Guns for Roses

Oneshot.

GUNS. FOR. ROSES.

I breathed deeply, sweat running down my forehead tickling my face as it slipped down. Calming the erratic beating of my heart as it pumped loud enough, to get me caught.

And at this situation, getting caught was something I wasn't looking forth to. The silence pierced my ears, as my eyes now adapted to the dark looked around to find the source of the voice.

Soon enough the voice got clearer, the footsteps were getting closer and so was my target. The plastic drums in this secluded outhouse helped hiding my tall figure.

The sound got clearer and I knew the target was approaching. Fast enough. Counting down to three, I peeked trying to catch the glimpse of the rustic man.

Talking to his man, he was engrossed and didn't notice me. My hands reached near my spine where my revolver was tucked in my high wasted jeans.

Aiming at the man instead of target, I shot the bullet which piercing right through his chest.

Within a second, the man was on the floor with a pool of blood.

Dead.

The bullet had alerted the target who removed his own gun. Knowing all his gang members weren't here and only we both living souls were present.

Only that I had the advantage. I knew where he was but he didn't know where I was.

"Come out," he shouted.

I smirked to myself, 'happily'

I aimed the gun at his hand which held the gun, and shot the bullet.

"Aah," the gun dropped while his hand now bled. Crying to himself, he sat on the ground withering in pain.

Knowing he was helpless, I got up from my hiding space and moved towards him. His eyes now glazing mine. A sick smile displaying on my face.

I quickly kicked his gun away, and pointed the gun for the last time, at his forehead.

"Tsk tsk, Gomez? What do I see now, an old man crying helplessly." I spatted.

"H-how did you find me?"

"Easy task. Abducted one of your men, made him bring me here. Also he is dead too, so I helped you clear off the traitor. Relax. One shot and you'll be relieved."

A dark chuckle left his face as his eyes left mine.

"I deserve this don't I? Should have killed you as well that day. But good times." The man uttered shamelessly.

"To the good times you had and to the worst time of my life," and with that the last bullet of the day was fired taking him to death.

Good times bloody hell, this ruthless man didn't deserve such an easy death, I should have tortured him, the same way he tortured those young girls.

What did he say, he regrets not killing me that day? I say I feel dreadful of not murdering him the day I managed to save the victims.

Never late than never it is said.

"Well done, Officer Ragini. You didn't fail us this time as well. Finally that bag of disgust is dead." The head of our team congratulated me on my accomplishment.

"No worries sir."

"Ragini, I know you have been on duty since the last three weeks and you deserve a break. But, I have a new case, and I want you to handle it. You can take a long leave after that case."

"On duty sir,"

"An under ground gang has been smuggling weapons recently to the white world, and their location has been traced. The CBI was asked to look into this matter, and I sent two of my best officer's name for it."

"Deaths—"

"Allowed, but no one innocent."

"I appreciate that sir, also two?"

"Two?"

"You said two officers? Why can't I take care of this matter on my own?"

"I have no doubts on your capability but its supposed to be a team mission. Also, I can't afford sending a ten members team as it would just make the matters worse."

"Whose the second?"

"You know him,"

•••••••

I hit the punching bag hard, as I take my position for another blow. I was almost bathed in sweat, thank god for the sports bra and the track pant I wore or else my shirt would have been completely drenched by now.

My gloves cladded hands hit the red punching bag once again, as I finally rip them away from my hands and dumb them near my tote gym bag.

I wasn't in the gym but in my own personal cabin, which I had solely designed myself.

The desk was pushed to a corner while the rest of the room was decorated with gym and exercise equipments and also not forgetting the mini stocked fridge I kept there to fulfil my needs.

I walked to the fridge, opening it. I stared at the drinks options I had kept for myself.

Coffee, milkshake, apple juice, soft drinks also a tiny beer can which was hidden away. My mom often checked the stuff I put here.

Taking a can of coke for my self I shut the fridge and walked back to the comfy sofa which also graced my cabin.

The sofa wasn't just a sofa, it had some very important belongings. A locker lied beneath it, which had all my weapons and also my Id.

I moaned as the first sip of the cold liquid entered my mouth, and before I could gulp the whole can my cabin's door slammed open.

"Why didn't you refuse?"

"You can too,"

"But you could have!"

"Sir, refused I did ask."

"He really did?"

"No lies,"

"So when are we leaving hot shot?"

"Get the fuck out of my cabin!"

••••••

Laksh Mehra, my batch mate, my co team member and now my partner for this mission. We have known each other since a long time and so we have hated each other for long long time too.

Our friendship *enemy* increased when our bestfriends decided to fall into a stupid feeling called love. And so their love ruined our life.

Every other function, I had to see his face. Terrifying.

If that wasn't enough he also followed me to CBI where I was appointed first.

Okay, thats what I was told.

My father, was a police commissioner, who died in a shoot out. He died protecting commoners in the slums. So even while telling about his death, I feel proud. He is my inspiration and after his death I decided I will walk on his path and make my own name.

But then as lightening strikes marking the start of rains similarly Laksh Mehra popped up in his white shirt and blue jeans on our first day at CBI. I still clearly remember how he was scolded for his informal behaviour but then that was a day and today's day. Laksh has made his place in the top CBI officials, leaving behind so many. Also the humorous part he is famous amongst the juniors for his strict personality and punctuality.

Hahaha

"Officer Laksh and Officer Ragini you are called in," we heard Simran calling us.

I got up from the steel bench and moved towards the director's cabin.

"So I hope you both are prepared and ready?"

"We are indeed sir," Laksh replied on my behalf.

"Ragini and Laksh, I trust you both completely and know that you won't let those criminals run away easily. Catch them and finish them. And luck's on our favour, their last location was at their hiding spot and we already have he address. Mind you both, they are really dangerous and wouldn't even think before they empty their bullets in your heart. You both are going as a team and therefore you need to protect each other too. I hope I am clear,"

"Yes Sir." Laksh and I saluted.

Leaving the cabin, I noticed him flaunt a small smile.

"So,"

"So?"

"Ragini, who do you feel sharing a team with me?" he boasted.

"Have you ever felt being inside a microwave?"

"No-?"

"I feel the same way, tortured."

"Na na na, you mean you are sweating cause the heat around you is damn high. Thank you for indirectly calling me hot. Appreciate." he winked. The audacity this man has.

"Excuse me, Mr. Self obsessed creature if you have complimented yourself enough shall we proceed towards the place?"

"I have no clue how they call you serious." I muttered under my breath.

"Because, this side of mine is known to only a few." I heard him answer too quick.

Naturally, my eyes met his in confusion while his eyes maintained the contact.

"I think— we should leave." I say breaking the trance as I enter the black polished sedan infront of me.

It was his car, and so he had already made it clear that he would be the one driving us.

"You know its still weird."

"We should leave."

We past the dense green trees and obviously the traffic jammed roads and soon the city lights started to dim giving way to dark deep forest area.

We were almost there, an abandoned construction site where not even a human soul was visible.

The place was famous for its bad luck. When the construction work was going on, three deaths took place in this very place. After that this place was termed inauspicious and people rallied after the builder for their refunds.

The builder committed suicide from this very half constructed building and died on spot.

So overall you get the gist.

"Ragini, you are well armed right?" Laksh whispered beside me as we entered the cemented building.

Dust, broken bricks, tiles lied all over the floor. The white wood dust and cuttings decorated the place.

The wonderful aroma of wood hit my nostrils and evoked the sneezing sensation. Seeing me going to sneeze Laksh's hand covered my mouth tightly which stopped my from sneezing and also from getting busted.

"Careful." I only nodded back. My hand unconsciously touched the hidden gun in my jeans.

We tried to decipher any kind of sound, but failed to do so. We moved a little further from our position, making an empty bisleri plastic bottle squeeze creating a loud sound.

Our eyes widened at our carelessness, and looked around for a place to hide.

Hearing the sound there was no doubt that the members of the gang would be alerted. It was a very wrong move on our part.

"Shit," he cursed as his fingers ran through his messy hair.

There was no hiding spot in the whole place, only an open deserted building.

Like a rat finds its cheese, we heard footsteps from the stairs, which also revealed the hiding spot of those dumb gang members.

My panicked eyes met Laksh who had closed his eyes, maybe trying to analyse the whole situation and the consequences.

"Is any one there?" We heard a deep voice and before I could comprehend what was happening, I felt my wrist being grabbed and I was pushed against the wall.

A scream threatened to escape my lips which was awfully silenced by the pair of lips that captured mine roughly. My eyes popped out of their sockets as I concluded it was Laksh with his eyes shut who was moving his lips against mine.

It was too quick, when the warmth left me but his hot breath still fanned me.

"Follow," he whispered as lowly as he could and with that his lips were back on mine. As his one hand snaked around my waist pushing me even more to the wall as his body crushed mine on top. My eyes, were now shut, and lips moving against his slowly but roughly.

My hands unconsciously made their way to his hair raking them messier than before. His hold tightened even more.

"Sir, see." I heard a faint voice and noticing a sudden change in our exchange, Laksh was listening to them too.

"Today's generation, shameless." Another voice spoke as we heard the footsteps going away.

As soon as the place was now again clear, Laksh's lips left mine as we breathed deeply trying to catch our breathes. His warm and big hand left my waist while I withdrew my hand back too.

"Next time— give warning." I managed to completed.

"You want a next time too?" he replied with a hige ass smirk gracing his dark pink lips.

"You know what I meant," glaring at him I replied.

"Perfectly."

"Now sir, if you don't mind can we focus on work?"

"Lets go and kick some —donkeys."

We distanced ourselves and started moving towards the stairs. Slowly we climbed down each sand made steps and reached a big underground room.

The smell of alcohol and tobbaco filling the entire room. We moved forward looking around, the space was empty.

It wasn't possible they were just here. As we looked around I noticed thousands of different weapons stacked carefully.

Guns, rifles, sharp knives, even metal arrows were placed carefully.

They were just here, I thought when I felt something being placed next to my head.

"You think you are smart? You thought fooling us would be this easy?" The same deep voice said.

"Leave her," Laksh's voice echoed in the empty room.

I had my back facing towards the man and I had no idea how many of them were present. Till now I was sure there were two or three men atleast. One who had held me at gun point and one or two more who held Laksh.

My mind started evaluating the options I had.

If I don't turn around, they would soon escape hitting me and Laksh atleast a bullet. And if I did manage to turn around and remove my secret gun and shot right within time, I can save Laksh and kill the gang.

I knew what I had to do, using my head as my weapon I hit the man with full force on his face and turned around.

My blow injured him pretty badly as he dropped his gun and held his now broken nose.

I quickly removed my gun and shot the man dead.

When I raised my eyes, I saw Laksh taking the situation to his benefit as he hit the man holding him at the gun point and shooting him on his leg.

Our eyes met, as we took deep breathes. We know we weren't alone and there were more members hidden.

I started moving towards him when I saw a feet sticking out of the bunch of boxes kept. I pointed at the feet telling Laksh.

He quickly started moving to the man. Before I could follow him I felt a sharp tug and was pulled back by my hair.

The hair tied in the bun now flowed till my waist.

I cried loudly as the man ruthlessly pulled it even more.

"Girl, you think you can defeat us?" A dark chuckle echoed and something had never angered me more. Ignoring the pain, I jumped lifting my leg and kicking the bast*rd.

"Never. Challenge. A. Woman." I repeated as I emptied another bullet on him.

By the time I fought that man, Laksh was engaged in a combat battle with the man who wanted to play hide and seek.

Laksh's gun had fallen down and it was his arms and legs protecting him now. I raised my gun to shoot at the man, but due to the constant movement the target kept on changing its place.

The man still had a gun and was almost ready to shoot Laksh.

"Atleast one of you is going dead. I made this gang so powerful yet these useless idiots managed to get themselves killed. I know I'll die too but not before I harm atleast one of you." The gang leader announced and soon later a gun shot rung in the room.

Without wasting any moment, I pressed the trigger not once but twice, at the man and he fell on the ground with a thud.

I went closer to examine where my bullets had hit him. One directly in his heart and other pierced his stomach. But there were only two gunshot marks, and I had clearly heard three gun voices.

I looked away from the dead body and noticed a bleeding Laksh on the floor. He was awake, as his hand clenched his arm.

There was a lot of bleeding and I knew before the bullet's poison spread I had to take him to the hospital.

I quickly made a call to our team, who were waiting for us nearby.

An ambulance arrived soon after. As our team inspected the whole place, I left in the ambulance with an unconscious Laksh and the doctor.

The doctore had started treating him.

The site of a quiet Laksh did hurt, he is irritating when he talks but its even more saddening to see him this quiet.

•••

"You are lucky we reached on time and the bullet was removed before it could cause any further harm," The doctor told Laksh who smiled in return.

"Give him the medicines on time. I'll return soon." The doctor instructed the nurse has he left the room. The nurse left soon after. Leaving only him and I in the room.

I sat on stool, looking at him as he returned back the favour.

"Don't expect a thank you,"

"Not expecting any,"

"I won't be sorry too,"

"Don't be."

"But you did fight superbly,"

"I know that."

"I am praising you,"

"Can hear."

"Oh, so you can hear me asking you out for a coffee too?"

"Only if its from the Central Jail's canteen. They have the best." I smiled, almost laughed.

"You too, leave the jail and the criminals alone atleast."

"Sir." I wished him as he entered the hospital room.

"Good job you both, the job's done and how nicely."

We smiled at him.

"Now that you have finished your mission successfully, you can take a good long leave and enjoy your coffee. But not from the jail. Or any place where criminals exist."

Laughing at his statement, Laksh and I shared an eyelock.

"Deal then?" Laksh asked smirking.

"On board, Mr.Mehra,"

"Appreciate. Mrs,"
