I wake up to harsh blinding lights which causes me to bury my face deeper into someone's side. I open my eyes once again, to be greeted with Augustus's face.

The memory of last night washes over me, making me blush in embarrassment. That was the night I lost my virginity and I'm glad I will not die a virgin. Augustus was so gentle and patient with me, asking me over and over again if I wanted to stop.

My appearance has changed back to normal last night as well. Now I have my long black hair back instead of the short badass look.

I turn to lie on my belly, seeing his face. He looks like he is glowing.

"You're so beautiful," he murmurs, touching my face.

I rest my face on his chest. He hugs me tightly.

"I love you," I say.

I feel him kiss my hair. "I love you too."

We lie there in silence, enjoying the moment. It's just Melanie and Augustus. We complete each other like how a violin needs a bow to create music.

He's mine as I am his.

Never in my life have I ever thought that I would fall in love with one of the most hotheaded guy in my life. He's my everything. I need Augustus like I need air.

Nate and Gwen. I wonder if that's how Nate feels with Gwen. They are soul mates so they are each other's anchor for living.

Lisbeth and Caleb. They're not mates, but I can see genuine love radiating off them. Caleb would do anything for Lisbeth, even if she wasn't Athena's daughter. He won't let any harm come to her, including from himself.

Emma and Antoine. I did not spend much time with them, yet I know they're going to be okay. Antoine is going to be a great father and Alpha.

Rick and Cassie. I know Rick will die saving children as he will be a fireman. I told Nate this and I make him promise not to say a word. Everything happens for a reason. Cassie will have a hard time getting over her mate's death, but Nate's children will help her.

Wally and Celine. Even if they're humans, I know they are perfect for each other.

"What are you thinking so hard about, newbie?" Augustus asks, playing with my hair.

"Everything. Nothing."

He chuckles and rolls us over, causing me to squeak in surprise. 

"What do you mean by that?" he asks softly.

"I was thinking about life. Our lives. Other people's lives," I confess.

"My life is nothing without you," Augustus says seriously. "The first time I met you, I knew you were the one. You draw my attention even if you weren't realizing of it."

"I thought I hated you then. Because you were so mean to me. I thought you wanted the Director position that Thomas offered me."

"I was planning to take over and be Director actually. When Bibiana told me to stay away from Thomas, I knew it was something bigger. I apologize if I was an idiotic arrogant asshole."

A genuine smile appears on my face. "Apology accepted, Evolved Lizard."

Augustus rolls his eyes at his nickname. "What time is it?"

I look at the clock on my bedside to see the time. "Almost ten."

He groans and pulls me to him. "Too early to get up."

I laugh and poke his cheek. "We get to spend more daylight if we get up now."

Augustus sighs grumpily. "What about we just stay in bed and make love all day?"

Once again, I blush. Without saying a word to him, I got up from bed and making sure that the sheets covers my vital parts. Augustus stares at me when I pick up my clothes that are laying abandoned on the floor.

"Can I join you for that bath?" Augustus asks me when I step onto the wet tiles of my bathroom.

I turn to stick my tongue out at him. "Idiot."

"I'm your idiot, my beautiful serpent. "

Once again the blush returns. "Shut up, Evolved Lizard."

His musical laughter fills my ears even after I close the door. The warm water of the bath takes me to a different world. I use the time to think.

I basically broke my own rule last night. It makes me feel guilty that it will be my fault that he'll be depressed when I die, even while being dead. I'm a selfish person for doing this to him.

The worst thing is that I want to be selfish. I want Augustus to miss me when I die. I want to make love with him over and over again like last night.

Yet again, it's unfair to him. He doesn't know of my fate. No one does except for the Oracle, Athena and Nate.

Oh, Nate. I'm so glad he knows that I'm alive. I'm so glad he knows what is going on. At least when the war starts, Nate and the werewolves won't be near us. They will not be harmed as they are innocent. I have to make sure that we win this war so no one will die in the hands of demons or vampires or sirens.

The only problem now is which side does the humans pick. My father has gone to Gurney City to discuss about the issue with President Philip. He will tell the President the truth and hopefully, he'll consider joining our side.

Sure, humans are weak but they are brilliant. Their technology are advanced and I am confident that machines can help us win this war.

After almost half an hour of sitting in the bath tub, I finally rinse and dry myself with a towel. By the time I get out of the bathroom, I see Augustus in nothing but pants.

The sight of his abs almost makes me drool. I have to restraint myself from going over to him and kiss him until we both end up on bed again.

Augustus's eyes darken when his eyes wander down my body which is still concealed by the towel. He growls softly while walking over to me. "You're so perfect."

"You're not so bad yourself," I remark.

Augustus chuckles and pecks my lips. "I have to go visit Aurora."

"Can I come with you?" I ask, biting my lips. I haven't seen Aurora for a long time. I'm aware that she is heavily pregnant now. The education in the HQ building does not go wasted because I know almost everything about supernatural creatures out there. Mermaids, for instance, get pregnant for three to seven days before they lay an egg.

Yes, egg. They're kind of half human and half fish so... it's complicated to understand. The egg is usually taken care by the father for a few weeks before it hatches. This is one reason why Augustus is pissed at whoever got Aurora pregnant and then ditched her. She will have to take care of the egg all by herself.

Augustus hesitates before answering, "Okay."

I burst out laughing when I remember something. Augustus frowns in confusion.

"Remember when we used the cheesy The Fault in Our Stars character's name to describe how we're feeling?"

Augustus sulks. "Is this about the 'Okay? Okay' shit?"

I laugh again. "Get out so I can put on some clothes."

He compiles by walking out of my room while putting on a shirt. I wear a simple t-shirt and a pair of jeans before I leave my room. Mum is in the living room, watching TV with a cup of coffee in her hands.

"Good morning," I greet her.

Mum turns to look at me, careful so her shades won't fall off. "Melanie! Your father is on TV!"

"What?!" I say in shock, joining her by sitting on the sofa. She's right because my father, Nicholas Meridian, in on national news with President Philip sitting next to him.

"My name is Nicholas Meridian and I am the Director of Hunter Headquarters. I'm pretty sure everyone is aware of the existence of demon since last week. My people and I are going to war against the rebels, which consists of not only demons but also vampires, sirens, rogue werewolves and a few more supernatural creatures," dad says.

Many of the reporters start to scream out their questions at him. President Philip raises a hand and then pointing at a woman with a microphone in her hands.

"Director Meridian, sir, why are they rebels?" the woman asks.

"They desire to have war with the Gods if they win against us. To date, we are uncertain what they want from the Gods."

"Director is on TV?" Augustus asks from behind me.

Mum jumps in surprise. "Augustus! Don't scare me like that!"

He merely smiles back sheepishly. "Sorry, Mrs. Meridian. I'm going to take Mel out to visit Aurora."

"Have fun, kids! Oh, and you two are so lucky Nicholas is in Gurney City or you would have gotten a lecture about not breaking our daughter's heart and ..."

"Mum!" I chide.

"What? By the way, did you two use protection last night?"

I swear I can die of embarrassment here and now. Only my mother would do this kind of things to me.

"I think it is time to go now!" I say, quickly dragging Augustus out of the mansion.

"If you didn't, can we name the baby Melinda if it's a girl?" mum asks loudly.

Augustus chuckles while my cheeks redden for the third time this morning. "You know, I like the name Melinda. It sounds close to your name."

My cheeks get even hotter.

"Or maybe Melissa? Hmm... What about – "

"Augustus," I warn. "Stop talking about baby names or I will force you to sit behind me on my Harley Davidson."

That shut him up.
