WHILE DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS, TAUGHT BY PROFESSOR LUPIN HAD QUICKLY BECOME EVERYONE ELSE'S FAVOURITE CLASS, ANEX HAD FELT SLIGHTLY BITTER TOWARDS IT EVER SINCE HER FIRST DAY.The Boggart he had brought into class had been an absolute nightmare and Anex found herself having to dance around the entire class so that she wouldn't have to face the thing that showed you your worse fear. But unfortunately, Professor Lupin had, in the end, spotted her and had forced her in front of the creature that quickly turned from the wailing Banshee that Pansy Parkinson had turned into and contorted into the cloaked figure of a Dementor. It had been an ultimate struggle to not yell out Expecto Patronum but instead Riddikulous as they had been instructed.
She attempted to forget about the Boggart and focus on the numerous amount of rare and dark creatures he brought into class that were all right off of the pages of the MAGICAL CREATURES; THE RARE, THE DARK AND THE DANGEROUS. But she simply couldn't and found herself dreading each class. Professor Lupin had also seemed to take a keen interest in her fear as if it was somehow relevant to anything. Actually, Professor Lupin seemed to just take an interest in her in general and had looked slightly astounded when she responded to the last name 'Silvertongue' in their first class together.
But it was now October, which meant that the Quidditch season was on its way as was the third years first trip to Hogsmeade. Anticipation was at an all time high and shopping trips and sporting practice were the main focus of every dinner conversation between the people who sat around Titus and Anex. Titus was even showing mild signs of excitement at the prospect of going to Hogsmeade as he wanted to purchase some sweets from the shop 'Honeydukes' to sedate his surprisingly large sweet tooth.
On Halloween morning, Anex was not awoken to sound of Leer's snoring but instead the annoyingly high-pitched chatter of three girls. Pansy had somehow made her way into their dorm rooms and Leer and Willow were chatting with her loudly as they got ready.
"Would you prats be quiet?" Anex snarled while slamming a pillow over her head but that did nothing to smother out the sound of girly giggles.
"Oh don't be such a sour puss Annie," Willow giggled, using the god awful nickname that she and Leer had decided to call Anex since their first year. "It's our first trip to Hogsmeade; aren't you excited?"
Anex then pulled herself up from her bed, hair ruffled and expression blunt as she stared at them before giving them a sickeningly fake smile. "I'm just bursting with excitement."
They seemed to miss the sarcasm as they squealed and rushed out of the dorm room. Anex huffed in frustration as she got up from her bed and proceeded to get ready. She stripped her nightgown off and replaced it with her underclothes before grabbing one of the many ruffled, black blouses that hung in her closet and paired in with a floor length dark green, embellished brocade skirt. Deltris had this superiority complex where she liked to exploit and show off her inherited wealth in the only way she could; Anex. Whether it meant decadent gowns or twisted hair pieces of silver and gold, Anex was forced to play a porcelain doll every time she got dressed for any day that wasn't a school day.
She grabbed a black, rose embroidered cape that was for when she ventured into the cold, snow-swept outdoors and made her way out of the Dungeons and to the Great Hall.
When she arrived at the Great Hall, Anex was taken aback by what she saw. Neville Longbottom was over at the Slytherin table, talking to Titus.
"Well you see, I'm not very good at potions-"
"-That's a given." Titus cut in as Anex took her seat near him.
Neville's cheeks flushed but he continued, "But you are. And you saved Trevor even though you didn't need to, which I could never have done. So, you see, what I'm trying to say is-"
"Well just spit it out Longbottom," Titus snarked and Anex had to roll her eyes.
"Maybe if you stopped cutting him off he'd be able to," Anex stated while lightly shoving Titus in the shoulder, "Go on."
Neville let out a breath before rushing out all at once. "Iwaswonderingifyouwouldtutormeinpoitions."
Anex blinked, not catching a single word but 'I' and 'potions,' but Titus seemed to catch everything and his lips twitched up into a smirk. "You want me, to tutor you, in potions?" Neville nodded frantically. "No."
"Titus," Anex gasped, slapping him on his shoulder. "That's rude, you should have said 'sorry, but no.' Where are your manners?"
He only briefly flinched before turning back to Neville, "You see Longbottom, I can't as I'm already tutoring this one over here."
Anex barked a laugh, "Ha, yeah right. I asked you to help me in first year and you said no. The only time I get anything is when you get especially excited and just can't keep it anymore."
"Whatever the case," Titus waved off, "I can't, won't actually. I saved Trevor because I didn't really want to smell a dead toad that day and that was it."
Neville's head drooped. "Okay, sorry for asking," and then quickly spluttered an inaudible goodbye before he hurried off
Anex slapped Titus on the arm again causing him to cry out, "You really are horrible, did you know that?"
"Oh come on," He rolled his eyes while rubbing his arm and wincing slightly. "Like there was even the smallest chance that either of us would ever say yes to tutoring someone. We're much too selfish."
"True," She agreed with a shrug as she grabbed a canister of coffee. "But you could have still been nicer."
"How?"
She took a minute to ponder it, tapping a finger against her chin. "Actually; I don't know."
Hogsmeade wasn't even worth half of the hype that had been made around its existence. The sweets at Honeydukes held no flavour for Anex who liked everything she ate to either be bitter or savoury, aside from strawberry jam of course, and the snow had been a hassle all by itself. Titus, on the other hand, had had a marvellous time dragging Anex from each side of the sweet shop as he bought just about everything in sight so that just to get everything back, he had to beg Anex to allow him to fill her pockets as well. She had very begrudgingly agreed but had almost hexed him when they returned and one of the chocolate frogs had melted in the pocket of her cloak despite the cold.
All there was left to the day was the annual Halloween feast. Anex's gracefully glided into the Great Hall which was brightly decorated for the occasion and dug into the delicious savoury food that littered the tables, instantly cleansing her plate of the many sweets Titus had forced her to try. Titus himself was buzzing in his seat, riding out a very long sugar high and now Anex knew why he didn't drink coffee because he would actually explode.
"Isn't this all so delicious Annie? Gosh, I'm just so excited." He babbled while scooping a fork full of mash potatoes in his mouth.
"Good god Titus! Annie? You're worse then Leer and Willow." Anex scoffed before putting a spoon of peas into her mouth, she chewed them vigorously as she glared at the spring bunny to her left. "I am never allowing you to have sugar ever again."
Titus simply giggled and took a sip of pumpkin juice.
The feast finished and all of the houses vacated to their sides of the castle in a rather lethargic manner as just about everyone had stuffed themselves with too much food; including Anex who found her usually loping, long strides were more difficult to complete tonight with a stomach full of mashed potatoes and peas.
"You're not going to be able to sleep for hours," Anex pointed out as Titus continued to buzz up and down as they reached the Common Room. "I feel sorry for your roommates."
"They're sound sleepers, Zabini can sleep through anything," Titus stated just as they began to scale the steps that lead down to their dorms.
"Well good night then Elderon, have fun crashing in a few hours." She waved before they parted ways and went to their separate dorms.
Leer and Willow had stayed back in the Common Room to talk to Pansy and what not so Anex had the room to herself as she began to disrobe and get ready to take a bath. She had just finished wrapping a towel around herself and was about to go to the bathroom when her roommates burst into the room.
"Sirius Black was in the castle," Leer panted, eyes wide as she attempted to catch her breath. "Apparently he tried to get into the Gryffindor Common Room and ripped their portrait when it wouldn't let him in."
"All students are now to sleep in the Great Hall," Willow elaborated as she began to change into her pyjamas.
Anex cursed under her breath, "Dammit Potter. Always causing bloody trouble."
