Grew up with smokers and drinkers
Sometimes think that's what's best
Says it relaxes the racing thinkers
Pick up a bottle and light a cigarette

I had my first taste as a child of six
Didn't like the taste of their gold
A boy I liked handed me my first drag
Never looked back after that day

A few a day wasn't so bad was it?
Preteens acting like grown adults
We were wild and rebellious kids
 Buncha wiseass little daredevils 

Ran with a not so good crowd
And Loved every moment of it
Sure we got into trouble daily
Nothin' else to do in this town

Skipped school to go lay on the river
Got high on top of country club roofs
Tripped in class teachers thought we were drunk
Kissed everyone there at least once

Walking in the river next to you
Exploring old ruins like we used to do
Member when we skated on the Ice?
Yeah so do I wasn't that a great night

Late night rendezvous at the river
He held me close to keep me warm
Once we slept under the starry skies
No care in the world just you and I

Member that time we jumped a train?
That conductor wasn't too pleased
He yelled profanities at you as he passed
And you got up and flicked him off

Wasn't the first nor the last time
Member when we laid in the grass
While you threw rocks at the train?
Then it ricochet and hit you in the face?

My hometown may be a big city now
But I'll always cherish those days
When I Was younger and free to play
In large forests, fields, and rivers
