13. LEFT AT THE ALTAR!!
"Momma, will you tie this d*mn tie?" Tim growls at his fourth attempt to tie his tie as he looks into the mirror.
"Watch your mouth." Dena chuckles at her son's frustration.
"Sorry, I'm just really nervous." Tim says as he turns to face his mother.
"Understandable. It's not everyday that you get married." Dena smiles as she ties her son's tie.
"Yeah." Tim answers in an unreadable tone.
"Sweetheart? Is everything okay?" Dena asks, noticing her son's mood. "I always thought a man was supposed to be happy on his wedding day."
"Mom ..." Tim starts as he takes her small hands in his.
"Tim? You bout ready?" Rob says as he sticks his head into the room. "It's time."
"Yeah, I guess." Tim answers as he gives his mom a sad smile.
Tim grabs his suit coat and slips it on as he heads out the door. Meeting the pastor in the hall, he follows him to the chapel as Rob leads Dena to their seats.
Taking his position at the front of the church, his eyes nervously scans across the crowded chapel. The sound of the guest chatting back and forth roared like a strong wind in his ears.
His eyes soon meet eyes staring back at him. Eyes that were full of sadness and tears. Tim hangs his head as he feels those eyes rip his heart from his chest.
Soft music begins to play, quietening the guest. Everyone turns their attention to the door, waiting on the beautiful bride to appear.
Tim takes a deep breath and lifts his eyes to the door.
A lifetime seemed to have ticked by as he stared at the door. He actually lost track of how long.
Mummers begin to rise from their guest as they give each other confused looks.
Olena, a friend of both the bride and the groom, slips out of the chapel to check to see if the bride was having problems.
"I apologize for the delay." The pastor says. "I'm sure we'll get started shortly."
Tim glances around nervously at his mom, sister and his band mates. All who could only shrug their shoulders.
Olena soon appears with a sad look on her face as she makes her way down the aisle towards Tim. All fell silent as their eyes follow her.
"She's gone, Tim." Olena whispers to the groom.
"What? What do you mean by gone? As in left?" Tim asks with a confused look.
"I couldn't find her anywhere. Just her wedding dress and this." Olena says as she hands him a sealed envelope.
Tim takes the envelope and opens it with shaking hands. He pulls out the letter and reads to himself:
My Dearest Tim,
First of all, Please, forgive me. I am truly sorry. But we can not allow this to happen. I'm sorry I chose to end it in this manner. I knew of no other way. We both secretly knew that this wedding was a huge mistake and we chose to please my parents instead of ourselves. We were pushed into something that I truly believe neither of us really wanted. I know about you two. Yes, I've known for sometime now. But please don't feel guilty, Sweetheart. Because, I too, have someone else.
I will always love you and you will always hold a special place in my heart. I pray that we can remain friends. It would hurt too much to lose you in my life completely.
I wish you two the very best in life. And if there is ever a wedding? I expect an invitation. ;)
So sorry for leaving you to face the angry mob alone. But not sorry for leaving my dad with a HUGE wedding bill. LOL
Love you always,
Jenika
Tim slowly lifts his eyes to their guest. No one made a sound as they stare at the groom.
"Uh" Tim says with a hard swallow as he puts the letter back into the envelope. "There will be no wedding."
Tim turns quickly on his heels and heads back to the dressing room. Leaving behind a stunned crowd.
He closes the door behind him and leans against it.
"What the hell just happened?" He mumbled to himself as he takes some deep breaths. He walks over to the dresser, placing his hands on it and leans over. Trying hard to regulate his breathing. So many emotions were crashing in on him. He wasn't for sure if he was suppose to cry or laugh. To be sad, happy, angry or what.
A click of the door causes him to look up into the mirror.
The eyes that were once sad and full of tears where now looking at him confused.
"It's over." Tim says quietly as he holds up the letter.
"Over?" He was asked.
Tim turns around and hands the letter to waiting hands.
"It's really over?" The now smiling eyes asks after reading the letter.
"Yep, I'm all yours, Baby." Tim says with a smile.
"Bout d*mn time." Chance smiles through his tears as he pulls his lover into a passionate kiss.
