Chapter Four

Jungkook holds his head high as he walks into the impressive high rise.

His company wasn't part of the construction of this particular building as far as he is aware, but he can appreciate the craftsmanship of the architect who did design the place.

It's immaculate.

As he stands behind a gentleman at the front desk of the lobby who also seems to be checking in for an appointment for one of the offices in the building, he continues to admire the space.

Light grey marble floors work well to reflect the light that floods in through the slightly tinted glass doors he'd come in through.

They also help disperse the brightness coming from the intricate, large light fixtures recessed into the high ceiling. It truly is a beautiful building.

When he hears the man's dress shoes begin to click as he steps away from the desk, Jungkook steps forward.

"Hello sir, do you have an appointment?" She asks, sounding professional yet still friendly.

Jungkook looks at her, studies her for a moment. She looks familiar but he can't quite place her.

Before it becomes awkward that he's been staring too long he answers that yes, he does have an eleven o'clock appointment.

"Oh I see, for JK Drafting & Design?" She clarifies, to which Jungkook nods with a smile.

"It seems you are a bit early, but he will appreciate that," she smiles. "If you take the second elevator on the left, his office is on the seventh floor."

With a nod and a smile, Jungkook thanks her for her help before stepping away to get to the elevator.

When he gets to the seventh floor he is met with another reception desk, a gentleman sitting behind it this time, who confirms his appointment again.

He's then shown to a conference room and asked to take a seat.

"We have notified him of your arrival and he should be in any time."

After declining the offer for a water or coffee, the gentleman takes his leave, allowing Jungkook to have the room to himself to go over his plan.

It has been a week since his meeting with Yoongi and it was amazing how easily things had come together, what information they were able to find, in that time.

As Yoongi had informed, within a few days after their dinner together his engagement was announced.

At that point, Jungkook had already gathered some clues as to who Yoongi was to wed. The news article simply confirmed it.

As soon as he'd discovered the identity of the mystery fiancé it was immediately apparent why Yoongi hadn't shared the name with him.

If Jungkook had walked away that night knowing who the man was, he would have done something irrational. Acted without thought.

Today, that is far from the case. This meeting is just the beginning.

The first step is to align himself and the fiancé professionally.

Get closer to him through working together– Jungkook having a reason to be around the man professionally– will open the door for them to possibly, if everything goes as planned, become friends on a more personal level.

That's the main goal because then he can be closer to Yoongi. Erode their relationship from the inside, hopefully pushing his fiancé out of the picture so he can take the other's place at Yoongi's side.

Flipping through the binder he's prepared with his job proposal, some sketches for reference purposes and a few other documents that make up a solid business plan, the door to the conference room opens.

He stands up immediately with his brightest smile, hand outstretched towards the man.

Kim Taehyung.

His suit is well tailored, his hair styled and parted to perfectly showcase his handsome features, with a winning smile that looks ever warm and welcoming.

"Jungkook-ssi," he grins, walking closer to shake the outstretched hand. "It's so nice to see you again."

Jungkook returns the smile, although his own is a little less genuine.

"Nice to see you too, sunbaenim."

"Oh please, we may not be that close but you know me well enough to not need to use such formalities. Call me hyung."

And it's true. Jungkook may not have had a more vital role in his company for long, but he has crossed paths with Taehyung more than a few times.

He didn't realize they were close enough for him to be permitted to call him hyung, but that permission gives him hope that this meeting may go even better than he's originally planned it to.

"Of course, hyung," he smiles as they both take their seats.

Before they start in with talk about Jungkook's job proposal, Taehyung asks Jungkook how business is going, compliments him on the most recent construction the company had completed and asks if it was one Jungkook had a hand in.

Jungkook proudly confirms that it was, then, to his surprise, Taehyung brings up something Jungkook did not expect.

Something nowhere close to what he thought would be discussed today.

"I know you originally came to present plans for the new office building we're building across town, and I'd be happy to see those plans as well, but I actually have a proposal of my own to speak with you about."

Jungkook quirks a brow, "Is that so?"

"Truthfully, it is my C.O.O. who usually takes these meetings and approves plans that he will then run by me for final approval."

Jungkook steels his expression at this news as best he can to hide his surprise because he didn't know this.

"As soon as I heard you were the one being sent from your company to meet with us, I cleared my schedule to be able to sit down with you myself."

"That is very kind of you, but I'm a bit confused by that, I must admit." He says, before lifting his lips in a more teasing smirk. "Or did you just miss my company that much."

Taehyung laughs. "Not exactly, although I do enjoy our talks, however few and far between they may be. You asking for a meeting actually comes at a very opportune time for something that's happening in my personal life within the coming months."

Jungkook immediately assumes he's talking about his marriage.

Within the coming months. It's not a specific date, but it does give Jungkook somewhat of a time frame of when it will happen, so he'll take it.

Jungkook sits up a little taller, all of his focus directed at the man in front of him, dying to hear what he's about to say.

"I don't know if you've heard, but I am engaged."

It takes everything in his power not to grimace but smile instead. "I had heard whispers and seen an article but was unsure of their validity. I've heard more than a few times women, and men, claiming to be in a serious relationship with you.

"Which makes sense as are a young, handsome man. I'd lie about it too hoping it'd come true," he jests, no truth behind the words. "But it seems this time the gossip about town and the magazines were right! Congratulations to you. To you and your fiancé both."

Something Jungkook can't quite identify flashes in Taehyung's eyes, but as quickly as it appears it is gone, and he is smiling brightly back at him. "Thank you, I am extremely happy about it. Anyway, I'd like to talk to you about a rumor regarding your company I've heard recently that I wasn't sure was true or not."

"A rumor." Jungkook repeats.

"Yes. I heard a few months back that your company was considering expanding into high end residential construction. Is that true?"

Jungkook can't help the way his eyes widen just the slightest bit. It really had been months ago that they had the briefest of ideas to go into residential real estate, but they got busy with other jobs and the suggestion remained nothing more than that; a suggestion.

Truthfully, it was Jungkook's brother who had wanted to pivot somewhat into residential building and Jungkook brought it up again to the shareholders a little while back.

They ultimately approved to a trial period to see how lucrative the idea might be but Jungkook himself ended up pushing it to the back burner for a bit to help with the influx of commercial job requests that had suddenly come in.

How any of this got out and to Taehyung is beyond him.

Jungkook closes his mouth, clearing his throat before answering that yes, it was an idea they'd had.

"Well, if you'd consider it, I'd like to hire you to re-build a home. A home for myself and my fiancé."

Jungkook blinks with a slight tilt of his head. "When you say re-build, what exactly do you mean?"

"The home is one my fiancé has expressed interest in, but to say it is a fixer upper is an extreme understatement. The foundation is solid and the floor plan isn't bad, but it needs a lot of work done to make it presentable. And livable."

Jungkook perks up yet again. A house that his fiancé finds interest in. This would be a house for Yoongi.

"I know your company normally sees jobs through from the footings to the roof when it comes to office buildings and such, but I am very interested and willing to pay whatever is needed if you would help me in rebuilding and renovating this home for him."

And those words; for him, are the only thing Jungkook needs to hear to get him on board.

"What did you have in mind?" He asks and from then on all talk of a new office building is forgotten.

They spend the rest of the hour with Jungkook jotting down notes about details of the home and it's location; the acreage of land it sits on; what type of things Taehyung himself would like to see in the home; those types of details.

But for all the requests and ideas Taehyung has to improve and change about the place he is very adamant that this would be a home for his fiancé as he would be the one spending the most time there.

Jungkook still took into account the things Taehyung said that he believed Yoongi would want, but he also took down some notes of his own using his own knowledge of Yoongi's hobbies, likes and dislikes.

He would be sure to suggest a large kitchen for the cooking Yoongi likes to do. And they should find a way to have a large sun room for his painting built in.

As well as a space large enough for Yoongi to house a piano along with any other instruments he'd like or has.

As Jungkook was writing down Taehyung's request for a pool (something Jungkook already knew would be low on Yoongi list of things he'd prioritize having put in) his pen froze mid sentence, his eyes snapping up to look at Taehyung.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"Where I am so busy in the office, you would mostly be working with my fiancé. It's not to say I won't be there as often as I can, but his schedule tends to be more flexible than mine."

Taehyung purses his lips in thought before continuing on. "Working directly with him probably works out better anyway though because, as I've previously said, he will be spending the most time in the house, so it is important that has everything he wants."

The smile that appears on Jungkook's face is inevitable. So bright he hopes Taehyung will attribute it to excitement for the job and nothing more.

Houses can take months to complete. And this house will be a big project. Through all that time, he will get to spend it with Yoongi.

"That isn't a problem at all."

Taehyung smiles happily, glad that Jungkook has agreed to his personal request.

He then checks his watch and sees that it's time for him to head to his next meeting.

Standing up and straightening his jacket, he thanks Jungkook for his willingness to do this for him.

"Take your time organizing the ideas we had today and we'll set up a time for us to meet at the house to get a better idea of what you'd be working with." He stretches out his hand to Jungkook, which Jungkook takes in a firm hand shake.

After they disconnect, Taehyung dawns a thoughtful expression. "Actually, we are having a small get together this Friday. Just a little mixer at our flat to celebrate the engagement. You're welcome to come if you're free."

"I'd love to," Jungkook smiles genuinely. "Just send me the details."

"Perfect, I'll have Soobin, my assistant whom you checked in with earlier at reception, forward the invite. You can bring a plus one as well so feel free to make it a date."

The only date I'd want to bring is your fiancé, he thinks, but settles on "I will do that. Thank you."

Just as they are about to step out of the conference room into the hallway Taehyung notices the leather portfolio Jungkook had prepared with presumably the office construction plans organized in his hands.

"Why don't you leave the proposal for the office building at the front desk with Soobin. He will make sure it gets to my partner for him to review."

Jungkook nods, smile still in place.

After removing the papers which he took notes on regarding the house to keep for himself, he closes the binder to give to Soobin.

He and Taehyung shake hands once more before bidding each other farewell.

With a skip in his step, Jungkook heads for the reception desk.

After that he grins all the way to the elevator and continues smiling as he waits for the valet to bring him his car.

He just leaped right over working with Taehyung in hopes of getting closer to Yoongi to potentially working one on one with his pretty hyung.

This meeting could not have gone any better.
