{My Hero Acadamia} That's My Mom!

"I can't remember this funny video I saw, like I know what happened, but I don't remember what was all said." Kirishima moped sadly.

Hailey patted his head that rested on his desk. She swung her body from side to side in the wheely chair. How could no one else be a little shit about it? She was having the time of her life on those things.

"Is it the one with the frog puppet?" Kaminari questioned.

Kirishima raised his head up triumphantly, "YEAH!"

"Oh you the the one that goes," Hailey turned away from the boys and turned back at them, "Shawdy I don't- miiind." She re-enacted it perfectly matching the voice.

The two of them looked at her in awe, "HOW?!"

Hailey shrugged her shoulders, "I watched some Muppets when I was younger. I can also do this." She ducked under the desk and then jumped on her feet in a confident superhero pose. "Everything will be fine, why? BECAUSE I AM HERE!" She recreated a perfect replica of the mighty hero All Might's voice.

Just then Midoriya ran into the room, "All Might's here?!" He questioned with excitement.

Hailey laughed, "Nope that was just me."

Midoriya looked disappointed for a moment then looked back at her in confusion, "How could you do a perfect replica of his voice?!" He asked.

"The same way I can do the explosive pomerianian's voice, silly boy." Hailey answered, in the voice of Bakugou.

"HEY! Quit doing my voice, Carrot Hair!" Bakugou yelled at her.

"C'mon Bakugou, be a little more creative." Hailey smirked, "It's my second quirk I mentioned on the first day; Voice Manipulation." Hailey explained to her classmates. "Anyone who I've heard speak for a certain amount of time, I can recreate their voice for awhile. If I use it too much, I lose my voice and end not being able to talk for a couple hours. One time I used it so much that I got strep throat."

Midoriya immediately took out his Quirk Analysis book and took notes about his classmate's quirk. He thought she would do a big reveal like she did on the first day, but this was a lot more simmered down.

"Ooh! Can you do my voice next?" Mina asked.

"Me too!" Added Kirishima.

"Do Mr Aizawa's!" Requested Sero.

"Settle down, Class." Mr Aizawa called as he walked in the classroom, the students had to turn to see that it wasn't Hailey just joking with them and that their actual homeroom teacher was entering the classroom, not looking to be in a good mood.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That was only moments ago, back when she wasn't ready to commit murder to whoever decided testing students on the second week of school.

Hailey grimaced as she examined the test paper that laid on her desk in front of her. She studied every word in the question slowly and more than once, in order to avoid misinterpreting what the question was asking of her. She did that a lot in school.

'Which hero ended the war in 1734?'

Hailey felt like digging a deep hole and crying in it for eternity.

Being that Japanese and Quirk history were not her strong suit, she felt her palms sweat in stress. How was she supposed to recall something she learned in her last year as a middle school student. She didn't remember having time to study for review while training for the final part in her acceptance exam to even get into U.A.

She didn't feed into her temptation to look at Midoriya to her left and see if he was as stumped as she was. Already she could hear his pencil quickly scribbling his answers.

'Of course he knows the answers!' She cried in her head, 'He studies heroes and their quirks for fun. Midi excels in these kinds of thing, he makes school look so easy!'

Before Hailey could proclaim her defeat, everyone turned their heads to the classroom door, where a fairly loud knock could be heard.

Mr Aizawa looked at the door from his hand book.

"Come in." He called to the person on the other side of the door.

They obliged and opened the door to reveal the All too familiar blonde hair pulled pack into a ponytail and dress-jacket that rested on her shoulders. Hailey grinned widely.

"Is Hailey Roselle in this class?" The woman questioned.

Before her teacher could answer, Hailey sat on her knees on her chair and waved at the woman.

"Hi mom!" She excitedly greeted.

Everyone looked at the woman that Hailey claimed to be her mother and spotted the similarities of the two. The two shared a similar facial structure and the same eyes. Mineta would have commented on some other ones, but got a death glare from Aizawa, he took the hint and kept to himself.

"Ah, there she is. Sorry, but the principal told me that I could take her and talk to you afterwards, Mr Aizawa." Hailey's mother stated, looked at the home room teacher.

"Not a problem, she'll just have to finish her test when she gets back tomorrow." Mr Aizawa responded.

"Sounds like a plan Mr Aizawa!" Hailey declared, already grabbing her things and walking to the front of the class.

"See ya tomorrow guys!" Hailey waved to them and exited with her mother.

"You had a quiz today?" The class could hear her mother question her daughter loudly.

"It surprised me too!" Hailey defended.

———

"So thanks for saving me from that test, I had no clue which hero ended the war of whatever." Hailey joked.

"Hail, you know you can't afford to fall behind like that." Her mother said, concerned that her daughter didn't realize how easy it would be for  her to fall back into her habits if she didn't work hard.

"I know," Hailey sighed, "I plan on getting a study buddy, like you seen that green haired kid with the freckles?"

Her mother chuckled, "I didn't have time to scan your entire class, despite the colour assortment there was."

Hailey giggled, "Yeah well this super smart kid, Izuku Midoriya, yeah, he takes so many notes about everything for fun!"

"Good, I almost asked Enji if Shouto would study with you." Her mother said, as they exited the school and she opened the door to her car.

Hailey sat down in the front, "Oh, Todoroki, I haven't really talked to him a lot. I wouldn't want to force him to socialize with me."

"You're calling everyone by their last names?" Her mother questioned in a bit of surprise, knowing her daughter's habits.

"Yeah its a weird transition, but you know, I wanna respect my peers and call them what they are comfortable with. Wouldn't want to be the super forward girl who makes everyone uncomfortable, nobody would want to be my friend!" Hailey explained. "Also, just because Endeavour is your friend, doesn't mean me and his son are besties. That is a transition too."

Her mother looked at her daughter softly, "Fair enough, but still, that's very kind and mature of you."

"Anyways, what's this whole thing about? And why do you have to talk to Mr Aizawa?" Hailey bluntly questioned.

"I'm taking you out of school so we can test out your quirks, make sure you don't have anymore and see your control. Also, a whole lot of paperwork that I didn't realize were due yesterday." Her mother explained and looked at her daughter's hands that rested on top of her book bag. "You've been biting your nails again."

"Mom! Do we have to do this again?" Hailey grumbled.

"Well if you feeling overwhelmed, you can always ask for a school councillor or call Luka or Yuri." Her mother tried to suggest.

"It's fine, I'm still just getting used to this whole school thing, okay? Don't worry about me, I've got friends who have my back too!" Hailey tried to reassure her mother's concerns. "Besides, you've got an agency to run, don't worry about me!"

"Alright then."

———

It was after school and Hailey was at home while her mother went back to the school to speak to Mr Aizawa. Hailey had a silent prayer for his safety, because he didn't look like the type of person sugarcoat his opinion of someone and her mother was very overprotective but could be reasoned with.

As she opened the door to the staff room, Mr Aizawa was pouring himself a cup of coffee before he noticed her.

"Melodie Roselle, you aren't a member of the staff, you can't be in here." He told her in a monotoned voice.

Melodie crossed her arms in front of her chest, "I assumed since you weren't in your classroom, this is where you would be." She responded.

He sighed, "True, normally parents would just wait 15 minutes before going to the principal's office to say I've been avoiding them."

The blonde smirked, "I know how dealing with the faculty works, Mr Aizawa."

"So, do you want to talk to me in my classroom or here about how your daughter has a problem with my teaching?" Aizawa questioned, assuming that was the reason for his student's parent's visit.

"Wherever is fine." Melodie responded, she followed him out of the staff lounge to his classroom. "And actually, Hailey doesn't dislike your teaching."

Aizawa looked at the woman in surprise, "She doesn't?"

Melodie nodded, "Yeah, I was shocked too. She says that you motivate her and give her a better idea of what being a hero will take."

"Oh, well that's a new one." Aizawa commented quietly.

"I recall my daughter coming home on her first day, saying how cool her home room teacher Mr Aizawa was." Melodie said, as she remembered the excited face of her daughter the moment she saw her return from her first day at U.A.

"Mom! You should have seen it! He looked like a homeless dude but then like glowed up!" Hailey exclaimed as she munched on a slice of cheesy pepperoni pizza. Her mother across the table from her smiled at her daughter. "Then he made us do a quirk test, I kinda hid mine because you know I've always thought that would be cool. He even added to the suspense by saying I needed to use my quirk fully!"

"You really are the dramatic one." Her mother laughed at her daughter's antics.

"Duh, that's why I was so good in that class play!" Hailey quipped and snickered, "Anyways, he isn't like the other teachers I've had! Sure, Ms Clover was super nice and supportive, but in that hero course, Mr Aizawa tells it how it is and puts everything into perspective. I find it motivating."

"But he is willing to help you with things you don't understand, right?" Her mother questioned, a bit of concern in her voice.

Hailey shrugged her shoulders, "He hasn't brought it up and I'm a bit too scared to ask him." She replied honestly.

"Hailey."

"I know, I know, but it's only the first day, I'll have it figured out in the second or third week." Hailey told her mother.

Melodie sighed, "Okay, if you say so. But if I need to go all momma bear on him, you let me know."

Hailey giggled, "Of course mom."

"Hailey does her best to make me not worry, but she's been through a lot the past two years. I need her to be okay and the person that she wants to be." Melodie continued as she smiled to herself about her daughter's determination.

"I can see that she values helping her classmates a lot, she wants to build them up." Mr Aizawa added. "It's a heroic mindset, that's for sure."

"But here's the thing, the kind of pressure of this prestigious school will get to her, and then she'll fall back into a ball of stress, which causes her to have anxiety attacks. It will happen if she doesn't get a lot of support. Sometimes a mother isn't enough." Melodie expressed her real concerns to the teacher.

"Never would of thought that she would have dealt with all that. All her file said that you are her general parent and she went to a rural school." Aizawa pondered aloud.

"Yeah, that's the thing too, all of this is so new to her, but she can adapt fast. I just need you to kinda look out for her. I can't count on Enji to ask his son to do that. Our kids aren't as close as I would have liked. Just as a teacher, if she's having a bad day, could you check on her or reach out to me?" Melodie requested after a small ramble.

"I don't condone favouritism, but I'll keep an eye out for her." Aizawa agreed.

"Thank you, Shouta." Melodie smiled.

Aizawa looked at her for a moment.

"Crap, sorry Hailey's been getting into the whole call someone by their last name thing and I'm not following it that closely." Melodie apologized, embarrassed.

"It's fine, we're both adults. I'll just call you Melodie so we're even." Aizawa brushed it off, allowing Melodie to smile at ease.

"Thanks again, I really appreciate it." She thanked and turned to leave. "And you can call me 'Mel'."
