really been paying attention. The moment Oikawa's' face lit up at the mention of his shoes, Iwaizumi had gotten lost in his head. A weird, irrational idea had popped up in his head of Oikawa looking at him like that, for some random, crazy reason. It wasn't like he wanted that to happen. He was not at all interested in the beautiful man looking delighted and happy just by his mere presence. Because it would be weird to think about your oldest friend like that.

"It seems like Oikawa has finally met a kid he can tolerate," Matsun said, in Japanese, breaking Iwaizumi from his thoughts.

"Huh?"

Matsun raised an eyebrow at him as if knowing what Iwaizumi had been thinking about, but didn't tease him. Instead, he just nodded in the direction of Oikawa and Maxie, where Oikawa was promising to buy Maxie some amazing outfits. "They complimented his shoes one time and he's already prepared to adopt them."

"Yeah, he is," Iwaizumi said, with a small, fond smile as he looked at Oikawa.

Matsun smirked and casually drawled, "You know, he's been pretty lonely recently. With Makki and I being a couple, he's been feeling like a third wheel. Needs a good, close friend."

Iwaizumi gave him a stern look. "Well, I hope he finds one."

"He's been really, really excited to see you, y'know," Matsun said. "Really looked forward to it, talked nonstop about all the things he remembered about you for ages and he remembered pretty much everything."

"He gets excited about everything," Iwaizumi sniffed, brushing it off.

Matsun sighed, giving up. "Well, until you fancy stepping up and being a man, I ain't gonna help, buddy. Also, you're invited to the wedding. We can fly you down to Japan."

"You don't have to, I'll book my own flight," Iwaizumi promised. "It's your wedding, you shouldn't have to bring your guest to it."

"Hey, Iwa-chan!" Oikawa called up from the floor, in English. "Is there somewhere we could play volleyball?"

.:*:.

"Okay," Makki said with a grumpy look on his face. "I don't think this is entirely fair."

They were going to play a two-on-two and Oikawa and Iwaizumi were on the same team. Harley, one of the boys Iwaizumi worked with had fetched all the balls for them. It turned out that the five boys who attended the club were all huge fans of volleyball, even if they weren't very good. Despite that, they often tried to play on the court and made Iwaizumi make up for the odd players - funnily enough, they always put him in a defensive position instead of an attacking position, because they never asked if he could spike. That was probably a good thing. Iwaizumi didn't want to hit any sets that weren't from Oikawa and he might also break their arms if he got caught up in the rush of the game.

"Aw, don't tell me you're backing out," Oikawa teased, easing his high heels off his feet and dumping them in a fancy bag he had brought with him. "You're just up against Hajime Iwaizumi, who broke the Iron Wall, and Tooru Oikawa, who was the best setter in Miyagi for four years in a row and was well known for bringing out the best of his teams' abilities."

Makki folded his arms and scowled more. "This is unbalanced, like hell."

"Takahiro, it's fine," Promised Matsun. "We can beat Diva Queen and Mister No-Fun."

Iwaizumi frowned. "I have fun!"

Oikawa sniffed. "No offence, Iwa, but your involves hitting pretty setters, specifically me."

"Shut up, shittykawa," Grunted Iwaizumi. "Harley, toss us a ball, please!"

Harley obediently chucked a ball over and Oikawa caught it. "I'm serving first!" He decided brightly and the two they were playing against paled.

"Takahiro, you were right, this is unbalanced," Matsun whispered.

"We forgot about his serve," Makki whispered, nervously preparing to receive as Oikawa began his routine.

The teenagers from the sidelines watched us Oikawa tossed up the ball, ran and jumped. Then, his hand made contact with it and he flung it down, hard and fast, right into the centre of the other court.

"Yes!" Iwaizumi shouted, punching the air. "Service ace!"

"Still got it," Hummed Oikawa smugly. The teens were freaking out behind them.

"Issei, you could've gotten that one!" Whined Makki.

Matsun stared at the ball that had bounced far away from its' landing point. "I forgot how fast that serve was."

"Give us another one, 'Kawa!" Iwaizumi said.

"Oh, I plan to," Oikawa promised, beginning his serving ritual.

He tossed the ball high, ran up, jumped and swung. The ball hurtled through the air and landed just inside the court, behind Makki, in the corner of the court.

Makki glared. "We're not Ushiwaka or Kageyama, y'know, stop playing us like we're on your shitlist."

Iwaizumi looked back at Oikawa with a raised eyebrow. "You're still holding grudges?"

"Not my fault, they were bothers, anyway," Oikawa grunted.

"Your serve is amazing, Mr Oikawa!" The boys chorused all at once.

Iwaizumi smirked. "Not as good as it used to be. Have you been slacking, lazykawa?"

Oikawa went red and spluttered indignantly. "I have been busy becoming a world-famous superstar, Iwa-chan!"

"That serve was better?!" Screeched Harvey, looking like he was going to faint.

"Just throw another one, ya poser!" Makki yelled, stopping the chatter.

Oikawa's' next serve bumped into the tape and fell into Makki and Matsun's' court. Makki began to throw a mini fit and Iwaizumi looked surprised. "I remembered him a bit more chill when we played."

Matsun shrugged. "It's you and Oikawa, not Shiratorizawa. He's made it a rule to only be a sore loser when playing against people he doesn't need to impress."

"Ooh, Makki-chan~!" Oikawa called teasingly, in Japanese. "Are you about to let me take the whole game with nothing but a weak serve? At least try to put up a decent fight!"

"Oh, just serve already, you bloody twink," Makki said, loudly hurling insults at Oikawa in Japanese, who just laughed it off.

Oikawa's' next serve actually got picked up by Matsun, and Makki rushed to get under it. He hated setting and the ball was low when his fiance went to spike it, but he hit it cross-court. Unfortunately, it went straight to Iwaizumi, who received it straight to the setter position that Oikawa rushed to. He prepared then tossed Iwaizumi's' favourite set through muscle memory.

Matsun jumped to block, but Iwaizumi killed the ball straight through his arms. The teens started to freak out again.

"Iwa-chan, nice kill!" Oikawa called.

"Yes!" Iwaizumi celebrated with a grin.

Matsun made a face. "Stupid ace."

"Arrgh, why did I agree to this?!" Makki howled. "This is so unfair!"

Oikawa shrugged. "Hey, you could've picked one of us on your team but you instantly claimed Matsun, so it's your fault-"

"Hey, don't bring up my past mistakes! What matters is that I'm upset. Stop the match, I don't wanna play anymore!"

Iwaizumi stopped grinning victoriously and looked a little concerned. "You sure, Makki-?"

"You two are too good, unfair! And the sexual tension between the two of you is distracting, I can't focus on the game when you keep eye-fucking each other in front of me!" Makki said, loudly and purposefully, in English to make sure everyone heard and understood.

The setter and ace went bright red and looked alarmed.

"E-Eye-fucking?!" Stammered Oikawa.

"Sexual tension?!" Iwaizumi yelped. "What the hell, Makki, where did you get that from?!"

Makki seemed delighted at how the tables turned. "Hmm, from Oikawa constantly smiling when texting you, the fact you just seem to lose all sense of anything the moment you look at 'Kawa smiling, and that one time at the Seijoh volleyball party, in our second year, when you two got a bit tipsy and made out-"

"Oh, don't forget the fact Iwaizumi always tenderly cared for 'Kawa's' knee when he strained it, or the fact he'd carry 'Kawa around," Matsun jumped in. "And how Oikawa always got jealous of any girl who approached Iwaizumi, or how he'd try to make Iwaizumi jealous by flirting with all his fangirls."

"Oh, and that song he wants to put out!" Makki added. "The new single we've been recording, y'know what I mean?"

Matsun nodded. "Right, the one with similar connections to his and Iwaizumi's' childhood, the only mildly polite song we've ever written-"

"Alright, fuck it, I'm out!" Oikawa announced, tossing away the volleyball he picked up. "I'm quitting the band, I'm quitting you two, in particular, and I'm flying back to Miyagi to join Shiratorizawa!"

"I'm coming too," Iwaizumi decided. "Let's go find Ushiwaka and tell him that we're gonna join Shiratorizawa, he'll be so excited."

Makki and Matsun burst out laughing as the two haughtily stormed off. They left the room for a few seconds before Oikawa rushed back in and grabbed his bag. "Need my shoes," He muttered and darted back out of the room.

Iwaizumi stuck his head around the door. "Stop laughing!" He shouted at the two friends who were practically dying on the floor.

"Yeah," Oikawa said, popping up behind Iwaizumi as he slipped his heels on. "Or I'll tell everyone about that one time Makki had trouble shooting a music video because neither of you could keep your hands to yourself the night before!"

Matsun doubled over with laughter and Makki spluttered. "Hey! Hey, no, no, uncool, bro!"

Iwaizumi turned to Oikawa. "You serious?"

"Mhm!" Sniffed Oikawa. "Not to mention, Makki isn't allowed to change with anyone any more, because he's a horny little-" Oikawa wasn't able to finish his sentence because he was too busy screaming as Makki jumped on him, tumbling onto the floor.

"You shut up, you little snitch!" Makki yelled in Japanese. "I thought you didn't want to speak any English!"

"Makki, no, you're gonna ruin my outfit!" Oikawa wailed, struggling against Makki as he tried hard not to laugh.

The teenager stared on with wide eyes. "They," Rissie began, "Are chaotic."

"I didn't know Mr Iwaizumi could be so crazy," Kayla said.

Dean put his hands on his hips. "I think they're all mad."

Maxie just nervously hid behind Rissie as they watched the two adults rolling around on the floor, one hurling Japanese insults and the other laughing his ass off. Matsun pulled his fiance off of the singer, trying to calm him down and Iwaizumi helped Oikawa off the floor.

As Oikawa dusted himself off, he looked up at Iwaizumi. "Hey, Iwa, wanna ditch these two and get some coffee?"

Iwaizumi smiled and offered his arm out to Oikawa. "Sure."

Oikawa took his arm and stuck his tongue out at Makki, who was screaming something about the audacity it took to put 'hoes' before 'bros'. Iwaizumi gave him a peace sign and Matsun started laughing at his fiance, who was trying to chase after the other two. Then they stopped when they watched Oikawa and Iwaizumi start to talk with very bright expressions, the singer clinging onto Iwaizumi's' arm and the fitness trainer smiling down at him. It was honestly quite cute.

"As much as I hate them," Makki said, "Their gayness for each other pleases me."

"Iwaizumi is being a pussy about it, though," Matsun sighed. "I think we need to do something about it."

Someone cleared their throat behind them and they turned around to see Rissie standing there proudly, the other teenagers gathered behind her, apart from Maxie, who had tucked themself nervously behind her shoulder.

"Now, I have no clue what you're saying," She said loudly. "But if it's something about setting Mr Iwaizumi up with Mr Oikawa, we're in. Because Mr Iwaizumi is actually smiling for once and that's revolutionary."

"On one condition!" Kayla added. "We want autographs!"

Oikawa and Iwaizumi left the coffee shop, both beaming and laughing with each other, having a conversation in Japanese.

"Oh, Iwa-chan," Oikawa said. "You remember Daichi Sawamura, right? He was the captain of Karasuno."

"Yeah, I remember, what about him?"

"Well, he's a police officer now. I think he's married that vice-captain of his. The one who looked like a soft version of Eita Semi from Shiratorizawa."

Iwaizumi sniffed. "I saw that marriage happening a mile away."

Oikawa laughed. "I know, right?" As they talked, he slowly and deliberately brushed his hand against Iwaizumi's'. They looked at each other and Iwaizumi quietly picked up Oikawa's' hand in his own, playing it off casually as he took a sip from his coffee. "S-So," Stammered Oikawa, knotting his fingers with Iwaizumi. "What about you? Have you been married off yet?"

"No, Iwaizumi replied. "I guess I haven't met anyone in Canada who makes me want to marry them."

"No one in Canada, huh?" Oikawa asked. "Someone in Japan, maybe?"

Iwaizumi smirked at him. "Maybe, Tooru. Maybe."

Next, they were in a park, where Oikawa got hounded a little by fans and Iwaizumi seethed silently in jealously. Every time a girl seemed to overstep a boundary, Iwaizumi would quickly appear and scare them off.

It was honestly pretty amusing and Oikawa just had to tease him about it.

"You got pretty grumpy back there, Iwa," He taunted playfully.

"And you didn't have to flirt with all of them," Iwaizumi said grouchily.

Oikawa giggled. "Well, maybe I like it when you're grumpy. You look so hot."

"You always say I'm hot," Grunted Iwaizumi.

"And I'm not lying," Hummed Oikawa, eyeing Iwaizumi's' biceps.

Iwaizumi arched a sarcastic eyebrow at him. "I always thought Makki was supposed to be the horny one."

Oikawa made a face. "I am not horny, I'm just admiring! Just because you're absolutely ripped doesn't mean I'm gonna get as horny as Makki when he saw Matsun getting changed back in Seijoh."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Shittykawa."

"Mean, Iwa-chan, so mean."

"You're such a piece of crap."

"Excuse me? Could you please stop calling me that?"

"Sure, how does, 'you're a piece of shit' sound?"

"Fine! Piece of crap!"

Iwaizumi smirked. "As you wish."

With their coffees finished, they returned to the gym Iwaizumi worked at to find it empty.

They searched around but found no trace of anyone.

"Weird," Iwaizumi grunted. "Usually, the kids don't go home this early. Maxie has to force Rissie home most of the time."

Oikawa looked around. "Maybe, like, they just decided to head home because it didn't look like we were coming back anytime soon."

"Yeah, maybe, so where are Hanamakki and Matsukawa?"

"Hmm, not sure," Oikawa took a thoughtful pose as he looked around the dark gymnasium. "It's lowkey freaking me out, Hajime."

Iwaizumi froze. "What did you say?"

"Uh, it's freaking me out."

"No, what did you call me?"

Oikawa went red. "H-Hajime."

"O-Oh."

The singer glanced away nervously. "Sorry, Iwa-chan... should I not? Do you not want me to? That's okay."

"No, Tooru, it's fine," Promised Iwaizumi with a smile, edging closer to his oldest friend. Oikawa let him, mostly because he seemed to have completely shut down once Iwaizumi called him by his first name. "Hey, Tooru?"

"U-uh, yes, Hajime?"

"I'm gonna kiss you, is that okay?"

"Please, go right ahead."

So they did. And, for a few seconds, that was all there was to the two of them. Each other and this moment. Then an angry voice shouted out, "Dammit, they got to it before us!"

Both jumped and looked behind Iwaizumi to see Makki shaking his fist angrily at them. "We had a whole plan to set you two up!"

Matsun's' hand popped up, trying to pull him back into hiding and then Rissie and Kayla jumped up squealing.

"Mr Iwaizumi, congratulations!" Kayla called, clapping her hands together in applause.

"You guys were hiding here?!" Yelped Iwaizumi, ears going red.

Maxie pointed at the engaged couple helpfully. "They translated for us."

Iwaizumi and Oikawa slowly turned to look at Makki and Matsun. There was a moment of silence.

"Run, Issei, they're gonna kill us!" Makki wailed quickly, pushing his fiance as fast as he could, with Iwaizumi hot on their heels.

"Hanamakki! Matsukawa! Get back here, you bastards!"
