Chapter Six
There are two days left until the party.
Jungkook stubbornly refuses to refer to it as an engagement dinner, or accept the engagement at all, but he does plan on going.
Even if he wanted to, there's no way his heart would allow him to miss this. Miss an opportunity to see Yoongi all pretty and dressed up.
Even if he'll be on an arm that isn't his.
A raised voice from his bathroom brings him out of his fantasizing of Yoongi.
"Can you bring me my clothes? I think I left them on the bed."
Jungkook lazily turns his attention away from his window towards his bed.
After briefly scanning the mussed up sheets and bedding his eyes fall on the small stack of clothing he recognizes as not being his.
Picking them up, he walks the clothes to the bathroom wordlessly.
He walks through the open door, right up to the counter adjacent to the frosted glass shower.
His eyes briefly scan the smooth, lightly marked up, soapy skin of the man standing under the stream of water.
His dick twitches slightly with interest but, despite the physical reaction, he isn't really in the mood to do anything about it.
He lets him know the clothes are by the sink before taking his leave, shutting the door that had previously been left open behind him.
He then walks to his kitchen, in the mood for a tangerine or two as he waits for his guest to be done showering.
Just as he starts peeling the second fruit, he hears the padding of footsteps.
"Ah," he hears from behind. "Tangerines. You only eat those when you're missing him."
"That's not true," Jungkook quickly denies– stuffing half of the sphere into his mouth– knowing full well that's exactly why he was eating them.
There was a time when Yoongi barely ate anything but the small, sweet fruits. Jungkook used to crave the taste of them.
Not the sweet citrus of the fruit itself, but the taste they would leave on Yoongi's lips.
The way they would flavor his tongue when it would twirl so perfectly with his own. The way he'd taste like candy–
"You're thinking of him again," he hears Jimin say, a hint of judgment in his tone.
He averts his attention to his friend, only to follow his gaze to where he's looking at his obviously semi-hard cock in his sweats.
"Have you ever wondered if you're actually in love with him or if you're just extremely infatuated? There is a difference between the two."
Jungkook isn't able to answer right away to tell him he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about as he had just popped the other half of the Tangerine in his mouth.
He chews it furiously, swallowing quickly to deliver his comeback, but the other interjects first.
"Just a thought. Nothing to get worked up about. Anyway, it's nice to know my other theory was correct," he smirks. "I thought I heard you say his name last night. Guess I was right."
Jungkook's eyes widen at that. Sure, he was and has been thinking of Yoongi quite a bit more– if that were possible– since he'd met with him, but he didn't realize that aside from him thinking of Yoongi last night he'd actually said his name.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't- I didn't realize-"
Jimin just waves it off, laughing lightly. "It's fine. Granted, it doesn't feel the best when someone is balls deep in your ass and moans someone else's name, but it's not like we're a couple. It's not a big deal."
"Still a shitty thing to do..." Jungkook grumbles with a pout, not feeling any less embarrassed.
"Thinking of an old flame while you fuck someone else? Yeah, it's not the healthiest thing to do but if it's what you need to do to cope or whatever then do what you've gotta do. Besides, it's not like I've never wished you were someone else during sex," he wiggles his brows.
Jungkook brings his hand to his chest with a dramatic gasp. "How dare you! I demand to know who could possibly be on your mind while I'm right there giving you mind blowing orgasms."
"Mind blowing," Jimin rolls his eyes with a smile. "So confident in your dick game aren't you. And wouldn't you like to know! I keep my crushes to myself... Keep his name to myself when I cum too," he adds with a shit-eating grin.
Jungkook narrows his eyes at his friend. "You are never going to let me live this down, are you."
"Not likely," he giggles.
Jungkook is about to whine about how unfair the older is being when his phone vibrates from the kitchen counter.
Keeping his scowl on his lips, he stalks to the device, his expression brightening when he sees the message.
Although it has come from an unknown number, the message clearly states the place and time of the party.
Jungkook didn't realize he was smiling down at his phone until Jimin comes up next to him, teasing him.
"Shut up," rolls his eyes. "It's just info about a..." just as the words leave his mouth, Jungkook gets an idea.
Turning to Jimin with a smirk, he asks him what he's doing Sunday night.
"Got a hot date with Netflix and an extra spicy bowl of ramen." He answers almost proudly before tilting his head. "Why? Got a better offer?"
"How would you like to go to a dinner party?"
Jimin keeps his eyes on the younger, expecting him to give a little more detail, but when he stays silent he pushes for more info himself.
"Who's party is it? And where is it?" He pauses to take a breath. "And who will be there? Will I need to eat my ramen before or does dinner mean actual food that would feed an adult adequately will be served?"
"Kim Taehyung is the host and it will be at his place." Jungkook answers vaguely, disregarding all other questions that'd been asked.
He has no intention of giving Jimin any more detail than that. Jungkook hasn't told Jimin about meeting with Yoongi or finding out about him getting engaged.
He knows Jimin will throw a fit, likely raising his voice and telling him how bad of an idea it is for Jungkook to be going– which Jungkook is fully aware of, but chooses to ignore– and he doesn't want to deal with that right now.
He can cross that bridge later. Much, much later.
Jimin keeps eyeing him eagerly, silently urging him to continue.
When Jungkook doesn't he groans in exasperation.
"At least tell me if it's a formal thing and I'll need to wear a suit. Or is it more business casual? Or is it more chill and I can wear like, jeans or something."
"Not sure," Jungkook voices simply.
"For God's sake Jungkook!" Jimin groans dramatically. "That's kind of an important detail! You don't want to show up in khakis and a polo while everyone else is in Gucci suits, which if I know anything about Kim Taehyung, it's that the guy basically lives in tailored, designer suits."
"When have you ever seen me in a polo shirt?" Jungkook asks more rhetorically than looking for an actual answer.
He doesn't even think he owns a polo shirt. Or a pair of khakis for that matter.
"That's not the point," Jimin falls backwards onto the couch, opening Instagram so he can see what his crush is up to.
It doesn't take much scrolling for him to find the specific post he remembered seeing a few days ago.
It's a picture of the gorgeous man with a pink plushie– of which he is unfortunately hiding behind so it obstructs the view of his angelic face– and reading back over the caption, the post makes a lot more sense to Jimin.
It reads: My dongsaeng is growing up right before my eyes. Little brat went and got himself engaged without telling me! He bought me a new plushie to make it up to me though so we're good. Now, all I need is a date for the wedding... Any takers? With a series of heart and smiley face emojis at the end.
Although he wasn't in it, Taehyung was tagged in the photo and scanning over the comments beneath the post, Jimin sees a few people talking about a dinner party hosted by the groom-to-be to which the object of Jimin's affection replies with a confirmation that he will be there.
"I'll go!" Jimin speaks a bit too excitedly.
He clears his throat in attempt to regulate his tone before looking from his phone up to where Jungkook is stood.
"I mean, it'd be embarrassing for you to go alone, you know? You don't even know Taehyung that well do you?"
(Now that Jimin thinks about it, it's kind of odd to invite a semi-acquaintance to a party to celebrate something as significant and personal as your engagement, but whatever.
Not like Jimin cares as long as a certain someone will be there.)
Jungkook purses his lips with a tilt of his head. "Well enough for him to invite me to this apparently, but no. Not really."
"Alright, I'll be your plus one."
Jungkook crashes his brown together, looking down at his friend. "How did you know I could bring a plus one?"
"You're asking me to go so I just assumed," Jimin answers confidentially, trying to play off that it was a lucky guess.
"Fine, I'd appreciate not having to go alone. But let's be clear, this is not a date," Jungkook says matter-of-factly.
"There you go again thinking so highly of yourself," Jimin huffs sarcastically before clicking his tongue. "I wasn't thinking it was so you don't have to worry about that."
"Good," Jungkook nods shortly. "Well, I'm going to go shower now. Feel free to stay or go, I don't really care."
"That may be the most romantic thing you've ever said to me." Jimin manages to say with a straight face. "Such a gentleman."
Jungkook grumbles to himself as he makes his way to his room and Jimin laughs loudly to himself.
After his laughter dies down, Jimin walks over to the couch, settling into the cushions and goes back to looking through Instagram.
Well, a certain person's Instagram.
"If you're going to be there, I'll be damn sure to look my very best." He smirks. "You'll be begging to take me home."
He smiles giddily as he begins thinking of possible outfits and hairstyles for the party.
He does not plan on leaving that party alone at the end of the night.
Preferably not with Jungkook either.
He loves the kid to death, but despite them having sex every now and then, he doesn't see him as anything more than a close friend.
Luckily the younger has been so hung up on his Yoongi-hyung that he hasn't developed any feelings for Jimin either.
It's been perfect.
A true Friends With Benefits situation with no romance or unrequited feelings to be found because Jimin and Jungkook both know; there's only room for one person in Jungkook's heart and Jimin will never be him.
