Interlude
The page opens with a jarring shift—fuchsia-colored margins, bubbly handwritten notes in the corners, and sketches of little doodles: a stick figure of Gwenpool kicking what looks like an unconscious version of the real author, marked with "zzz."
Gwenpool (narration):
"Uh, hi there! Yeah, it's me, Gwen. Gwen Poole. Gwenpool, if you're nasty."
A panel shows Gwen lounging on a beanbag chair, pen in hand, surrounded by crumpled story outlines, sticky notes, and mugs of half-finished coffee. A smaller inset panel zooms in on her proudly holding up an editorial badge she made out of construction paper and glitter.
Gwenpool (narration):
"So, funny story—I accidentally knocked out the writer. Okay, maybe 'accidentally' is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, but c'mon! Someone had to make this interesting again. You were all looking real sad back there, what with the rain, the funeral, the crying. But lucky for you, your girl Gwen is here to lighten things up a bit. Oh, and maybe clear up some stuff."
She tosses the pen over her shoulder, spinning in her beanbag while she holds up a comic book page filled with tiny thumbnail sketches of the story so far. Each sketch is chaotic, with scribbled names and arrows pointing to different sections like "Big Bad!" "Sad Funeral!" and "Plot Mystery Alert."
Gwenpool (narration):
"First things first: yeah, that funeral? Y/N and Max? Super sad. A+ drama. But! And here's the kicker—THEY'RE. NOT. GONE."
A new panel shows Gwen gleefully flipping the comic book she was holding to the very end of the issue, revealing Y/N and Max standing in shadowy silhouettes, ready to make their triumphant return.
Gwenpool (narration):
"Plot twist, baby! You seriously thought the writer was gonna kill off their star players for good? Nah-ah! This is comics, sweetie! No one stays dead except Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, and... ugh, you get it."
Gwen hops out of her beanbag, pointing at a corkboard pinned with red strings and photos of different characters from the story.
Gwenpool (narration):
"Which brings us to Cassandra Nova. Oh, yeah, we're going there. Big bad of Arc One. Scary lady who plays psychic chess while everyone else is eating the pieces. Think some Charles Xavier-level baggage, and then turned all the dials to eleven. She's gonna be chef's kiss TERRIFYING."
A panel shows Gwen holding up a detailed sketch of Cassandra Nova—sinister eyes, a wicked smirk, and a chaotic aura of power surrounding her.
Gwenpool (narration):
"But here's the twisty part—she's not just here to mess with everyone in the 'rah-rah fight the bad guy' kinda way. Oh, no. She's gonna break the fourth wall...like me! Except instead of jokes and fanservice, she's all, 'Let's tear reality apart and rebuild it in my image!' Blah, blah, blah. Classic villain stuff, right?"
A panel shows Gwen flipping through a notebook titled "Things Cassandra Might Say" while sipping a slushie.
Gwenpool (narration):
"Now, before I accidentally spoil everything (oops!), let's circle back to Y/N and Max. They're totally coming back. This isn't one of those depressing existential 'death is final' stories, okay? But the how—oof. That's juicy. No spoilers yet, but let's just say they're about to have a VERY bad time before their grand encore."
Another panel zooms in on Gwen making a dramatic "X" over the word "FINALITY" on a whiteboard, with sticky notes saying "Time loops? Resurrections? Alternate dimensions?"
Gwenpool (narration):
"In summary:
Cassandra Nova's the big bad.
Y/N and Max are getting an extra life (you're welcome).
Oh, and the writer? They'll be back. Eventually. I guess. Once they wake up from their nap. Or... unless I decide to just, ya know, keep writing forever? We'll see how I feel."
A final wide shot shows Gwen sprawled across the unconscious writer, propping her feet up on the outline of a planned chapter.
Gwenpool (narration):
"So sit back, readers. You're in for an absolutely bonkers ride. And don't worry—I totally know what I'm doing...probably!"
The last panel fades to black, with only Gwen's voice lingering:
"To be continued..."
