Chapter 3; Dinner Thoughts
Hadrian packed his trunk with a little help from his big brother Pugsley.
Pugsley - "What house do you want to be in Hadrian?"
Hadrian shrugged his shoulders.
Pugsley - "If you end up in Gryffindor, your cool big brother will protect you!"
Pugsley tackled Hadrian and started tickling him mercilessly. Hadrian let out squeals of giggles until he nearly wet himself.
Hadrian - "Wednesday! Help!"
Faster than a bat out of hell, Wednesday scurried up the ladder.
Wednesday - "Pugsley, please unhand my dear baby brother."
Pugsley - "Aww, I don't want to. He's so cute!"
Wednesday - "I agree. Unhand him."
Wednesday pulled Hadrian away from Pugsley and shoved him down the hole.
Wednesday - "Let us finish your packing."
Hadrian - "Thank you Wednesday."
Wednesday helped pack Hadrian's trunk. When they finished, they packed Wednesday's trunk.
Hadrian - "Doll?"
Hadrian held up a headless doll body in his left hand and holding a doll's head by the hair his right.
Wednesday - "Yes. Thank you Hadrian."
Hadrian carefully packed Wednesday's doll in between her clothes. When they finished her trunk the walked down the hall to the kitchen.
Grandmama - "Hello kiddies! You two have mail!"
Wednesday - "Thank you Grandmother"
Hadrian ran to the table and took his robes, spell cache, wand, and attempted to grab his baskets of potion ingredients.
Gomez - "Woah, I got you son."
Gomez quickly took ahold of the three baskets and followed his youngest son to his bedroom. Casting an undetectable extension charm on a briefcase, he helped Hadrian set up a portable potions storeroom. Hadrian planted some ingredients that are hard to find and set up the rest for easy access; even having a little box of bezoars for safety reasons.
Gomez - "There you go son! Oh how envious I am oh you. To go to school with such preparedness."
Hadrian - "Thank you for your help, Dad."
Gomez - "Just remember what I told you. Don't be whatever everyone expects, the real you is always more fantastically interesting."
Hadrian - "Okay, I promise. Would you be mad at me if I end up in a house you don't like?"
Gomez - "Of course not! I'll be proud of whatever house gets to have you. You are an fast learner and potions genius at such a young age. I'm sure you'll give your Potions teacher a run for his money."
Hadrian - "Okay, thank you Dad."
Hadrian hugged his father tightly and climbed up the rope ladder to his room.
Gomez - "Alright my boy, I'm going to check on your sister."
Hadrian gave him a half hearted wave as he started setting up his cauldron. Gomez climbed down the ladder to his daughter's room. Wednesday was writing a letter with complete concentration.
Gomez - "My cunning Raven? Do you need help?"
Wednesday - "No thank you Father."
Gomez - "What are you writing?"
Wednesday - "A letter to a bakery, in the magical shopping district in Paris. I'm ordering a large Black Forest birthday cake for Hadrian this year. What presents have you and Mother decided on?"
Gomez - "Well my little raven, we have decided on a bunch of baking supplies! From itty bitty whisks, to large cake pans! I remember overhearing you brother purchasing a diamond cauldron for him. Is the cake you present?"
Wednesday - "No, merely his birthday cake. His present will be revealed on his birthday."
Gomez - "Very well. Dinner will done soon, I'll send Lurch to fetch you."
Wednesday - "Alright. I will see you later then."
Wednesday sent the letter via Hermes then climbed up into Hadrian's room. He was brewing a potion at the foot of his bed.
Wednesday - "What are you brewing?"
Hadrian - "Draught of the Living Death."
Wednesday - "Sounds complex."
Hadrian - "It's a potion not supposed to be attempted until sixth year."
Wednesday - "Interesting. I will observe your progress."
Hadrian nodded absently and crushed a sopophorous bean to add the juices into the cauldron. Wednesday watched patiently until Hadrian slumped backwards asleep.
Wednesday - "Little brother, you did not brew it properly."
Wednesday took the wiggenweld potion Hadrian had on standby and carely poured it down his throat. Hadrian woke up a few minutes later.
Hadrian - "I thought I had it that time."
Wednesday - "No matter. We will be at school, and you can ask the potions teacher what you were doing wrong."
Lurch - "Uhhhn."
Wednesday - "Hello Lurch. Is it time for dinner?"
Lurch - "Hmmm."
Wednesday - "Lets go Hadrian."
Wednesday was amused at Hadrian's signing rant on how he could possibly be doing the potion wrong. Wednesday stabbed at her food, not paying much attention to much else.
Fester - "Wednesday, are you excited for Hogwarts?"
Wednesday - "I suppose. Why are we attending the British school instead of an American one?"
Gomez - "Me and your Uncle Fester got expelled from the American schools and they refuse to take anymore Addamses."
Morticia - "Hadrian, are you excited for your birthday tomorrow?"
Wednesday perked up at her mother's question. Hadrian nodded, smiling happily.
Morticia - "I'm glad to hear. What house do you hope to be in?"
Hadrian - "The same as Wednesday."
Gomez - "Splendid! Wednesday, what house to do you want to go to?"
Wednesday - "Ravenclaw. I heard from some fifth years in Silver Moon, that the Ravenclaw dormitory has their own library."
Fester - "That's my niece for ya. I had a girlfriend back in Ravenclaw once."
Morticia - "Alyssa Hattening, right?"
Fester - "Yeah, she was killed in Bulgaria!"
Fester laughed at the girl who dumped him in his sixth year. Hadrian laughed quietly and finished eating his food.
Grandmama - "Finished already Hadrian?"
Hadrian nodded and tugged at his father coat sleeve.
Gomez - "Yes my boy? Do you help with something?"
Hadrian nodded his head and whispered into his ear.
Gomez - "Of course I'll help you! Let us be off to my potions room!"
Morticia smiled softly at her husband and youngest. Gomez and his friends obsessed over Hogwarts. He in particular loved the myths and legends behind each of the houses. Gomez himself was a very strange Hufflepuff. Strongly loyal to his friends and his house, but Hufflepuff house looked down on him for dating her, the Princess of Slytherin. Even through the hatred of his house, he was the first one to ever stand for the ones who were pushed down and the last to back down against injustice.
That caring, passionate, and fiercely loyal nature of his was part of the reason Morticia fell for and married Gomez. He proved to be a devoted father to three, soon to be four children; not that he was aware of his fourth. She chuckled to herself and rested her hand on her flat belly.
<~Boom~>
Pugsley jumped in his seat, but laughed. His mother and little sister showed no signs of getting up themselves, so he got up and jogged over to his father's potions lab.
Pugsley - "Dad? Hadrian?"
He soon found the two laughing, stuck on a wall with a gloopy gray potion splattered on the walls around them. Hadrian was upside down with soot smeared across his cheeks and nose. He still laughed joyously without a care in the world. The sight alone warmed Pugsley's heart and had him laughing too. The cauldron was blown to pieces.
Hadrian - "Pugsley! Dad tried helping me with my Draught of Living Death potion, but he tossed Mandrake Roots in the cauldron!"
Gomez - "Hey! We created a new adhesive potion! I think I'll call it the Hadri-Stick! Or maybe the GoGo Freeze!"
Hadrian was in peals of giggles as was his father's silliness.
Pugsley - "Do you guys need help there?"
Gomez - "That would be splendid Pugsley my boy! Take your time!"
Gomez was laughing hysterically. Pugsley ran out to the dining room.
Pugsley - "Mom, can you help unstick Hadrian and Father from the wall?"
Morticia - "Of course I can. Mama, come with with me please."
Morticia followed her eldest to her husbands potion room, Grandmama Addams right behind her. Upon arrival, her youngest and husband were fast asleep, stuck to the wall.
Morticia - "Mama, I'll take Hadrian. I trust you can handle Gomez?"
Grandmama - "I got him dearie."
Having unstuck her youngest from the wall, she carried him up the stairs. Wednesday was already situated in his bed waited for him. She had her doll next to her and Hadrian's decapitated teddy bear on her other side. Morticia laid her child down, casting a silent scouring charm on him.
Morticia - "Good night, my children."
Giving bother her children a kiss, she left the room to check on her husband.
