Miriam's POV.

"Itchi! Ni!"
I had Tom count to two then over again in Japanese as he practiced his hits.
"Alright. Now take a few steps back" I instructed.
Tom did as he was told
"Now we do the greeting, afterwards immediately assume your fighting stance before the fight. Remember to bow after the fight as well or you lose points."

"Hyah!" I swiftly spun Tom over himself in circle, making him land with a thud on the matt.
We were both panting heavily.
For a newbie, he sure was good.
Once he was up we bowed and the fight was over.

"Congratulations Mr Holland. Your training here is complete.
Normally you would have an advancement but unfortunately, you will not be staying. Am I correct Mr Harrison?"

I ignored the two "adults", I mean I'm an adult to but... Yeah.
"So..." Said Tom rubbing the back of his sweaty neck.
"I guess this is goodbye" I tried to finish for him.
"Oh, no. Never that. I... Uh... Was wondering if we could... Keep in touch?"
I stared.
"Uhm... Okay? Sure. Just a sec I'll go get my phone"

As we finished exchanging numbers, Harrison came up to us to drag Tom away who yelled at me over his shoulder:
"You should join next time 'round!"

I didn't get to ask what that meant before I received a glare from Cho and a disapproving look from Tao.

"What?"
"Be careful who you let break down your walls Miriam." He warned before leaving me to walk home alone.
