chapter 1
A/n: there are not a lot of maijade stories out there which makes me sad as a tutoryim fan. Anyway I hope you enjoy this light hearted angsty fic.
TW: this chapter contains self harm
Uea was at Jade's front door. They were going to spend the whole day together. They hadn't gone out on their own for a long time and Uea missed their time hanging out without King or Mai.
So it was Saturday, which was the perfect day to hang out.
Jade opened the door to let Uea in but Jade was not prepared to go anywhere.
"Jade, why aren't you ready?" Uea asked Jade who happened to be wrapped in his blanket.
"Do we really have to go out? Can't we just talk here?" Jade suggested.
"It's been a while since we hung out just the two of us. I already made arrangements. Let's go. Besides we need a break from our boyfriends." Uea said.
Boyfriends—it felt so great for Uea knowing Jade now had someone who loves him and wants to be with him.
"Fine." Jade gave in. He could never win an argument against Uea anyway.
"Then go and get ready. Sakoo will keep me company." Uea said lightly pushing Jade in the direction of his bedroom.
"Sakoo, take care of P'Uea for me okay?" Jade said to the dog lying on Uea's feet.
Sakoo barked in response at his owners request.
Uea shook his head fondly and smiled. "Go on!"
As soon as Jade left, Uea turned to the Jack Russell terrier. He was grown now but it was a small dog so it still looked like a puppy.
"Hmm what should we play while Jade is getting ready?" Uea asked the dog as if he was going to get a response.
Sakoo cocked his head to the side in confusion asif trying to decide.
"Ooh I know. We can play fetch." Uea suggested.
The dog wagged it's tail in agreement after hearing the word 'fetch'.
Uea smiled at the excited canine. No doubt the dog has grown on him. The dog was as lovely as his owner. Sometimes Uea would come visit for the sole purpose of hanging out with the dog.
He loved dogs, he just didn't want one of his own— doesn't want the responsibility of taking care of them.
Sakoo brought his green ball and placed it at Uea's feet.
Uea made sure not to throw the ball too hard or too far so as to not break anything and each time sakoo brought it back.
He threw it again and it landed at the back of the couch opposite to him.
Sakoo couldn't fit so he couldn't get it out.
"Let me help." Uea said as he shifted the sofa forward slightly. He was about to grab the ball but something else grabbed his attention.
A silver substance. Uea was curious so he picked it up. It was a razor with dried blood on it.
Uea had a perfect mixture of fear and confusion wash over him. It couldn't mean what he thought it meant right?
Jade walks into the living with his long sleeve turtleneck top, like he had been wearing for some time now.
Jade stopped dead in his tracks as he noticed what Uea was holding.
"Jade...... What's this?" Uea asked.
Jade couldn't respond. What was he supposed to say?
"Jade!?" Uea said a bit louder making Jade flinch a little in his place.
He hated when Uea got like that. He felt like he was being scolded by his mother.
"Let me see your arm, Jade." Uea demanded.
"Wha...that's not.... there's no..." Jade couldn't make any sentence.
Uea had already his way to Jade and grabbing his arm. Jade didn't dare to move.
Uea pulled back Jade's sleeve. His cloth was elastic so he had no problem pulling back his sleeve.
The sight Uea saw made him almost hurl, the sight of cuts scattered across Jade's arm were sickening.
Uea pulled the sleeve of the other arm and it was looking no different.
Uea struggled to breath, he couldn't believe that was happening.
"How long has it been?" Uea asked.
"I—"
"How long!?" Uea asked again.
"About two weeks." Jade said lowly hanging his head as low as his voice.
Uea couldn't believe it. It was happening for two weeks and he has no idea. Uea closed his eyes tightly to stop the tears from escaping his eyes.
"I-I gotta call King and Mai—"
"No!" Jade screamed.
"What?"
"Please don't tell Mai." Jade said.
"Jade-" Uea tried reasoning with Jade.
"Please Uea, I can't, he can't know about this." Jade said.
Uea decided to drop it for the time being. "Fine but I'm still calling King."
Chances were King was going to call Mai once he arrived so he didn't bother trying to change Jade's mind.
Jade didn't want it but as long as it wasn't Mai, then there was no problem.
Uea left Jade and moved closer to the door to make the phone call.
King answered almost immediately.
"Huh? I thought you were going to hang out with Jade. Don't tell me you miss me already." King teased.
"King—" Uea's voice broke portraying his emotion and King noticed it immediately.
"Tirak, what's wrong are you okay?" King asked.
"It's Jade."
"What happened to Jade? Are the two of you alright?" King asked.
"Jade has been hurting himself." Uea felt like he was going to cry again.
"What!?" King exclaimed.
"He's been cutting himself and..and it's been going on for a while and I..I can't believe I didn't even notice. I—" Uea's voice kept breaking.
"Hold on tirak, I will be there soon." King said and ended the call.
Uea was glad King was on his way. King would give him the emotional support he needed.
He turned and faced Jade who was petting sakoo as a way of comforting himself.
"Jade, where's your first aid box?" Uea asked.
"On top the cupboard." Jade said.
Uea took the first aid box and placed it on the dining table.
"Take off your top and come here." Uea commanded.
Jade did as he was told.
It was more sickening seeing it on full. Jade's entire body was adorned with cuts.
Uea tried his best not to grimace or cry and Jade didn't dare to look Uea in the eye.
Uea tended to each of the cuts resisting the temptation of counting them.
"Jade?"
"Hm?"
"Have you......have you had any extreme thoughts lately?" Uea asked.
Jade shook his head slowly.
Uea breathed out in relief.
As he kept tending to the wounds, old and new ones alike, the question 'why' kept ringing in his brain.
Jade was finally happy. He knew that so why? What happened and how hadn't he noticed anything?
"I hope none of these scar." Uea muttered absentmindedly.
It would be an absolute miracle if none of the wounds scar.
Uea put bandaids on as many as he could but there wasn't enough bandaids to go around but he made due.
"Why didn't I notice it?" Uea asked himself out loud.
"It wasn't your fault. I was really good at hiding it." Jade defends him.
"Still I should have known. I should have paid attention. I can't believe that I didn't notice anything for two weeks." Uea said.
He was upset with himself. He was observant, always the first to know when something is wrong but since Jade started dating Mai, it was like he stopped paying much attention to Jade.
As if Jade was a problem he passed on to the nearest person who was willing to take it. He admitted that as soon as Jade started dating Mai, he hadn't paid much attention to Jade afterwards. Uea hated it so much.
Uea was upset with himself, what kind of friend was he? He didn't even know that his best friend was going through such a horrible situation.
"Uea—"
The doorbell rang cutting Jade off.
"That should be King. Put your clothe back on, I'll get the door." Uea said.
Uea opened the door for King to get in.
"Are you okay?" King asked.
Uea weekly shook his head. There was no point in lying.
King entered the apartment and Jade was still in the dining.
King was about to shout at Jade when Uea stopped him.
"Now that King is here, you can start explaining yourself Jade." Uea said in a serious tone that made Jade feel like he was in the principal's office
