{My Hero Acadamia} Sports Festival (Pt 2)
As everyone raced into the doorway, Hailey already realized how crowded it would be, as well as the difficulty it would be to push through all the bodies, so she boosted herself above the crowd and propelled herself ahead of the rest of the students. She knew that others would quickly follow, so as she landed on her feet, she began a steady paced run.
She knew that everyone who was smart enough to realize what was happening and came up with a plan would pass her. To that she would follow the lead of whoever she felt had the best chance.
Hailey then decided against her original plan, she got here on her own wits, if luck was on her side, she would continue to make decisions for herself. She couldn't rely on someone else to win for her.
Upon hearing others yell at Todoroki, Hailey had boosted her jump to avoid the sudden coldness of the ice. She smirked, ice was something she grew up on, she slides and skated on it for fun.
'This will be fun, I don't need to know your weaknesses Todoroki. I will best you and you'll understand why I'm in this class. Ironically, maybe you would have learned my weaknesses.'
Hailey looked back behind her to see Todoroki catching up to her, a lot of students behind them as well. Just then, she saw Mineta proclaim that he had bested Todoroki's attack, only to be hit by a giant robot.
"So this is what they faced during the entrance exam." Todoroki commented.
'That's right, he got in on recommendation.'
Visibly unhappy about this part of the course, Hailey glared at the robots that were from the entrance exam. She didn't like being cornered with Todoroki, not when he made it clear that he was competing with everyone and would not cooperate to work together.
"They obviously went through of lot of trouble, but I wish they prepared something a little more difficult." Todoroki spoke to no one in particular and completely encased the robot in ice with a swift motion.
Hailey immediately took the opportunity and began to run again, "You know, you could be an artist, Todoroki!" She teased as she ran ahead of him. "I know I'd buy one of your ice sculptures."
She knew that teasing him would only further aggravate him, but she decided that she would show him on what great friendship he was missing out on.
She then heard someone exclaim that they saw the opening between its legs, only for Todoroki to reply that he froze the robot while it was off balance, on purpose.
'Okay this guy is honestly making it real difficult to want to be friends with him.' Hailey thought in distaste. She then felt the ground move as the robot collapsed behind them.
Present Mic commented on Todoroki's attack being very spectacular, as well as Hailey's reflexes to take the opening.
Aizawa commented that the attack was both offensive and defensive, as well as Hailey's action being very clever and adaptive.
Hailey then heard that Kirishima made a hardcore debut. She couldn't help but smile at her friend probably screaming how he is alive or how he was a man.
Hailey then came to a very complicated looking terrain.
'Oh shitshitshit, if I wait too long Todoroki and the others will catch up. I don't want to use my quirk too much or I'll just such a bad migraine and nose bleed.' Hailey thought in a panic.
Hailey then shook her head and backed up. She then took off in a running start and jumped in the air, creating a large wavelength to boost her over the large obstacle.
She took an unsteady breath, feeling blood drip from her nose, as she landed on the ground. She continued to run, wiping her nose and looking over her shoulder to see Todoroki ice the wires and slide past the course with ease, then noticed Bakugou using his quirk to propel himself in the air.
'Damn, didn't think our quirks were that alike.'
Hailey then stopped at the large open land that was explained to have mines in it. She immediately took notice of the circles which most likely had mines in them. She quickly debated whether she could cost losing first place and making her way across the field or using whatever power she had left to use to get over the entire field. Looking at the distance of the field, she decided it would be too long to use her quirk before most likely fainted. It wasn't like she used it a lot, but all the running and anxiety made her feel more light headed.
Hailey head the jogging footsteps of Todoroki approaching quickly and decided to take her chances and go across the field. She was mindful of the mines ;)
She wouldn't allow him or Bakugou to take that first place, not people who were so selfish to leave disadvantaged for others.
Bakugou made his entire class targets for everyone in rivaling classes, while Todoroki left a mess of obstacles in everyone's way, almost killing a few if they were not aware of their surroundings.
Hailey heard the loud Bakugou pass Todoroki and she knew that she was next. Then suddenly heard that he attacked the other. She was anything but pleased that on a mine field of all places, Bakugou decided to try and land a hit on the half and half quirk holder.
She then heard Midoriya yell that he wasn't giving up. Hailey felt herself realize something.
She heard a giant explosion behind her and turned to see that Midoriya was gliding on a piece of robot in the air. She noticed the arch would send him down in front of her, but not enough for him to recover and get to the lead. She then did something that nobody was expecting.
As Midoriya was falling, Hailey angled her fist and charged up one last boost and pushed Midoriya to the end of the mine field.
Someone like Midoriya needs to win, show everyone what hope and determination could obtain.
(I love when Danganronpa and Undertale crossover ;))
"What is this?! Did Roselle just give up her lead to push Midoriya to the end of the course?! Ooh she'll be feeling the after effects of that much quirk use in a bit." Present Mic commented, as Hailey looked at Midoriya and nodded.
He'd have a smoother landing than his initial take off would allow him.
With that Midoriya was so much closer to the stadium. She followed as Todoroki and Bakugou passed her in the hot pursuit of chasing Midoriya.
By the time Hailey got to the stadium, she placed 5th behind a vine haired girl.
Midoriya turned and ran to her to thank her for helping him, but ended up catching her as she fell forward.
"H-Hailey! Are you alright?!" He questioned in a panic.
Hailey let out a shaky breath, "I don't feel so hot, but I'm glad that it was you who got first place. Just give me about half an hour to recover, I used my quirk too much." She explained, laughing at herself.
She wiped her nose and tapped on her head. "At least the ringings gone down." She said after a minute of just leaning on her classmate.
Kirishima ran over and asked if his friend was okay.
Hailey nodded, "Now I'm a bit better, mom's gonna kill me for over doing it though."
"But that was the manliness thing I've ever seen! You literally gave up your 1st place holding for Midoriya!" Kirishima encouraged her.
"So I guess I really kicked ass." She smiled, then turned to Midoriya again, "oh my god, I didn't literally kick your ass, did I?!" She asked horrified that she didn't notice such a thing.
"O-o-oh n-nu-no you didn't!" Midoriya squeaked.
"Thank god, that would have been embarrassing, but kinda good meme material." Hailey said aloud.
———
Next was the Calvary battle, Hailey sighed in defeat. She now had a headache and most likely would only be able to use her vocal manipulation quirk. Suddenly, she got a dark idea, whoever's team she was on would greatly appreciate her.
Then she looked to see her options.
Midoriya had a ten million point advantage, which made her consider how he was handling it mentally. The boy was a nervous wreck as it was, but he was a good strategist. He worked well under pressure it seemed.
Then there was Todoroki, who had great athletic ability as well as quirk value. He had great quick responses to the challenges to the obstacles, but since he was not very social, perhaps his leadership skills would lack.
Bakugou was very powerful, it was still a mystery to why people were drawn to him. It obviously wasn't because of his personality.
But then there was the purple haired boy who threatened to take someone's place in her class. Something told her not to speak to him only if he was a last option.
"Hailey!" She turned to see Midoriya calling her, he was accompanied by Uraraka and a pink haired girl.
"Would you be on our team?" Uraraka asked, looking desperate.
"Uh if you are sure that you want me." Hailey replied.
"Perfect you can be our secret diversion with your vocal quirk." Midoriya explained to her in a serious tone.
Hailey nodded, "Sounds like a plan."
As Midoriya recruited Tokoyami, Hailey studied the competition. Everyone would be after them, to that, she frowned. Her stamina wasn't fully recovered yet and she didn't want to let her team down. Their main plan was to avoid and outrun everyone until the time ran out.
"Where am I going to stand?" Hailey questioned her team leader, seeing that everyone else had a proper placement. It didn't help that the rules stated that 5 people would be a bit much for a team, but Midnight didn't seem to be too upset about discarding Team Midoriya's amount of people.
"You know the most about balance, I'll need you to hold me and help me direct everyone. If we need a plan B, you can use your quirk to confuse everyone." Midoriya described to her.
"Alright, sounds good, I've heard about everyone here threaten you and the rest of the class for a solid half an hour. Plus I can give us a few Boosts if we really needed it."
"Don't push yourself too hard, Roselle. There is still a lot of the festival to get through." Tokoyami piped in.
Hailey gave him a thumbs up, "Okay, I'll save it as a last resort, it's Midi's call." She then went into her place and held firmly onto Midoriya's waist, he flinched at the sudden contact.
"Sorry, didn't realize you were ticklish." Hailey giggled with Uraraka.
———
As the Calvary battle progressed, Hailey did her part to keep the boy steady, while she maneuvered with the rest the group. Along the way, she was coloured impressed with Dark Shadow's ability and her birdheaded classmate's control over them.
"Oh my god, guys come back my head fell off!" The voice of one of the rider's caught the attention of those carrying him.
One of them tripped on their feet, causing the group to fall down. Before they reached the ground, Midoriya grabbed their headband.
"Nice diversion Hailey!" Midoriya praised her.
Hailey winked, "They make it too easy!"
Suddenly the group found themselves Cavour to be sandwiched by Tetsutestu and Shoji, Uraraka gasped as she was found stuck to a purple ball produced by Mineta, who was hiding behind Shoji's appendages, and with Tsuyu!
"We gotta move!" Tokoyami exclaimed, and Hailey noticed the attacks from the frog and grape coming right for Midoriya.
"You gotta dodge fast, Midi!" Hailey urged him.
"Right!" Midoriya then dogged the tongue and sticky attacks sent his way, as Uraraka tried to get unstuck.
"Girls, watch out I'm taking off!" Midoriya announced quickly before taking off once again with the jet pack.
"My baby's broken!" Sobbed Hatsume.
"Bakugou incoming, twelve o clock!" Hailey shouted at the sight of Bakugou using his explosions to take flight after the team.
Hailey told everyone to turn, after they leaned in the direction, Hailey did a roundhouse kick to knock the explosive male back down to the ground.
"If he wasn't going to kill me, I'd say that's an achievement!" She boasted happily.
As they landed back on the ground, Midoriya considered what their options remained.
Just as the 7 minute mark hit, everyone looked shocked to see that Bakugou had lost his headband by that cocky Class 1-B student. Who then began to pick at Bakugou, who had a murderous scowl on his face. His plan had changed.
Just as Midoriya thought outloud that they would okay, Todoroki and his group stood before them.
"I'll be taking that headband now." Todoroki told Midoriya.
"In your dreams, Icepack!" Hailey yelled at him, sticking out her tongue.
"It's only the second half, we can't give up now!" Midoriya shouted.
Todoroki instructed his team to move forward and be ready to attack and defend.
"Be aware of your surroundings!" Midoriya commanded his comrades. "Everyone's after us!"
Just then, Kaminari used an attack that took out the entire competition, using Yaoyorozu's quirk as a conductor to the ground and making a shield of protection. Then, Todoroki used the conductor to freeze the competition's feet to the ground.
As they managed their options outloud, the team found themselves cornered.
"Midi, should is it time for that wild card?" Hailey questioned in a worried tone.
'A minute left'
"Oh shit is he charging up?!" Hailey noticed Iida's legs giving off a sound and starting up.
Before Midoriya could say anything, Todoroki sped past them and grabbed the headband.
"I told you Midoriya, I'd do my best to beat you." Iida looked at him proudly.
"We have to get that headband back! We don't know who has what headband!" Midoriya cried.
Hailey then nodded, "Uraraka, let's get him there!" She looked at the girl, who nodded too in response.
"Hang on!" Hailey announced and charged up her quirk under her and the girl's feet.
"NOW!"
She then took off and Uraraka's quirk added the needed speed that the team needed.
When Midoriya grabbed the 70 point headband by mistake, they charged one more time.
"Hailey, can you do it one more time?!"
"Hell YEAH!"
———
Todoroki came in first place, Bakugou in second while Midoriya came in fourth, due to Tokoyami's fast thinking on grabbing the headband around Todoroki's head earlier.
As Midoriya began to cry tears of joy, Hailey rubbed her temples in an attempt to ease the pain of the headache that returned after using her quirk like she did.
"Are you going to be okay, Roselle?" Uraraka asked her in a concerned tone.
Hailey nodded, "Mhm, I think after having a little nap and some medicine I'll be in fighting shape. Then I'll be ready for the one on one battles!"
———
"That son of yours is very resourceful." Melodie smirked, as she stood beside the literal flaming man beside her.
"Shouto is very strong, but is holding back." The flaming hero, Endeavor stated, "But that daughter of yours has quite the limit to her quirk."
Melodie's smirk did not falter, "That was just her nerves, after resting for a small bit, you'll see why my daughter isn't one to be messed with."
"Same goes for my son."
