Overcoming the Final Day Part 3

Albert stood by the door dead, riddled in bullets. Sheldon realized he had taken all of these shots to keep him safe. The man’s eyes glance, Sheldon as he turned his gun. Sheldon ran outside shutting the door quickly behind him mostly out of constant habit. He ran looking for a way to escape.

Then he heard his mother’s voice, “Sheldon come here quickly!”

She was by a car waiting for him her face was battered her clothes were torn, but could he trust her? He couldn’t make heads or tails of what was going on.

“Run!” He heard the voice yet again speak.

He gritted his teeth, and he ran towards the car looking slightly back at his house that was now consumed with flames. He passed dead servants laying on the ground with helpless faces. They seem to be trying to say something despite being dead.
He got inside the passenger seat in the car as his mom got in the next side.

“It going to be okay, Sheldon, it’s going to be okay, it’s going to be okay.”

She repeated as she put the car into drive as they both left the mansion. The car light blazed the heavy pitched darken road, as it stormed the road with fury everything around them told a tale of an ominous end.

It did not take long before they pursuers were on their tale, it was one then two now three cars that chased them down this road. Sheldon couldn’t help looking at the cars behind him that look like monsters in pursuit.

What was going on, he kept thinking for a dream it felt so real but it couldn’t be real?

He passed a sign that marked Desolation upon it, he could see the check point approaching. He had been here before with his mom quite a few times. The men waved for her to slow down but his mother kept on speeding up. He saw one of the younger men grab his gun and fired shots upon the car as they sped past. The pursuers had also pass the check point but after a while they had been lost to the dark.

His adrenaline had been pumping the whole while and for the first time he glanced at his mom now realizing that she had been shot. She grimaced in agony as she tried her best to hold it in. It wasn’t long before she was the side of the road beside the car, on both sides laid a thick shield of forest.

Despite her agony, she smiled at him, “Run Sheldon, I will be right behind you.”

He leaned over to hug her, but with the last of her strength she pushed him away.

His foot touched the ground, as he heard a cracking sound. He looked back at the car to see his mom looking at him.

Her hair covering her bloodied face, her smile grotesque as she pointed at him. “Coward!”

The words sent shivers down his spine as he fell back on the ground, landing on the huge crack that had been made there.

He was still in a dream.

A voice laugh in the back as he heard more crackling sounds, you think you can escape me. You think you can escape destiny. You belong to me, keep thinking it’s a dream. There is no escape.

The radiant butterfly had appeared yet again before him, it did not speak just lighted up his dark surroundings. Leading him towards the forest. He could hear the pursuers, they were closing in. Getting closer and closer with each second that passed. He gripped his fist together as he ran through the forest.

He had been going for a while, as the trees seem to look as though they were coming to life. Sheldon knew something was wrong, the butterfly had not whispered a word to him since he came in this direction and now that he had focused on what it look like he realized. It was not purple with the shades of blue, it was red.
The realization made him come to a halt as the trees smiled. The butterfly turned towards him again. Sheldon looked all around him, how far had he gone?

“Sheldon, Sheldon, Sheldon,” he heard his name being called.

He turned his head left where the voice was coming from and there was the butterfly, he knew. A blinding light came from it as the imposter disintegrated.

“Come this way. Run.”

He followed its direction, as the trees roots lift out the ground and their branches swayed. They tried their best to shuffle to block his path. Narrowly missing him as he dodged,  rolled and skid his way forward.
He ran and ran in his pursuit of the butterfly,  he saw a light, brightness and warmth piercing from one side ahead of him. The trees face mocked him taking the shape of all the people he had left behind, his father his mother and the servants. People Sheldon hadn’t even seen for a while.

He was a breath away from touching the light, he could feel it on his face and then he felt the roots tied around his leg gripping him tugging him, dragging him back.

You will never escape this.

He saw a face beyond the trees, a face of a girl long black hair and brown eyes.

“Help me!” he shouted but was met with no response.

He found himself caught in a tug-of-war situation the more he struggled the more it tugged. He could only hold out for so long.

He shouted at the top of his voice, “ Someone please help me!”

Again he was met with no response, as his body was tugged even further away. He noticed the deepening cracks upon the ground.

Tears, filled his eyes “ please someone help m…”

Light pierced the trees, burning the roots that held him away weakening the voice that mocked him. It was so bright he couldn’t look at it directly. He had to turn his head away.

“Hey, what’s your name?” She asked as he looked at her, a gentle smile laid on her face my name is Natalya.
He turned back his head to see the trees were all back to normal as though nothing was a missed.
Was it all a dream? Her hands touched was soft as she got him to his feet. He looked at the city beyond even from here he was could tell, it reeked of suffering.

“Where am I?” he asked her.

“Hmmm, where outside the city of desolation, your hurt.” She ripped the side of her clothes and wiped the blood that was leaking from the side of his head.

"Wake up Sheldon, Wake up."

He woke to find himself drench in sweat in the arms of Cindy. He monetarily panicked at his surroundings as he tried to sit up.

“You were having a bad dream.” She said.

“It felt so real, I swore I could hear you in my dream as if you were guiding me.”

“It is okay Sheldon, you’re fine now, you don’t have to be afraid of nightmares anymore.”

Sheldon looked at her long but did not understand the meanings behind the words in which spoke.

Mother, he thought, I miss you.
