Iwaoi: Stay // part 1

Iwaizumi took a seat at the bar. He couldn't stand being at home a minute longer, and what better a place to go when you're mourning than a bar. Well, if you could call it mourning. No one actually died, unless you count Iwaizumi's will to live. That died. That died the minute he found out that his boyfriend of three years was cheating on him, that the one he was planning on proposing to loved another. Iwaizumi orders a double scotch. He would really love it if he didn't really have to think about any thing from now on.

For the past week, Iwaizumi had been staying at his sister's. She took him in after he found out. She helped him a lot, fed him, housed him, but eventually she had to go back to work and Iwaizumi had to go back to the apartment where everything reminded him of him. Iwaizumi rubs his forehead, taking a sip of scotch. This was his second night back in the apartment. Last night he had drunk himself into a fit and had ransacked half the apartment, trying to rid the place of all the reminders of his past relationship. He failed though, so now he was going to drink himself into a coma where it doesn't hurt as much. This was a bar that he hadn't gone to often, and was happy that nothing here reminded him of his former love.

Iwaizumi looked around at the other patrons. Most were in groups, sitting at tables talking and drinking. It wasn't late enough in the night for it to be that crowded. He was sure that it would become populated though; it was Saturday night after all. Once he finished his first drink, he ordered another. Iwaizumi just wanted to forget, even if it wasn't permanent. Halfway into his next drink, a man sat down next to him. Iwaizumi glanced lazily at the man. He had light brown hair and a charming smile. Iwaizumi downed the rest of his drink; he had had enough of pretty boys for the time being.

It was still early in the night and Iwaizumi was already drunk. He started complaining to the bar tender until the girl just started ignoring him. He was sure that she has seen plenty heartbroken guys and didn't want to deal with another. Then he started talking to the man who had sat next to him earlier.

"Why are you here? You aren't here with anyone. Just out for a drink?" Iwaizumi says, his words slightly slurred. The guy smiles at him and Iwaizumi's eyes widen a little. This guy wasn't just pretty, he was beautiful.

"You could say that. And you? I can't say that I think you're here for the same reason," the guy says, his voice reminding Iwaizumi of an angel's. Although, Iwaizumi had never heard an angel talk. Whatever, this is probably how one would sound.

"Haha, got my there. I," Iwaizumi announces, holding up his drink, "am drinking away my memories and my problems."

"I'm afraid that isn't how memories or problems work, my dear. Now, may I ask your name?" the man responds kindly.

"I am Iwaizumi Hajime. And you?" He leans drunkenly toward the man.

"Oikawa Tooru, at your service," he says, with a flourish of his hand.

"That's a nice name," Iwaizumi observes, taking another sip of his drink. Oikawa smiles at him, even though there is a hint of pity in the smile.

"You know, you might want to stop with the drinks, Iwaizumi," Oikawa says cautiously. Iwaizumi just shakes his head.

"No, no, no. I can't. How else am I supposed to forget?" Iwaizumi looks up at Oikawa, his eyes pained. "I want to forget so badly, it's the only way I can go on." Oikawa looks at him with sadness in his eyes. Iwaizumi looks incredibly vulnerable.

"What do you want to forget?"

"Him. That bastard, he took my heart and then drowned it. He fucking ruined my goddamned life. Goddammit..." His voice trails off as a sob threatens to escape his throat. Iwaizumi bites his lip hard.

"I'm sorry, but this really isn't the way to deal with it," Oikawa says. He knows he should stop; it isn't a good idea to anger a drunken person.

"I DON'T FUCKING CARE." A few people turn towards to the two, but look away when they see that it hasn't escalated into anything violent. Oikawa was about to get up and leave when Iwaizumi finished his thought. "I know. I know I shouldn't be doing this, but what else do you expect me to do?" he asks, looking at his feet. Oikawa settles back into his seat. He had originally sat next to this guy thinking he was cute, not knowing that he had some problems that he really needed to deal with.

"Maybe talk to this guy? See what went wrong from his point of view?" he suggested.

"I know exactly what fucking happened, and I never want to speak to that bastard again," Iwaizumi states, clenching his fist. He is trying really hard not to cry, but he's not sure he'll be able to stop himself. He can slowly feel his grip on reality fading away.

"Okay... So maybe you just need to talk about it. Tell me what happened," Oikawa offers.

"Well, okay. So there was this guy. I was dating him for about three years. We were so close; we were living together and everything. I was even planning on proposing to him, I had been so happy with him I couldn't find a reason not to. But about a week ago, I found out that-" Iwaizumi's voice hitches. Tears start to form in his eyes. "I found out that he was cheating on me. It was awful. But he still had the nerve to tell me that he still loved me even though I could see it in his eyes, he didn't care for me like he used to. But since I was so hopelessly in love, I forgave him. Until it happened again. I couldn't do it that time. He didn't even look sad when I told him that I didn't want to see him anymore, that he could fuck off. He didn't look the slightest bit fazed." Iwaizumi broke down. Tears started streaming down his face. He pressed his palms into his face, trying to stop the torrent of tears.

"Okay, that was a shitty thing for that guy to do. And I'm sorry that happened to you. But there is one thing I need to say, if you are blaming yourself for anything that happened, you need to stop. None of this is your fault," Oikawa says supportively.

"But maybe if I had just paid a little more attention to him, gave him more-"

"No." A huge sob escaped Iwaizumi, and then he couldn't stop. His breaths kept hitching, no matter what he did to try to stop it. This made him even more frustrated and he just started crying harder.

"Goddammit, goddamn." Oikawa and the bar tender share a look, and Oikawa gets up.

"Come on, let's go outside and get some fresh air." Iwaizumi doesn't even nod, just gets up and starts walking. Oikawa guides him out of the bar and takes him to the edge of a nearby alley, away from the people. Once they get there, Iwaizumi starts crying even harder.

"I can't do this, I can't. I don't want to," he stammers. Oikawa pulls Iwaizumi into a hug.

"Hey, come on. You can do this, you can, and you'll regret it if you don't try." Iwaizumi just buries his face into Oikawa's chest. He's so warm, and his strong arms around Iwaizumi feel so protective. Iwaizumi wraps his arm around the other man and heaves into his shoulder. He cries for a while longer, until there are no more tears for him. Soon the only noise is just Iwaizumi's breaths hitching.

Iwaizumi lets go of Oikawa and goes to the other side of the alley. He presses his forearms against the wall and grips his hands together above his head. Then he screams, just one long, heavy scream.

Oikawa walks over to the man and puts his hand on Iwaizumi's shoulder.

"We should get you home." Oikawa hails a taxi and gets Iwaizumi to tell the driver his address. The whole drive to his home, Iwaizumi is leaning on Oikawa. Once they get there, Oikawa helps Iwaizumi out of the car and into his apartment. Once they're inside, Oikawa prepares to say goodbye to the man he had helped through the night.

"Well, I should really get going. Are you okay here?" he asks, tired.

"Please stay." Iwaizumi's eyes are red and he looks so defeated, his head slumped over his shoulders and his arms hanging listlessly at his side. Oikawa just sighs a little and leads Iwaizumi to his bedroom. He tucks in the other man, and again, prepares to leave, but Iwaizumi grabs his hand before he can even turn around.

"Stay. Please." Iwaizumi tries his best to pull Oikawa down onto the bed, but in seeing the other man's desperate face, Oikawa just sits down.

"Okay." He lies down on top of the covers and puts his arm around Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi snuggles into his side and takes his first full deep breath of the night.

"Thank you."

Hey hey hey!! That wasn't exactly fluffy, but whatever. I might make a part two to this; it just seems kind of incomplete. We need a kiss or something. Hope you liked it!! :)
