Chapter three: It's fixed.
Miriam's POV.
I took of the greasy disk that was way to thin.
No wonder that driver had a problem using the breaks.
I sighed when I realized I'd need a new one, which meant changing all of them.
But we only had two that were of the right size.
I walked into the office where Ben was busy showing Tom just about everything.
"Hey boss" I knocked on the door.
They both turned in my direction.
"Done already?"
"No. I need to replace all of the break disks but we only have two that I can use, one of which isn't even brand new."
"Oh." Ben's face fell.
"Well can't you call Charles? Tell him to fabricate a new one?"
I scowled at the mention of Charles.
"No. Plus it would take at least two days. We're gonna have to buy them from the shop up ahead hoping that they have the right size."
"Well go on then!"
"With what money? They need to be bought Ben. And I never bring my wallet out of the house unless I need to for bills and stuff"
"Use the emergency fund"
I nodded my head and left.
Headed to the small box where we set money aside for emergencies.

"It's fixed" I announced as I finished putting the tire back on.
I then made sure there were no grease smudges.
Satisfied, I stood up cleaning my hands clean with a rag.
"I also made sure your tires were in good shape and that nothing was wrong with your engine."
The driver nodded at me "How much?"
"Oh no no no. It's on the house!"
I stared at Ben.
Seriously?
"We insist" said Tom handing Ben a check.
"See ya round Mimi" he said before climbing in the car.
I scowled.
Great.
Now he'll never stop calling me that.
