PART- 94 (Never Give Up)
SIDHARTH POV
Over a year later...
After I came back from the office; I saw Sana's doctor Ms. Kriti in her room along with her parents and her nurse, Ms. Jennifer.
"Dad? What's going on here?" I ask, eyeing Dr. Kriti. She is sitting on the couch with a tensed face.
To be honest, I am not getting any good vibes over here. Something is wrong here. I can feel it, just looking at their expression. Dad looked tensed and Mum looked like, she was crying and maybe she is ready for another round of crying.
Instead of Dad, Dr. Kriti started to speak, "Mr. Shukla, it's been over a year now. Almost two years that Ms. Sana is in coma."
"I know that. Say something new."
Her expression turned serious, "So, I was think it's time for you guys to let her g—"
Before Dr. Kriti could complete her sentence, I snapped at her showing my anger and disapproval, "Don't you fucking dare complete that sentence, Dr. Kriti. We are not paying you for that."
What the fuck is wrong with her? Is she out of her mind? And, why her parents are quite? Do they agree with her proposal?
I am going crazy to be honest. Everything and everyone is making me crazy.
"It's not about money, Mr. Shukla. She is in pain. So, we should release her from her pain. Don't you want that? It's.." She tried to argue more but I didn't let her.
I snap, "It's your fucking job to keep her alive. If you can't do that, then we don't need you."
She should know what she is supposed to do here. She should do her job to keep her alive. Not to tell us to let her go. Let her die. When I can see her breathing in front of my eyes. How can I just stop it? How?
"But,"
"Are you fucking mad?" I say in anger. "Get out."
"But, Mr. Shukla? She is in pain. You should let her go. Mr. Gill?" She looks at her father as if he will support her.
Bitch
"I said leave Dr. Kriti." I snap again before her father comes in her words. I can see him thinking about it.
What's wrong with him?
"Son, I think she is rig..."
"No." I snap. I am more angry right now. "She is not right. Dad. Even you."
How could he? Doesn't he love his daughter?
Of course, he does. But not as much as I do. He ignored her half of her life than loved her. He won't understand what it feels like to live a life without her. He has his love, his wife, Mum.
But, what about me? No one thinks about me. I have to be selfish. I have to protect her. I can't give up on her. On my love. Like she never gives up on me. Then how can I do that?
"It's not happening." I told them again.
"Mr. Shukla, you are in pain." Dr. Kriti said.
I snap, "I am not in pain."
She gives me a sympathetic look.
"Don't give me that look. I. Am. Fine."
"Mr. Shukla, her father told me what you did last night. It wasn't healthy."
I immediately looked at her father.
He nods. "It's not good for you son. You were acting like a mad person last night. I hear you yelling. You were threatening her, that you will leave her and marry someone else. You did it to wake her up?"
I am ashamed to do that. It was stupid. I acted stupid.
"I wasn't serious about that."
"I know that, son. We know that. But it's not right. You're going in depression. You are depressed." He said, getting worried for me.
"I am fucking fine for God's sake." I yell in irritation. "What's wrong with you all?"
I hate them.
"Mr. Shukla, you are in depression for seeing her like this. It's affecting you both physically and mentally. Mr. Gill told me you have lost many pounds, means you don't eat properly. You have dark circles under your eyes means you do sleep well. You are lost most of the time. You just work at the office then come back home and lock yourself in the room with her. Her absence is affecting you. Bad."
I snap, "You're absolutely right, Dr. Kriti." She smiles at my words as if I finally understood her words.
"Good. So, it's better to let her,"
I snapped, "Don't you dare doctor." Her smile fades. "What I'm saying is that, her absence is affecting me. It's true. So, how can you all," I eyed her parents, "take her away from me?"
"Son, it's hard for us. But it's needed for you. We can't see you like this." Her father's words make me angry and Mum cry hugging him.
"You know what, fuck you all. I will take my Princess back to our house. Tonight." I declared my decision making them gasp in shock.
"Sidharth you can't do this. She is my daughter." Dad argued.
"The daughter you want to kill?" He hissed on my words. "It's true. You want to kill her. So, I'm doing this to protect her. You're no one to stop me." I told him, firmly.
"Sidharth, I agreed to it, for you. You think I don't love my daughter?" He looked hurt.
I don't care. "Think what you want to think Dad."
"Sidharth, I need her. Please." Mum begged.
"I don't care. You both want to snatch her away from me. So, I am taking her home. I'm sure she will wake up at OUR home. That's her actual home. So, I'm doing this. And no one will stop me." I told them my last decision.
I look at Dr. Kriti "You're fired. I don't need you. I will hire a better doctor for her."
"Do what you want Mr. Shukla. But I said what was best for you both. Good luck." Saying she left
I am quick to take out my phone from my pants pocket and call the hospital for an ambulance to shift Sana.
"Hello!" A lady's voice comes from the other side.
"Hello! I need an ambulance to shift one of your hospital patients named Sana Gill from her parents house to our house." I told her.
Mum comes to me running, "Sidharth, don't do this. I need her. Please."
I ignored her. "Can you send one please?" I asked the receptionist girl.
"Sana Gill?" There's a silence for a moment then she added, "Who is in coma?"
It's hurting me but I need to inform her, "Yes. Who is in coma. I want to shift her to our house. Is any ambulance available right now?"
Mum runs towards Dad seeking help to stop me. "Suraj, stop him."
"Sidharth, don't do it." Dad yelled at me.
On the call, there's a silence for a moment before she answers, "Yes, sir. Can you tell me the address please?"
"Sure." I give her both the address of her parents house and our house.
"I'll send an ambulance right away sir. It will reach there after an hour." She informed me.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome sir." She hung up the call.
"Sidharth, I won't let you do this. Sana is my daughter. She will stay here only." Dad yell.
"Sorry. But I have to shift her at our home. I have a strong feeling that she will wake up there. We have so many beautiful and positive memories there. She will wake up." I really do feel that.
Mum looked unsure but agreed. "I really hope you're right Sidharth." She looks at Sana, "I can't see her like this anymore."
"I know, Mum." I pulled her for a hug and look at Dad. "I really feel she will wake up there."
He nods, "I hope so, son."
After an hour, the ambulance came with two men for help. Sana, I and her nurse Ms. Jennifer head towards our house. They helped me to set her on bed and left. But Ms. Jennifer stayed back for help. I guided her to our guest room and order dinner for us.
"I'll call you for dinner after sometime." I told her.
"Okay, sir."
I left her room, and head back in ours and claimed in bed, and covered her with a duvet setting the AC temperature in low.
It's June.
I looked at her with a sad smile.
It's been over one and a half years now that, she is in a coma. Her wounds and cuts got healed long ago. Few marks are there on her body, but not that visible. I was wrong, her face is again flawless. Those marks are now gone, for good. Her beautiful long hair in back, too. She won't freak out anymore, which is good.
Everything is back to normal. It's just, she is not ready to come back in my life to make it normal.
I don't know, how to live? How to smile? How to laugh? How to be happy? How to sleep peacefully? How to be in peace? There's nothing good in my life. Because, everything was good with her. Without her, I am nothing. Just nothing.
I lay down next to her holding her hand, until the delivery man comes with our food. I served our food in two plates. Then I called her for dinner. Ms. Jennifer and I had our dinner with a little chit chat, then we head back to our respective rooms saying a quick "good night" to each other.
Ms. Jennifer is a good woman. Very polite and gentle. She is of my mother's age. She sometimes calls me 'beta' with love. I like her.
"Hey! Princess." I greet her, after locking our bedroom door.
I crawl in bed and sit comfortably on my side, holding her hand and talk with her. I do it all the time, hoping for some response from her.
"How are you feeling now? Are you happy that we are home? Our home? Can you feel the warmth of it? The positive vibes?" I ask, kissing her upper hand.
"Do you remember what day it will be after," I check the time from my phone. It's 10:13. "Around two hours? Hah?"
I kissed her knuckles softly, "It's our anniversary baby. Our 2nd anniversary of dating."
This is another reason why I took her here. This is the place where I confessed my love to her. Where we become one. Where we lived for months. I just hope this house brings her back in consciousness.
"Princess? Remember? How I went nuts without seeing you for two months? How I become so desperate to see you? To meet you? To talk to you? To tell you how much I love you? How much I miss you? Remember?"
That time it was just two months and I was a mess. And, here it's over one and a half year. How can I be in my sane mind?
"You know I planned a big surprise for you. I just hope you don't kill me for that. So, I am saying sorry in advance. Okay?"
After that I lay down beside her holding her hand close to my chest looking at her, waiting for the clock to show 12.
Around two hours later..
"Happy 2nd anniversary, Princess." I yelled excitedly, then kissed her forehead.
I sit straight on bed, holding her hand close to my chest again.
It's two years of our togetherness. Two years of our dating.
Two years ago, on this day I confessed my love to her. When I called her at my home, our home. I still remember she was wearing my favorite sexy red dress, looking like a bomb.
We confessed. We kissed. We talked for hours. We smiled. We laughed. At this house. At our home.
In short, we were happy.
I look at her with a sad smile. "Today is a special day for us. And, I need you here with me. To celebrate. But—"
I can't believe this is happening. With me. With her. With us.
"Aren't you getting bored? Tired? Irritated? Angry? Anything? For sleeping for so long?" I asked her, and kissed her knuckles softly.
I love to show her love.
No response came from her.
"I miss you." I felt my vision was getting blur. I know I'm about to cry.
"Why? Are you torturing me like this? Don't you love me? Don't you want to see me happy? Smile? Hah? Tell me?" I ask, and took a deep breath to control myself from crying.
"Why are you doing this to me, Sana? Please get up." I beg her quietly. "Please get up,"
Next moment I started to cry my heart out.
After half an hour, I finally stopped crying thinking she will get hurt seeing me broken like this. But it's all her fault. She is making me weak. Her absence is making me feel weak.
"It's time for your gift. But wait a moment," I drink some water then look back at her smiling a little. It's a fake one.
Then, I pull out a small black velvet box from my pants pocket, and open it.
There's a platinum ring with a big princess cut diamond on top. It's simple yet elegant. Just the way she likes. It has a small message inside the ring. It says, "You're my world Princess"

"You want to see your anniversary gift?" I pull out the ring and hold it in front of her face. As if she will see it and get excited and get up to hug me or kiss me or maybe both.
"Can you see this ring? The message? Isn't it beautiful?" I asked her, kissing her left hand.
"You know, it will look more beautiful in your ring finger." I slide the ring in her ring finger.
"It's actually looking beautiful, Princess." I kiss her finger then the ring
"There's another surprise for you. Look here," I forward my left hand near her face, as if she can really see it.
"See, I have engraved your name on my ring finger. Did you like this tattoo? It's permanent." I told her with a big smile. This one is genuine.
"We are engaged." I announced, then I kissed her knuckles softly.
"Are you happy? Excited? Or mad?" I ask.
"Whatever! It doesn't matter to me. Because, once you wake up; I will marry you as soon as possible." I declare my decision to her, hoping she is listening to my words.
I want her to wake up either getting excited or getting angry. I want her to hug me, kiss me in happiness. Or slaps me in anger for getting engaged with her, when she is in coma.
She didn't slap me, or kiss me or hug me. She did nothing. It's making me upset.
"If you don't wake up soon. I'll marry you like this only." I threatened her.
I don't know why I do this?
"I am very serious about it, Sana. Right now, I'm thirty-eight and you're twenty-three. Two years of dating is enough before getting married. Actually, I can't wait anymore. I am desperate to make you mine, forever." I told her what I want to do.
It's true, I want to marry her as soon as possible. I want to make her mine by all means. Even if she is awake or not, to see it, to enjoy it. I know, she will kill me for this when she wakes up. But I need this. I need her.
I want to make her mine, lawfully. If not, then religiously. I will give her seven promises, then I will fill her hairline with kumkum, and make her wear the holy neptual chain. Wedding done.
"I need you, Princess. I need you so bad. I want you in front of me all the time. Walking. Talking. Laughing. Or anything. But not like this." I told her.
"Please say something?" I beg. "Anything?"
Obviously she didn't speak. And, here I lost my temper.
"Why are you not talking, Sana? I am talking to you right? Speak up? Will you?" I say in anger.
I continued to yell at her, "You never speak to me. And I hate it. I just hate it. I hate everything. I hate you. For doing this to me. You are making me crazy Sana. Are you fucking listening to me? You are making me crazy."
I buried my face in my palm, crying, feeling angry on everything but mostly on me, for shouting at her.
How could I shout at her? How could I?
I grab her hand and kiss multiple times seeking forgiveness, "I am sorry. I am so sorry Princess. Please forgive me. I'll never do this ever again. I promise. I won't. It's just, I miss you a lot."
I kissed her hand for the last time before laying down beside her, still holding her hand close to my chest.
"Good night, Princess." I wished her before trying to sleep, but sleep is far away from me.
So, I did what I usually do. I keep staring at her beautiful face, until I feel tired and fall asleep hoping for something good to happen tomorrow like any other day.
"I'll never give up on you. Just wake up for me." This was the last words before I close my eyes to sleep, holding her hand.
