As it has been since the begining of time, in the end, the heros beat the villains; good had triumphed over evil. A group of teenagers and a handful of pros defeated a league created for destruction and chaos through the secret art of plot convenience.
Pro hero Eraserhead left with probably the worst injuries, but won as his students had hoped. Number one hero, All Might, did as he always did and left with a victorious smile. The students probably learned a lesson or some bullshit, and won along side the pros that they will one day become. They had gotten their first taste of the hero life. Some found it thrilling, and others felt in over their heads. All in all, the attack was anything but a waste of time for them.
Teachers for 1B, general studies, business, and support classes explained the situation in vague detail while telling the students to learn from this. "Always be prepared", "never give up", "fight for justice", and other motivational phrases were set into them. Very few listened. Most wanted to get through it and focus on important matters that involved them. That being said, when students learned that the annual sports festival might be cancelled due to administration concerns after the attack, resent towards 1A only grew.
In past most would watch the Olympic games, but since quirks started appearing, they have been scaled down as well as viewers. Now days, for anyone who cares about competition, there's only one event matters: the UA sports festival. One chance a year; three chances in a lifetime; you can't afford to give any less than your all.
1B used it as an opportunity to prove their superiority, while background characters felt robbed out of a great opportunity. And no one more than our protagonist.
Rose had been looking forward to and planning for this festival the second Shinso told her about it. She saw this as her chance to finally make something of herself and go beyond, but that could never happen if this contest was cancelled.
"They can't call off the festival just because of something we had no control over. So some villains attacked a class, how come we have to be punished?" Rose vented to her friends.
"It isn't fair," Mei whined, "I've been building and preparing my babies all year for this. Now no one will see them destroy things.." The unusually mopy girl frowned and laid her head down in her crossed arms on the table.
Now Rocket could read lips quite well and had been trying to teach the two girls sign (a slow but steady task) but until they were masters, he stuck to writing. He flipped up his hand held white-board and scribbled down his input, writing, "they are not punishing us. The main matter is protecting the safety of students and faculty. Who's to say the league wont attack again at the festival?"
"Yeah but its more likely they won't. I'm just saying that everyone has a lot riding on this. Pro heros watch this along with the whole country! This is a huge deal they can't take it away from us," Rose added on with hand gestures to get her point across to her deaf friend in front of her.
Rocket looked down and quickly scribbled down his words, fliping up the sentences, "UA isn't gonna throw away something this huge. They'll figure something out, something safe and reasonable. Don't worry."
Rocket's reassuring writing helped easy Rose's nerves a bit. "Thanks man," she said to him and checked the time. Homeroom would start soon where the students would hopefully get some news on the subject.
Just as everyday like clockwork, mad scientist Q stumbled into the class a second before the first bell. "Good morrow wonderful students!" His singsong voice extolled to the room with the usual excitement and enthusiasm.
The students repeated the sighed, "good morning," in return and went back to anticipating the news. Eager and nervous energy could be seen all over from the students leaning forward, ones bouncing their leg, ones chewing on pens, and so much more.
Q read the room loud and clear and set down his papers and textbooks to stand in front of the class. "I suppose you all are curious about the sports festival...well whatever I say I want you to remember that all of you are heros in my eyes and no contest could begin to measure the talent of you and-" he stopped when catching a glance at Rocket's "get on with it -_-" sign.
He sighed and hung his head in a disappointed and sad manor. "I'm very sorry....that you all will have to step up your game because you will be representing 1H in the UA Sports Festival!" He looked up to the sighs of relief and cheers coming from the kids.
Mei bounced and clapped feeling a wave of new ideas for her gadgets wash over her. Rocket stayed expressionless, but on the inside he was..still expressionless, but surely he was a little happy too. Rose felt relieved and once again filled with ambition. She could see a thin thread of hope for the future and would do anything to reach it.

1A had been released to their usual class schedule while Aizawa took it easy. Board members offered him paid leave, but he refused, believing no substitute could push the kids to their limits like he would. So, our sloth man showed up everyday covered head to toe in bandages, while he taught and trained his students. He took it easy with a bit more naps than usual but he did the best of his health abilities. That to say, he was happy to be let off for lunch.
Aizawa ate in the teachers lounge with the rest of the faculty like always. Q and Mic talked his ear off while Midnight constantly made him question why she was hired to teach teenagers. He took a seat on the small couch while Q offered to heat up his leftover take out.
"So Sho remind me again why you aren't..I don't know..in the hospital?" Midnight scolded in a disappointed mother tone while heating up her tea.
"I keep telling you all I am perfectly fine," he denied through the bandages smothering his face.
"Your shattered bones are being held together by tape and rubber bands! You, sir, are not at all fine," Q said what they were thinking.
"Yeah dude, the professor's right," Mic loudly projected his input, "you gotta like take it easy before you really hurt something, ya feel me?" He gave him caring finger guns.
Before Shouta could answer, he felt a second, slightly smaller body sit down next to him on the couch. UA's eccentric therapist, Shizuka Royce, turned to look at Shouta, his tired, honey eyes studying him carefully while his hands picked through the leftover take out, boxed up and in his lap. The man leaned back, "I'd listen to Q. He is a professor after all"
Aizawa glanced up to the supposed professor. "Actually, I heard he's not a real professor-"
"WHAT!?" Q quickly spun around, nearly spilling his coffee on himself, which would have made it the second time that day. He looked around at the accusing eyes of the room and forced out a nervous laugh. "Why that's....what an odd thing to say I- balderdash! Pure horsefeathers thats-...." He trailed off before walking away and avoiding eye contact at all.
The therapist couldn't hold back the light chuckle at Q's wacky shinanigans. He wore a black overall dress neatly over a white long sleeve halter top all matched with black knee high socks and grey converse high tops. Shizuka every day would make it clear that he is by far the best dressed staff member; the only other even coming close to compare being Midnight. "All we're asking is that you take it easy for a while. We're proud you protected those kids at the USJ..but you're no use to anyone if you're more fragile than a teacup."
Shouta sighed and stood up, causing the fluffy cat ears on Shizuka's head to perk up at the movement while his tail slowly swished at his feet.
"My well being is irrelevant. But thank you, your concerns mean a lot, and I'll be sure to keep that in mind. If you'll excuse me, I have a lot of paperwork to get through so I'll just eat in my classroom." Shouta waved goodbye before disappearing into the long hallways. His arms, legs, and just about everything ached with a mild jolt of pain with each step. But you don't get to be a UA alumni by whining about a few broken bones. Our Aizawa kept his head up and walked to his classroom with purpose.
He ate his leftovers at his desk while busying himself with various forms. Paperwork from the attack, some for the festival, and wavers for the parents crowded his desk from corner to corner. He sighed and put his pen down, looking around the room for any form of distraction.
Like fate (because we cannot find any other reason why), Aizawa got a knock outside his door. Figuring one of his students had left something behind, he welcomed them in with a simple "enter". Though, the student standing outside was not his.
Our hopeful protagonist had waited outside the giant doors of 1A for a couple minutes thinking over her words a million times before knocking. He was a little surprised to see her there but more or less did not show it.
"Support course kid. Can I help you?" He calmly asked not looking up from his scattered papers.
Rose took a breath and went over her script she mentally planned, saying, "Yeah I was actually hoping to talk to you about the-the sports festival." She asked holding her head up and faking any lost confidence.
"If you're here to convince me not to cancel it, one: its not my authority, and two: don't worry it's still going to happen."
"Yeah-no-yeah, that's not exactly what I was-" she took another breath and moved on with it. "A kid told me you have an opening in your class and you were looking to transfer another student," Rose said avoiding eye contact and feeling a bit worried to hear his answer.
Aizawa sighed and muttered, "Shinso" under his breath knowing full well it was him. He stood up and faced her with a calm demeanor that Rose was a bit intimidated by. "Look kid, I can't transfer everyone who's unhappy with their class. I'm not even transferring the general studies student, he believes he has what it takes to be a hero and I do too. During the sports festival, I'm gonna watch him and see if he's hero course material. I'm not promising anything."
Rose looked down expecting that to be his response. She looked back up with her next point, "I'm not asking for you to transfer me..I just need another chance to-"
"Prove to yourself that you're worth more than the support course. Kid, I've heard that from every single student who didn't make it into 1A or B. How are you any different than them? What makes you special enough to be in the spotlight?"
Rose put her head back down in between answers. She had went over every possible response he might give but she still couldn't answer this. She couldn't afford to mess this up. All she could do was be honest. "I staked everything on being a hero. I worked my ass off in the exams and..it just wasn't enough. I know now that there isn't ever enough I can give. That being a hero is a constant battle of giving your all and more. And I'm willing to do that. You told me that if I do my best then I will get what I worked for. Please just..let me work for this."
He held a stare and silence for a short moment before saying, "You're asking me for another chance at the top. I don't know if you're really worth that chance. There are a hundred students who would like the same opportunity as you, so why should I give it to you?"
This time Rose didn't look down, and instead kept her head up and stood straight. "Cause I'm not gonna blow it." She held her breath waiting to hear from him. Aizawa stayed silent and took note of her confident claim. He nodded and held out his hand to her. "It was good meeting you. Go out there and show me you deserve this. Then we'll talk."
"I won't let you down." Rose smiled and eagerly shook his hand before turning around to leave. Once the door was closed she jumped up and quietly cheered for herself. She put her hands on her head to try and recall everything to make sure this was really happening. After confirming this wasn't a dream she punched the air in victory and hurried back to class.
The thread of hope was clearer and now in reach. She grabbed it knowing this would be a long and perilous climb to the top but Rose was up for it. Her journey was just beginning.
Yay for Rose!! Looks like she might get her chance after all
