The downpour in Po Town eventually put out the raging flames. Every building, except for the Pokémon centre, had burned to the ground. Ash and rubble in it's wake. I mean, I still can't travel around Alola again, but I can at least walk around what used to be known as Po Town. It's much better than being in that house of mistakes. I can't even remember how the fire started, it was just...a blurry rage. Not that it matters anyway, no one is going to care. Guzma left months ago, so he clearly won't miss this place.
Banette tugged on my arm, grabbing my attention. "What is it, bud? Getting cold? Just go down to the centre, I'll be here..." My trusty Pokémon gave me a sad look, but obeyed anyway, making it's way down to the rundown excuse for a Pokémon hospital. I slowly sat up, rain running down my face. As much as I hated to admit it... I still thought Guzma was going to come back for me. It was this sliver of hope that told me we would meet again, that he's going to come back, that he's going to sweep me off my feet and we're going to be together forever. But....dreams don't come true and life lets you down.
"What the hell happened here?" Someone spoke in the distance. "Welcome to the miserable excuse some call Po Town. Population: one depressed ghost and her Pokémon." I spat. I couldn't care less at this point, it's not like anyone's going to actually want to stay here. "(Y/n)? What's goin' on?" I slowly made eye contact with the source of the voice.
Shaggy white hair.
Baggy clothes.
Eyes that could kill.
It was him.
"Nice to see you finally returned, huh?" I stomped over to him to the best of my ability, considering I was, you know, a ghost. "Hope you like what I've done with the place. Nice, eh?" If looks could kill, he'd be long gone by now. I phased through him forcefully, knocking him to the ground. Puddles splashed around him, and rain soaked his skin. "Do you know how long it's been?! Months!" Guzma looked up at me, and I could see the regret in his eyes. "Love look, I'm sorry I just, I can explain!" He got back up and tried to grab my shoulders, but I shook them off. "I never meant to hurt ya. I just...somethin' happened..." He looked right into my eyes, but I was so pale, it's basically looked right through me. "Don't you 'I'm sorry' me! I'm fucking dead and you were the one person I could trust. And you just, dumped me, and left me here to rot!" I turned around and left, ignoring his pleas. I just made my way to the Pokémon Centre.
I couldn't tell if it were just a few days, or a few weeks. but word of Team Skull disbanding spread fast. After I saw Guzma, he came back, probably to check out the damage of the fire. I didn't realize it before, but I soon noticed that he had a different...look. His glasses were now symmetrical, his chain necklace was gone, he didn't have his tattoos anymore and there was a big red 'X' on his back, covering the old logo. I guess that's how he looks now that Team Skull is gone.
It never really stopped raining here. Thunder boomed and lightning illuminated the town. It was quite beautiful once you really looked at it.
It was a plain night, Banette and I sat in the Pokémon Centre. Water leaked from the ceiling, and wild Rattata scurried across my feet. It really got boring, living here. Alone. Without Guzma.
As much as I hate him for leaving me...I wish he came back. I missed his dumb face, with his gross, tangled hair and his cloudy, but stunning eyes. I missed his dumb jokes, and how he sometimes snorted when he laughed. I missed his dumb hugs and how warm and alive he made me feel.
I missed him.
But nothing could bring him back to me. He was probably long gone, off to Kanto or something. Making sure he forgot about me.
The town was lit up as I looked out the window. A strange, wet figure walked by. "Some dumb tourist," I glanced at Banette. "looking for me I bet." I've had enough of some idiotic kids walking into this town, only to taunt me and make me even angrier. "Stay here." I growled, walking outside in the storm. I saw the shadow walking towards the rubble of a burnt house. As they got closer, lightning struck a tree. The sound of creaking wood echoed through the ghost town.
"Shit!"
The stranger yelled, for the tree had fallen on them, impaling their leg. "Please," They yelled. "(Y/n)! Help me!" As lighting lit up the town once more, I finally got a look at the strangers face.
It was Guzma.
"Oh shit..." I ran, or more floated, towards him as fast as I could. But soon, the tree erupted into flames, engulfing him. I couldn't save him.
As fast as the fire had started, it went out. The rain soaked into the fallen tree and Guzma's charred remains.
I held him in my arms. My cold, pale, arms. There was no longer the warmth that used to be there. He was as cold and dead as I was.
"Oh my fuck...." I couldn't see right, my tears mixed with the rain. "I'm so sorry..." Hugging his body close to mine, I sobbed into his lifeless chest. "I love you... I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I was so mean to you after you left, I should have just heard your reasoning. I'm sorry that I was so angry. I just didn't want to get hurt again. I love you so much, Guzma and I'm so sorry I couldn't save you."
"Save me from what?"
My head shot up and whipped around to the source of that voice.
"Why ya so sad? I'm literally right here."
Right before me was a very pale, very confused Guzma. "I don't see the...big...deal..." His eyes trailed from me to his corpse. "That's me...I'm..." He looked down at his, almost transparent, hands. "I'm dead..." I made my way over to him, taking his hands in mine. The best way to handle someone who just died, and is now a vengeful spirit is to calm them down to the best of your ability. "It's okay, Guz." I softly smiled at him, leaning forward and kissing his cheek. "You're here with me now. We may be trapped here for all of eternity, but at least we're together." He looked into my eyes, smiling wider than I've ever seen before. He was pretty happy for a dead man. "Holy shit! I'm dead! But I'm with ya! We're ghosts!" I giggled at him. This is going to take some getting used to. Pulling him towards the Pokémon Centre, he rambled on about how cool this was, and how we're going to to be here forever. Silence suddenly filled the air before Guzma spoke up again. "I'm sorry I left ya all alone for so long. Especially after I promised..." He stopped walking, looking to the ground with a frown. "Hey Guz, look at me." I lifted his chin up, forcing him to look right into my eyes. "It's alright." Leaning forward, I kissed his cold lips gentility, telling him that he is forgiven. He pulled away, smiling slightly. Pulling him closer, I whispered gently into the crook of his neck.
"You're here now."
