Sakuatsu: In 5 Years

"Omi-Omi!" Miya Atsumu's voice rang through their apartment.

"Please don't call me that," Sakusa replied in his usual melancholy tone.

Sakusa was sitting in front of his computer, trying to finish up an update on his research that was due that night. He looked at his watch and found that he hadn't gotten up in over three hours, so he stretched and decided he would go greet his boyfriend that just walked in.

He walked into their living room/kitchen (not a very big apartment) to see Atsumu hanging up his bag and coat.

"How was work?" Sakusa asked with a yawn.

"Ah, same as usual." Atsumu walked over to where Sakusa was standing and attempted to give him a kiss on the cheek, the latter of whom dodged his attempt swiftly.

"Hey, you know the drill. You shower before you come anywhere near me," Sakusa said, cringing.

"I'm sorry, I just missed you so much! It's been so long since I've seen you!" Atsumu wailed.

"And? You can go 15 more minutes!" Sakusa pointed towards the bathroom indignantly. Atsumu sighed, unsurprised. "I'll get dinner going, okay?"

"Thanks, you're the best babe!"

Sakusa couldn't decide whether he hated being called babe or Omi-Omi more.

Either way, he put some water on to boil with butter and started chopping up some carrots. After the water was boiling, he threw in the carrots to cook. Then he started boiling another pot of water for the pasta. After all that was cooking, he went back into their room to get his laptop. He just had to outline the next few steps in his research and then he'd be able to submit it to his professor.

In the middle of typing a sentence, he felt warm arms wrapping around his waist.

"Whatcha working on, Omi-kun?" Atsumu said, his chin resting on Sakusa's shoulder. Sakusa leaned into Atsumu, thankful for his presence.

"Just a research update. I think I'll be moving on to field research soon," Sakusa said. He was glad of it, too, he was tired of reading through other people's research. He was looking forward to going out and gathering his own data.

"Geez, grad school sounds exhausting. I wouldn't have been able to stand it," Atsumu said. He then turned his head toward Sakusa and planted a slow kiss on his jawbone.

"I'm surprised you even lasted through 4 years of undergrad," Sakusa responded, smirking.

"Rude!" Sakusa turned around in Atsumu's arms to be met with a pouting and shirtless Atsumu.

"Were you just going to eat dinner half-dressed?" Sakusa said, unimpressed.

"Only if you wanted me to," Atsumu said, looking up at Sakusa, his head tilted and biting his lip. A smile started to creep onto Sakusa's face.

"I guess I wouldn't mind." Sakusa leaned down to kiss his boyfriend, his tongue slowly working itself into Atsumu's mouth. He could smell their lavender shampoo on his skin, his hands gliding through Atsumu's damp hair.

Suddenly, Atsumu broke their kiss and moved to instead to Sakusa's neck. After a few gentle kisses, he bit down and sucked hard, causing Sakusa to dig his nails into Atsumu's shoulder and arch his back in pain.

"Low blow," Sakusa said huskily.

"Oh come on, you know you love it." Sakusa responded by kissing Atsumu again, hungrier than before. He pushed foward until Atsumu's back was pressed up against the pantry door. His hands were moving up and down Atsumu's bare back and Atsumu's hands were in his hair. Sakusa took a moment to breath, but didn't pull away, smiling against Atsumu's lips.

"So, I take it you missed me, too," Atsumu said as they caught their breath.

"What can I say? Eight hours is just so long to go without you. It's your magnetic personality, you've got me hooked," Sakusa said, his voice low.

"Only my personality? Hey, I don't look this good just for fun."

"Oh, shut up." Sakusa leaned in to continue the kiss, but just then the timer on the oven beeped.

"Saved by the bell," Atsumu said, eyeing Sakusa's neck. Sakusa just smirked and went to empty the pasta into the colander.

"Go put on a shirt."

"Or what?"

"I'll throw the spaghetti at you, and if it sticks, we'll know it's cooked," Sakusa said.

"Geez, okay, enough with the attitude!" Atsumu threw his hands in the air and turned to go back to their bedroom, Sakusa admiring how his back muscles tensed and moved with a small smile. "I know you are checking me out!" Atsumu shouted.

"Shut up!" A deep blush formed across Sakusa's cheeks as he turned back to the stove. He started heating up some sauce and quickly checked to see if the carrots were done.

"Thanks for making dinner, Omi-kun," Atsumu said, waltzing back into the kitchen, now fully clothed. Sakusa just smiled and kissed his boyfriend on the cheek.

"It'll be ready in a few minutes, if you want to go ahead and set the table."

After everything was done, Sakusa brought over two plates and sat down next to Atsumu at their tiny dining table.

"You know, I've been considering getting another job, being a TA isn't all that lucrative. Maybe we can save up and move out of this tiny apartment," Sakusa said.

"Really? You would do that?" Atsumu asked, looking up from his plate. "You seem pretty busy already."

"Eh, I don't know, it seems like I tend to have a lot of time on my hands. There are just certain times when things get hectic."

"Yeah, I guess, but I'm not really all that unhappy here. We have a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The only other thing I need to be happy is you," Atsumu said with a charming smile. Once again, a blush started to form across Sakusa's cheeks.

"Ah, well, maybe I'm thinking too much in the short term. I'll bet if we start saving now we could even buy a house in a few years... er, maybe more like 4 or 5. You get what I mean," Sakusa said, tilting his head in thought.

"A house? You want to live in a house? With me?" Atsumu said, just a little bit shocked.

"Who else would I want to live in a house with?" Atsumu couldn't hold in his smile. Sakusa didn't understand why he was taking this so weirdly, he had never thought they would be living in an apartment forever.

"I can't wait to live in a house with you, Kiyoomi."

"Why are you being so weird about this?" Sakusa asked. Atsumu just sighed and opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but then closed it again.

"I don't know, it just, ah, it just means that you think you'll still want to be with me in 5 years. Buying a house together." Realization dawned on Sakusa. Generally, Atsumu was never insecure about anything, but every once in a while, there would be one thing...

"Of course. And, to beat that, not only do I think I'll want to still be with you in 5 years, but I think that I'll want to be with you for the rest of my life," Sakusa said, taking a hold of Atsumu's hand.

"Are you proposing to me?"

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

"That sounded like a proposal!"

"Well, I guess it can be a proposal if you really want it to be."

"That's no fair! You don't even have a ring or anything!"

"Then I guess it's not a proposal."

"What! You can't just take back a proposal!"

"Then what do you want from me, Atsumu?" Sakusa threw his hands up in exasperation, his heart pounding.

"I want a ring and a proper proposal, that's what!"

"Fine!" Sakusa got up and stormed off to their bedroom, leaving Atsumu shocked for the split second before Sakusa came back out. He promptly went up to Atsumu and got down on one knee, an open ring box in his hand.

"Will you, Miya Atsumu, give me, Sakusa Kiyoomi, the privilege of becoming your husband?"

"Holy shit. You actually have a ring," Atsumu said, his mouth hanging open in shock.

"Well, will you?"

"What do you mean, 'will you?' Where have you been? Of course! Of course I will!" Atsumu tackled him in a hug before Sakusa could even get up so they both ended up on the floor.

"Jesus..." Sakusa muttered. He propped himself up, took Atsumu's hand, and slowly slid the ring onto his finger. Atsumu stared at it in wonder.

"I can't believe I'm getting married to the Sakusa Kiyoomi." Sakusa just shook his head, not able to keep the smile off his face.

"Shut up."

"I love you, Omi-kun."

...

"I love you, too, Atsumu."
