"What are you talking about?" I was trying not to let my voice shake.

Hazel smirks and says "the little private chat that you had with Jasper, giving Chloe and Jasper some alone time in the morning, and then a few minutes ago in the class." my heart almost stops when I hear her say that. "All that planning that you're doing without involving you're gay friend cause you two don't really think him to be a part of the group and it was all just a pity friendship. "

But how did she know about our meeting? This bitch shouldn't know how nervous I am she wouldn't think twice to scare the shit outta me which she's kinda doing now. Clearly she can put all of our friendship in jeopardy. So I play along.

"Seriously? So now you're going to play the jealous ex-girlfriend? You know how pathetic that is?"

"Yeah maybe but do you know how fun it'll be if I tell this whole plan of yours with Jasper to Chloe and Leo? How you didn't involve Leo and kept him on the sidelines? How you didn't think it was important to tell Chloe about Jasper and your meeting before setting them up. Was it really about setting them up? Or was it because you wanted to spend some alone time with Jasper."

My heart's running at its max! God she makes me nervous and furious at the same time.

"Wait wait..." a smile creeps up on her face "How about you felt something when he grabbed you, dragged you to the men's washroom, cleaned the blood off your skin with his handkerchief and then asked you on a little date. How do you think that is going to make Chloe feel?" and she giggles.

There's an evil look on her face as if she was really imagining how bad she can mess things up for me. And she continues.

"Oh god! I can't wait to see the reaction on their faces! And yes to answer your question I am going to play the jealous ex-girlfriend. Actually you know what? I'll play the crazy jealous ex-girlfriend, how about that? Or you'll undo what you did."

Her voice sounds more and more confident. It's surprising how people can be so unconditionally mean.

Should I say something?I'm seriously out of words. I just looked at her with my eyes wide open. But I can't stay quiet. I'm sure that she won't think twice before ruining my friendship and taking Jasper away from Chloe.

"Undo what I did? What do you mean? And moreover, there's plenty of fishes in the sea. Why do you have to go for the one guy who broke up with you, embarrassed you in front of your father, made you apologize to him and never really loved you in the first place."

After I said that to Hazel, her face was covered with embarrassment. I hope this doesn't back fire, but I had to convince her not to do anything stupid. Hearing what I said she looked at me with irritated and angry eyes.

With the next thing said I kind of lost all my hope that she can behave like a sane human.

"Listen, you weirdo." Not that. I often hear people call me a weirdo. "Don't give me all that crap. Do as I say or both your friendships are going down the drain. Think about it, you really think Jasper is that important? I hate to say this but Chloe is smart and beautiful. She'll get over Jasper before you know it, and find someone else, your friendship won't be ruined and it's a win-win for both of us."

I don't get it! What is her obsession with Jasper? Jasper literally dumped her ass, but she just won't give up. It's like she doesn't want to love him, it's like she wants to own him.

"Now listen, you won't say a word to Jasper, you will talk to Chloe and influence her to not come together with Jasper so that Jasper thinks that Chloe is not into him anymore. Remember not to say anything to Jasper so that no one doubts me about having a part in it. Understood? Buh bye. "

And Hazel leaves.

I keep standing there hopeless with absolutely no clue about what I'm going to do. I know that Chloe really likes Jasper and would burst into tears and fire if she comes to know the truth about how Hazel manipulated Jasper. How Jasper never meant to hurt Chloe.

(My phone buzzed) It read 'message from Jasper'

Thank you so much Evelyn, you were right! Chloe does like me. It feels so good to finally be able to talk to her. I didn't tell her about our meeting but I told her everything about last year. And I told her that I'll arrange a small hangout in my place today evening with Evelyn and Leo to clear the air between all of us. And she seemed really happy and excited! So, meet you in the evening.

'Message from Chloe'

Evelyn!!!!!! Guess what! guess what! guess what! Jasper is tryna get me back! He told me everything.

This morning just after you and Leo went to the Library, Jasper was waiting by my locker to say hi, he said sorry about his behavior last year. I was not buying it at first but now I feel like he's really putting in some effort. He told me everything and now that I know the truth I feel so bad about him. But should I play hard to get? for a little bit longer? I mean he just broke up and he shouldn't be hitting on me so soon but also he was just never into Hazel so... you know what I'm saying right? I don't know... I might not be making sense. I'm just way too excited. You can have lunch with Leo today. I think I'm just gonna spend some more time with him.

It was all in text but I could hear her squeaking out of excitement. I have like a gazillion thoughts going on in my mind. I did not know which one to focus on. Leo must have seen me talking to Hazel.

He is going to ask me about it when I go back with soda cans. I cannot just be neutral about his every question he will definitely get suspicious about it.

Then tonight about the Hangout.

I have to stop Jasper from revealing anything about our plan to Chloe or else Hazel will just screw everything up. I have to find another way to sort things out. I mean I cannot convince Chloe to not be with Jasper. She sounded so excited and happy and I know she is.

I turn back and I couldn't find Leo, I keep looking around for him, when I hear someone whisper

"Hey" near my ears, he's so close that I feel his breath on my neck. I don't think it's just cause he was really close to me but he's breathing really fast.

I turn to the direction of that 'hey',

Liam.

C'mon! Why so hot?! I can't help but notice that he's breathing heavily and drops of sweat roll down his bicep. He runs his hands through his hair, his shirt's wet due to sweat.

Good god that's a pleasant view.

His cute brown eyes just look at me and I can't stop looking into them.

"I'm sorry, you have to excuse me for all the sweat. I was just playing football."

I don't mind at all. I did the evil laugh inside my brain.

"I didn't want to go all the way back to the class to grab my bottle. The cafeteria is out of soda. Do you mind if I take a sip from yours?"

I hear that he's saying something but it's not really clear. I can't resist but keep looking at his neck, collar bone every time he's breathing heavily his mouth would open and...

"Evelyn. Evelyn! You alright?"

His voice snapped me out of my dream. I gulped.

"Yeah yeah... I'm sorry, I was um... I had something in my mind." You. I had you in my mind. I clear my throat "You were saying?"

"I was actually asking for a sip from your soda... the cafeteria is out of soda so..."

"Yeah sure... I'm not thirsty anyways."

Or am I.

"Thanks." he gives me a smile and runs back to the field.

I realize that my eyes are stuck at him as he runs back to the field.

"Evelyn, what took you so long?" That voice restores my consciousness. Again. "I was waiting for you in the hallway "

"Leo hey, I was looking around for you. The cafeteria's out of soda. They had only one left."

"But I told you to meet me in the hallway. Anyways I think I saw you talking to Hazel. What was she saying?"

"Just being her usual self, she was asking me about Jasper and Chloe. I told her I did not know much about them myself. Bro I'm telling you she's obsessed with Jasper."

3:55 pm

School's almost over for the day. My eyes get caught by Hazel's serial-killing-stare in my direction.

I can't put my brain at rest.

"Mmm. That girl really hates you huh."

That's a familiar voice and there's a touch of smile on my lips.

I look at Liam and say "yep. Very much."

"Why? What did you do?" He crosses his arms with a cute cute cute smile on his face, his eyes all curious and mischievous. And he whispers "Stole her boyfriend? "

"Not exactly. My best friend did." and I point my finger to Chloe and Jasper sitting at the back corner.

"Those two? Really? Yeah I can tell. I did hear a few people talking about them as well. It seems like this Hazel girl is kind of a big deal." his eyebrows went up. I don't know if that's an 'impressed' look.

But why is he impressed? He shouldn't be impressed! Why is it bothering me? Oh lord.

"Yeah she is. It's kind of because her father is one of the richest businessmen in the town. Apart from that Hazel has no such qualities whatsoever to be liked by people. All she does is manipulate them, disrespect them and hurt them."

"Woh! This is news to me." Liam has confusion written all over his face. "She was very polite when she spoke with me earlier today."

"Really?" I looked at him with complete surprise on my face. I don't know what she is really planning. On one hand she is dying to have Jasper back, on the other hand she is talking to this new guy 'politely' that word is not to be found in her dictionary.

He smirks. Looks at me and says "Why? Do you not like it?" the cute- more like a mischievous smirk still sticking to his face.

"Not like what?" I feel my heart which is about to start racing.

"That she's talking to me?"

I was for sure not able to talk. The only thing that came out of my mouth was "uh".

He raises his eyebrows a little and says "sure looks that way" he rolls his lower lip in and holds it with his teeth before smiling again.

Seeing him talk like that to me I think he might have noticed me checking him out while he was asking for soda. Is that a good thing? I mean it looks like he's flirting back. Is this flirting back or is he just teasing me.

"Well you see, I have spent the last few years with Hazel and I know that she's not good news. You're kinda new here so... just be careful. You wouldn't know when she'll be spinning you on her finger tips."

"Well thanks for the heads up. But I thought you meant something else." that smirk didn't fade from his face though.

"Why would you think that?" I slightly laugh while saying that.

"I don't know. You had it on your face." he replies.

"Had what?"

He gives a little flirty grin "see you tomorrow" and leaves.
