Delay of Game by AmberLynn00
Found a wonderful, mostly drama-free romance that hits all the right spots. A romance story with so little drama is hard to find, but sometimes utterly necessary in a world where drama reigns supreme! And my horrifying luck shined through because all the while—when I was reading it—my internet services went off because I'm broke af, so I had to wait, but you know how cable services send 'minor' interruptions all the time? Well, yeah. That too! My computer and my luck saw some choice curse words!
Anyhow, Jason and Hope are two very different people who just happen to come across each other at a bar that Hope works at. Now that I think about it, it had to have been fate for these two because Hope just doesn't seem like someone that would be a bartender in the first place. After a situation that 'caused Jason to be heart broken he ended up spending a year (on and off) drinking at this bar until finally Hope got up the courage to ask him what was going on. It pretty much started from there. It happened pretty fast, and Hope shows worry about this often, but Jason (surprisingly given his history) remains steadfast when he makes his decisions. First it was friends, then friends with benefits, then a relationship... it was like once he'd thought about it, it just fit and he never wavered on his decision, not even when his ex-wife (who he'd been high school sweethearts with—that's a lot of history) tried getting him back. There was no hesitation, and that, my people, is an awesome hero for any story! Sometimes, you just know. Sometimes, you just need sweet and sure in a romance novel. This is definitely worth the read!
Jason Miller's life has been tilted on its axis, and then kicked to the curb for good measure. To say things haven't gone his way would be an understatement, but eventually something has to work out for him. That's what he's hoping when he gives a cute bartender his number. He isn't looking for more than someone outside of his teammates to spend some time with, but Hope may give him a little more than he's expecting. [Completed]
