I have been trying to find Chloe for the last 25 minutes. I looked everywhere but I couldn't find her. I come back to the first floor where I see something or someone which makes me stop moving.

It was Liam.

For a moment I felt like my heart was calming down, all the tension just fell apart. When I saw him smiling at me.

Wait.

But why is he smiling at me? Not that I'm complaining but with everything going on... everyone making absurd stories, I was expecting a much worse reaction.

Wait. Did he go crazy? Because of the post? And now he's a psycho? What? No. stop. I sigh.

Not until he knows that it was Hazel who did all this.

I slowly walk towards him. He comes closer to me. Cups my cheeks and puts a stand of my hair behind my ear. There is a little grain sticking to his lips.

He noticed that I wasn't looking at him the way I usually do. He furrowed his eyebrows, and rubbed my cheek with his thumb. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah I think I am" I just keep looking at his face, noticing every little detail, and why he's not mad. Or has he really become a psyc- "Are YOU ok?" I question him back.

"Actually now that you mention I did notice a lot of people looking at their phones and maybe giving me a funny look."

I look at Leo.

"Am I missing out on something?"

My eyes go over to Leo again and he looks just as shocked as I am. He did not see the post.

"Did you not see the post?" Leo comes over.

"What post? My phone was dead when I returned home after meeting you." Liam points towards me making me remember what an amazing time we had last night but only if I could dwell over that memory.

"I was so tired from all the football practice and you know..." Turns to me "thinking about you and thinking about you and thinking a little more about you." Don't blush, this is a tense situation.

Shit I'm gonna shy-smile. Dude knows how to make me fall for him even more. That too when I'm THIS stressed. "I actually fell asleep and I might have forgotten to charge my phone so I left it at home today.

"Liam. So there is something you should know." Leo drags his phone out of his pocket. "Yesterday evening there was a post on Instagram from an anonymous account" Leo opens the post and hands the phone over to Liam.

Liam raised his eyebrows, his eyes widened too and the little chuckle escaped his lips.

"Um... well, I have not been here for a long time but I guess, this is something that the psycho ex would do." We knew whom he was talking about.

"Good god!" Leo looks at me with amusement and says "Evelyn babe he is a keeper" making my cheeks go red

"Yes, that is her. She did this just to get back at me. I told her that Jasper and Chloe were not together anymore" but somehow figured out that they are still together and this is just Hazel being herself. Trying to ruin my reputation."

"So what do you plan on doing now?" asks Chloe.

"I just want to find Chloe and talk to her." I sigh. "Look I know that Chloe and I have been friends since the very beginning and it's very unlike her to ignore me. But still.... we're talking about Jasper and her relationship here. And now that I think, there might have been a series of things which may lead her to assume something wrong."

And just when we were talking to each other in the hallway, Leo points out.

"Hey is that Chloe?" I turn around.

Leo's right, that is Chloe. She went inside the class. I check my phone and the first period's about to start.

I see Mr Hyde entering the class just after Chloe.

"I think we all should get back to class. I mean Chloe's there and don't we have a test?" said Leo.

"Yeah we do."

We all head back to the class. Chloe sees me entering but doesn't say a word. I give her a blank, confused look.

Mr. Hyde starts distributing the question paper. I know that I've to stop thinking about the whole Chloe situation. I have to do well in this test and once the test is over, I'll get Chloe to talk to me.

The bell rings. My paper was done 10 minutes prior.

Mr. Hyde comes by to collect all the answer sheets. He came by my side, gave a glance at my paper. Then looked at me, there was the small grin on his face, kinda creepy, "so you are the star kid" 

I smile, awkwardly and I look down at my paper. he's just.... I don't know, doesn't give a very nice vibe. "Uh.... sorry?"

"No, I overheard some of the other teachers who take your class. You're a genius kid. I hope you will be the star kid of my class as well." Snatched my paper away as he was finished with the compliments.

I might have never felt this way about any teacher before, he appreciated me but it was like his words had some irony which I could not decipher.

Anyways.

I was not going to pay attention to anything else but Chloe now I turn around, she was about to get up.

"Trying to leave again?"

"Excuse me?" Said Chloe with irritation in her eyes.

"Chloe, you know you can't ignore me for the rest of our lives. You literally live across the street"

"I don't know. Maybe I would" Her face portrayed complete disinterest.

"You can't be serious, Chloe."

"Oh I'm dead serious."

"Seriously?! You're that mad at me because of that ridiculous anonymous post?" I look at her with amusement and disappointment. "Why have you been ignoring me all morning?"

"Excuse me?! I did not ignore anyone. You ignored me for the entire morning. You left for school early, I was standing by the gate ever since I arrived at school."

"Chloe, that's not true! I went to your place and your mum told me that you already left for school. And I've been trying to find you with Leo and Liam ever since I got here."

"Oh come on. Spare me the 'I'm innocent' act . And to answer your question, no, I am not mad at you, I am upset and heartbroken that of all people, you could do this to me." 

I couldn't believe any of the words that came out from Chloe's mouth. I mean I know that I have to explain to her about my whole plan with Jasper but she is accusing me of something this unbelievable.

"What?! Will you please sit down for a minute and talk to me."

"About what?!"  

"You are seriously going to ask me that. You wanna know what I'm talking about"

"why don't you ask the entire school, they have plenty of answers for your questions."

"I don't want to! I'm asking you. Will you please sit down for a min - -" Chloe cuts me before I could finish."

"Evelyn, I don't need any explanation. I got enough proof ok."

"See, that's what I am talking about. You're saying just a bunch of things that make no sense. Will you please tell me - -" Chloe cuts me again.

"You want an explanation, I will give you an explanation. Let's start from the beginning the day Jasper dragged you inside the washroom and helped you with all the bleeding, that! That was when you thought that maybe Jasper was into you or something." 

She made a face that clearly spoke how disgusted she was. "Jasper gave you his handkerchief just for the sake of stopping the blood, and you never returned it. You kept it to yourself so that..." she paused for a fraction of second and then resumed "I don't know and I don't wanna know for god knows what reason."

Wait. But how did she get that? Chloe noticed the confused look on my face and again started, "wondering how I got this" she chuckles, sarcastically, " of course you didn't want me to find this. I was searching for a book for today's test and instead found this. On the day when we went to Jasper's place you and Jasper left me with Leo in the room and then came back with a ridiculous plan of keeping Jasper away from me. But I never realized that it was not about Hazel being a danger to me, it was about you not willing to see me and Jasper together. And how you managed to get Jasper agree with this plan of yours, which clearly was a big success."

"Chloe. Did you even consider talking to Jasper about all this before accusing of something this ugly." I whisper with shame. Not cause what Chloe said but because she accused me of something like this.

"No, I didn't and I don't want to because he did something last year which wasn't enough for me to understand how big of a jerk he is. So now he decided to cheat on me with my best friend. But that's not what matters to me. You do. Actually, you did. He has been trying to call me since yesterday evening but I blocked him. He has a swimming tournament today, which he couldn't miss. Which makes it easier for me to ignore him." I pass a sigh "And I bet that you met with Jasper at the cafe just to take him on your side. Honestly, I didn't believe that post, until I stopped by your house in the morning because I thought you were late. Your mum cleared so many things up. She told me that you have already left for school and when I was about to leave your doorstep, she called me and said that I should accept that Jasper's not into me." I felt my heart just sank. My mouth remained agape.

"She did what?!"

"Oh. Enough with the acting already. She told me that you were afraid to tell me about your date. You thought that it would hurt me. Well... huh." She chuckles, mockingly "so much for not hurting me, right?"

"Chloe. My mother has no idea what she's talking about."

"Doesn't matter!!!" She screams "don't you understand? That I don't care what anyone does or says, all I ever cared was about you! Because you claim that I'm your best friend. And clearly she knows. Your mother knows about you and Jasper. She told me that you went out with Jasper a week ago. And when she said it, I remembered about the time I called you to tell you that I saw Jasper in our neighborhood, your mom clearly covered up for you. Because when I mentioned Jasper's name you immediately changed the topic."

Tears rolled down my eyes. I felt Liam's hand holding mine to stop me from crying.

"Chloe, you have it all wrong. I never meant for any of this to happen. Jasper and I are nothing but friends. "

"You are a horrible, horrible friend. A miserable human being." Says Chloe and leaves the class with tears in her eyes as well.

It was quite a successful chapter for, me, things just came to a full circle. it is really difficult keeping track of small details that'll lead to a big drama.
