Bokuaka: My Love

Oh my god.

I am going to be late.

On my first day.

I am a colossal idiot.

Akaashi sprinted down the street as fast as he could without running into anyone. He slept through his alarm, and now he wasn't going to get to work on time. And on top of that, it was raining and he did not have an umbrella. When he reached the corner, he didn't account for the slipperiness of the sidewalk and fell to the ground in a split second. Before he could even register what just happened, a foot hit him in the chest and he heard a scream from the person that was now behind him.

Akaashi turned to see another guy sprawled out half on the sidewalk and half on the road. Akaashi pushed himself up onto his arms and coughed from the chest blow.

"Where did you come from? All was clear, and then you just appeared!! It was so fast!" The guy who it seeemd Akaashi accidentally tripped was looking at Akaashi with not an angry look, just a baffled one. "I wish I could be that fast..."

"No, you don't," Akaashi grumbled. His arm was throbbing and his head felt like it just got hit by a truck. The other boy jumped up, much to Akaashi's surprise. That looked like a pretty hard fall, but maybe he just landed right.

"I am really sorry dude. Did I hit you hard?" Akaashi looked up to see a hand extended down to him. The man above him had a concerned look on his face and as Akaashi looked at him, the boy's eyes widened. "Do I know you? I could swear I have seen you before." Akaashi accepted the other boy's help in getting to his feet, grimacing while he did so.

"I don't think I have seen you before. What's your name?"

"I am Bokuto Koutarou!" He pointed at himself proudly. When Akaashi's blank look didn't change, he wilted a little.

"You know, you can't get mad because even though I don't recognize you, you can't totally say you know me if you can't remember my name." Akaashi really needed to get to work, but he didn't want to be rude.

"At least I recognize you!!" Bokuto closed his eyes in concentration. "Okay, how about this?" Bokuto pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and jotted down something on it. "You call me, and after we talk some I might be able to remember who you are." Bokuto smiled widely. Akaashi raised his eyebrow, but still took the slip of paper and put it in his pocket before it got too wet to be readable.

"This isn't a guarantee that I'll call you."

"Oh, I'm sure you will." Bokuto turned his back and jogged off. Akaashi sighed and continued running to work.

~~~~~~~
Akaashi collapsed on his couch at home, exhausted from the day. Turned out being an intern was just running around getting stuff for the people who have actual things to do. His arm was still sore from earlier and he had a killer headache. It had stopped raining by the time he got out, so the walk back was more pleasant.
Akaashi took out the number that man had given him earlier. He studied the piece of paper with a slightly exasperated look. Who was this guy, giving people his number out on the street? It was probably best to not call the number. But something nagged at Akaashi. The guy was kinda cute, and he seemed like a nice person. What's the worst that could happen? Akaashi dailed the number.
"Hey hey hey!"
"Um, hi. This is the guy from earlier..." Akaashi already felt extremely awkward.
"Oh! Mysterious hot guy!" Akaashi blushed at that comment. "How's it going?"
"Um, fine. You?"
"It is great over here! So, where could I know you from? What are your hobbies?"
"Um, I don't really have any hobbies," Akaashi said quietly.
"Aw! How can you not have any hobbies? Everyone has hobbies!" Bokuto sounded even louder and more excited than he did earlier today. His voice was not helping Akaashi's headache.
"I'm sorry."
"No need for that- oh, wait, I need to go. I'll call you later, ok?"
"Um, ok, I guess?" Akaashi wasn't sure if he wanted this guy to call him later, but he couldn't really say no.
"Bye!! Oh wait, can you tell me your name?"
"Akaashi Keiji."
"THAT'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL NAME I HAVE EVER HEARD IT SUITS YOU PERFECTLY," Bokuto screamed into the phone.
"Goodbye." Akaashi hung up before Bokuto could shout anything else. He decided it would be best to go to sleep as early as possible so he fixed himself a quick dinner and goes to bed at 7:30.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Akaashi woke up on time this morning; he got about 12 hours of sleep so he felt much better. After taking some pain medicine for his still hurting arm and eating a quick breakfast, he was off to work. The day was an extremely nice one in direct contrast to the previous day. Work was going at a similar pace, until five of the workers send him out to the nearby coffee shop to get them all drinks and snacks.

Akaashi sulked into the shop. This was not what he wanted out of this job, but it could be worse. Only two seconds after he had a stepped in, he heard a very loud scream from behind the counter. Akaashi looked up to see Bokuto screaming his head off and shaking another guy behind the counter. The other guy was tall with crazy black hair and seemed completely uninterested in Bokuto's antics until he looked at Akaashi.

Once the tall guy's eyes landed on Akaashi he started screaming as well. Surprisingly, only a few of the people in the coffee shop looked frazzled. Maybe the rest were just used to these guy's outbursts.

"This is where I know you from!!! I have seen you come in here, but I haven't ever served you!!" Bokuto yelled at Akaashi from across the shop. Akaashi rubbed his forehead with his hand and sighed loudly. "Don't give me that, Akaashi!" Bokuto wailed.

"You definitely lived up to your description." The black haired guy looked Akaashi up and down, smiling like a maniac. Just then, a short guy with long blond hair and brown roots darted out from the back and pulled the taller guy away.

"Aww, Kenma, you always ruin my fun!"

"Shut your face," the short guy said angrily. Bokuto collapsed into laughter. Akaashi slowly walked up the counter as he heard a faint, "You know I will always be loyal to you, kitten," from behind the 'employees only' door.

"Can you do anything without making a scene?" Akaashi said in a visibly pissed off tone. Bokuto ignored this statement.

"Hey! Well, I finally remembered where I had seen you! And you agreed to go out on a date with me if I did!" Bokuto said triumphantly.

"I never agreed to that." Akaashi tried to keep a blush from forming on his face.

"Aww, come on, why not? What is the worst that could happen? It's not like this is going to ruin a friendship, we were never friends in the first place. Even though I would like to be..." Bokuto's sentence trailed off.

"Can I just order something?"

"Ooh! Are you free tomorrow night? I don't think I have anything else to do!" Bokuto was obviously not going to take Akaashi's order until he gave him an answer on the date.

"Okay, okay. Where do you want me to meet you?" Akaashi asked impatiently.

"Ohoho, Bokuto's got a date!" The tall guy from before popped out from behind the door.

"Shut up, Kuroo!" Both Bokuto and Kenma shouted at him. Kuroo made a mock scared face and retreated back into the other room.

"You can just meet me here at 6:00, is that alright?" Bokuto was beaming, and, although Akaashi would rather not admit it, he looked adorable.

"Yeah, that's fine." Akaashi went onto make his long order for the people at his work and gave the handful of cash they gave him to Bokuto. The whole time this transaction was happening, Bokuto was smiling like an idiot and Kuroo didn't hesitate to point that out. All the workers bustled around behind the counter until Bokuto could give Akaashi his bag of food.

"Have a nice day, my love!" Akaashi threw his head back in despair and Kuroo snickered. When Akaashi got back to work, all the others complained about how long he took.

"I'm sorry! One of the workers there was being difficult!" Akaashi said defensively.

"Ooh, was it those two guys with the crazy hair? They are always screaming about something," one of the guys lamented.

~~~~~~
The next day and half passed painfully slowly for Akaashi and with every minute that passed, he found himself looking more and more forward to his date. On the day of, he called up his friend, Sugawara Koushi.
"Do you know what I should wear on a first date?" Akaashi asked sincerely.
"Oh, haha. I haven't been on a first date in such a long time," Suga said.
"You don't have to brag about the fact that you have been in a stable relationship for such a long time. Oh, speaking of, how's Daichi doing?"
"Good, we're good. Um, I would suggest that you just wear a nice shirt, maybe a bowtie, you look good in those! And you should wear your glasses, you look cute in those,why don't you wear them more often?" Suga suggested.
"They get in my way, but I guess I could make an exception for tonight. So a dress shirt and a bowtie? Would skinny jeans look good with that?" Akaashi looked the outfit he had picked out up and down.
"Yeah! Who's your date?"
"This guy named Bokuto who I think gave me a concussion when I first met him. We ran into each other on the sidewalk, literally. I then saw him at this coffee shop yesterday and he screamed a lot with his friend and then conned me into going on a date with him," Akaashi explained.
"Well, you obviously want to go a little bit, you are asking me for fashion advice. Me, of all people!" Sugawara laughed.
"Come on! You're one of my closest friends, who else am I supposed to ask?"
"Ok, ok. Well, I need to go. I hope your date goes well," Suga said.
"Thanks, bye."
"Bye."
Akaashi got into his clothes and then started walking towards the coffee shop. The sun was just setting and the light cast a nice glow over the city. He reached the coffee shop a bit early and sat outside on one of the tables watching the sun dip below the horizon. Right at 6:00, Bokuto dashed out of the shop. He was wearing a white button up shirt with the top two buttons undone and a pair of blue jeans. Akaashi could tell that this guy is extremely fit and he smiled a little bit.
"Hi," Bokuto smiles widely at Akaashi. Just then, Kuroo jumped out the door with a camera.
"I have got to capture this moment!" he said excitedly.
"What the heck? Are you my mom or something?" Bokuto complained loudly.
"Just stay still and smile." Bokuto and Akaashi stood awkwardly next to each other and gave Kuroo obviously fake smiles. "Act like you like each other!" Kuroo walked up to them and moved them toward each other. He placed Akaashi's arm around Bokuto's shoulders and Bokuto's arm around Akaashi's waist. "Now, relax," he said, seeing as the two are stiff as wood. They sighed and leaned into each other, just wanting this photo to be over. Kuroo took the picture and nodded approvingly.
"Carry on." He waved his hand dismissively at them but then leaned towards Bokuto's ear. "You scored a good one." He pranced back into the coffee shop. Akaashi's face turned beet red. Bokuto sighed and turned to Akaashi.
"Sorry about that. I think he likes to pretend that him and Kenma are my parents."
"It's fine." Akaashi smiled at Bokuto. He actually liked to see how Bokuto acted around his friends. "So, where are we going?"
"Well, there's this one take-out place that is really good, like really good, that I want to take you to, and then I was thinking we could go eat at the park? There is this really big, tall tree and you can sometimes hear the owls at night." Bokuto looked slightly flustered.
"That sounds amazing," Akaashi saod. They walked to the restaurant, all the while talking and getting to know each other. About a block from their destination, Bokuto gently took Akaashi's hand and intertwined his fingers with the shorter boy's. Akaashi looked at the ground and smiled. He was liking Bokuto more and more as the night went on. He didn't know why he was so apprehensive earlier.
They reached the restaurant and Akaashi let Bokuto order since he seemed to know the place well. They walked out with their food and some complimentary rice pudding that the owners provided.
"So do you go there often? The food looked really good," Akaashi inquired.
"Yeah! It is one of my favorite places. While juggling classes and a job, a place where I can quickly get something is really helpful." Bokuto held Akaashi's hand and used the other to carry the food.
"That's cool. It may be a place that I now go, if the food is as good as it looks," Akaashi said playfully. Bokuto looked at Akaashi, a soft smile on his lips. Bokuto directed them to the park and Akaashi pointed at a huge tree that sat at their left.
"Is that it? That's huge." Akaashi marveled at the tree.
"Yup!" Bokuto said in an oddly proud voice, like he was delighted that he had amazed Akaashi with the size of the tree. They took a place under the tree and see that there wasn't anyone else there that they could see.
"Looks like we have the whole place to ourselves," Bokuto exclaimed. He set out the food and invited Akaashi to have as much as he liked.
"It is as good as it looks!" Akaashi enthused after taking a few bites. Bokuto beamed.
"I'm really glad you like it," Bokuto said happily. After they finished eating, Akaashi rested his head on Bokuto's shoulder. Bokuto smiled to himself knowing that since they were leaning up against the tree, Akaashi could have just as easily laid his head against the trunk, but instead chose Bokuto.
Wow, someone chose you over a tree. What a feat, a voice in Bokuto's head said. Bokuto just pushed the thought away and took Akaashi's hand in his own. He laid his head so it was slightly resting against Akaashi's.
"I really like you, Akaashi."
"I could tell."
.............
"I really like you, too, Bokuto." They sat in silence for a while, just taking in each other's presence. Bokuto moved his thumb up and down against Akaashi's hand. Suddenly they heard a small hoot from above them.
"It's the owls!" Bokuto yelped. They both craned their heads upward as if that would help them hear. A flurry of hoots followed the first and Akaashi laughed silently at how excited Bokuto was getting. They both made sure to stay quiet as to not scare the birds off. Once the noise died down a little, Akaashi rested his head on his fist.
"You really like those owls, don't you?" Akaashi asked playfully.
"They are majestic beings!" Bokuto expressed. Akaashi laughed. "You have a beautiful laugh," Bokuto said, a small smile on his face. "And you have a beautiful name, and a beautiful face, and a beautiful body, and a beautiful personality." Akaashi blushed furiously.
"Thanks," Akaashi said quietly, a smile spreading across his face.
"Your lips are beautiful, your eyes are beautiful, your ears are beautiful, your nose is beautiful, your cheeks are beautiful, even your eyebrows are beautiful. You are so beautiful, Akaashi Keiji." Not knowing what to say, Akaashi pulled Bokuto towards him, resting his forehead against the taller boy's and looking him directly in the eyes. After a second, Bokuto closed the gap between them and kissed Akaashi softly on the lips.
Bokuto pulled out of the kiss and looked at Akaashi. No more than three seconds later Akaashi kissed him again, and again, and again.
"You're beautiful, too." Akaashi leaned his head into Bokuto's chest. Bokuto lifted Akaashi's head up and shook his head slowly as he studied the other boy's face.
"But not nearly as beautiful as you."
As it got later into the night, they decided to start heading home. While walking to Akaashi's apartment, Akaashi kept stopping Bokuto to kiss him.
"You are never getting home at this rate!" Bokuto exclaimed in between kisses.
"I don't care!" Akaashi kissed him again. This was the happiest Akaashi had been in a long time, and all it took was this loud guy who he ran into on a rainy day. Once they reached the door to the apartment, Bokuto paused.
"I guess this where I leave you."
"I don't want you to go, though." Akaashi looked at Bokuto pleadingly.
"Come on, I am sure we both have stuff to do in the morning, right?" Akaashi nodded hesitantly. "But I will see you tomorrow, right?"
"Definitely!" Akaashi kissed Bokuto furiously and hugged him tight.
"Have a good night, my love," Bokuto said with a smile.
"Goodnight."
BONUS:
