CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE

Quote of the day: fear resides in our heart, take out that fear and do what you have always wanted to do, it might turn out not to be as hard as you think, take that bold step.

Greg was indeed a very happy man, he felt like the whole world was under his command, why?  He had the most beautiful woman in the world right here in his arms, and guess what? She was also his girlfriend, who would have thought.

His lips were still locked with hers and he wasn't letting her go any time soon, his hands ran over her body, he felt her hands roaming over his chest, the heat seeping from her delicate hands made him want to pull his damn clothes off. He trailed kisses down her neck, kissing the sensitive part between her neck and shoulder, he heard her let out a soft moan, damn he could listen to that all day.

"I always knew there was something more to this personal secretary thingy," Greg heard a voice saying which immediately jerked Ashley up. He felt her trying to wiggle out of his embrace which he didn't allow. He looked down at her and gave her his sweetest smile, noticing the faint blush that crept up her cheeks.

Greg finally looked at the door with Ashley tucked safely in his arms. As you can already guess it was none other than the Davis Castle himself.  First of all, what was he doing here?

"How about I introduce you to a foreign language called knocking," Greg said with a scowl. He loved his best friend but he clearly didn't need such a cock blocker in his life.

"I didn't know I had to knock before walking into my best friend's office, but when I noticed that Ashley wasn't on seat I knew something was up. So I did knock today, but you were both wrapped up in your little world and didn't hear." Davis said walking  into his office like he owned the damn place.

"Why are you here?" He asked gruffly letting Ashley go as she squirmed in his arms, he watched her make for the door and at that moment he just wanted to hang Davis.

"Hello, Ashley we see again," Davis said with a smile hugging her. Greg's eyes saw red.

"You might be my friend but that doesn't mean I won't kill you if you touch my girlfriend," Greg said between gritted teeth.  He watched as Ashley got out of Davis embraced and left his office hurriedly. Davis turned to look at him with a smirk.

"Girlfriend huh?" He asked sitting down on one of the couch, Greg followed suit.

    "So?"

"When did this happen? And why I'm I just hearing of this?"

"Its just today, Davis," Greg said with an eye roll. He could have told Davis last night when he asked her out considering that Davis had stayed the night at his house, but he had been scared that Ashley would reject him.

"Just today and you are already making babies," Davis said with a sly look.

   "Davis."

"Wow for real girlfriend, not just fuck buddies?" Davis asked again with a confused look.

   "Yes," he answered sharply.

"Damn is the Almighty Gregory Kane Marshall going soft," Davis said and this only earned him an eye roll from Greg. "I never would have thought that Ashley would ask you out I knew she had a rebellious streak in her but..."

"She didn't ask me out dumbo, I asked her out," Greg said trying hard not to punch this dude he called a best friend, like how the hell could he think of his Ashley in such disrespectful  manner?

"That is epic!" Davis yelled his perfect features breaking into a wide smile. "The Almighty Gregory Kane Marshall has actually gone soft, there must be something about this Ashley."

"Yes there is," Greg Said wistfully. He wouldn't deny it, it was like she possessed some supernatural abilities to turn his heart.

"Dude, you look in love," Davis said laughing. This only made him freeze, did he love her? Guess that was a question for another time.

"Back to the main thing, why are you in my office?"

"Calm down dude, I know you hate me so much for cock blocking you, now I regret doing so. Maybe if I didn't talk I would have gotten me some smutty scenes to think of for the rest of my life."

"Davis Christopher Castle!" Greg called. There was anger resonating in his voice, the look of feign seriousness on his friends face assured him that he got the message.

"Ok I'm sorry, I came here for something quite important," Davis said with utmost seriousness.

    "What?" He asked with disinterest.

"Well, I missed you," Davis whined like a baby, all he wanted to do was to kill him there and then.

"So what you are telling me is that you interrupted me because you missed me," Greg said calmly trying not to sound angry.

"Yes, I haven't been seeing much of you lately, you enjoy spending more time with your girl friend now," he said with a pretense hurt look.

"Davis I saw you last night and this morning at my house," Greg said trying hard to make sense of the nonsense his friend was sprouting, but then if Davis was being this way it could only mean one thing. "Wait,  lemme guess, you are going to see your brother again."

"Damn, Gregory, you finally understood," Davis said with an eye roll. "There is this family get together that is going to take place this weekend and he is going to be there."

"And you aren't sure you want to see him," Greg said quietly. He knew that Davis didn't really like being with his brother much for some reason, he felt guilty for something that happened in the past, he had tried to get him to come out of it several times but, he wouldn't.

"I just can't help but feel so guilty when I see him. I wish I had supported him when he came out then saying he was gay. But I had been among the foolish ones too, you know its so hard seeing him now. He hardly talks to anyone in the family, he just hides behind that company of his."

"I still feel that you should talk to him, maybe he doesn't hate you as much as you think." Greg said trying to sound reasonable, he hated giving advices.

"You don't get it, Greg, we had been so close back then..."

"I know, I was there the whole time."

"And then, when he needed me the most I turned my back against him, he must hate me so much," Davis said. His voice was husky, he could hear the bottled up tears behind the voice.

"He can't blame you, you were seventeen and dumb, not that you are sensible now," Greg said with sarcasm. He saw his friend's face lit up a little, and Greg could say he looked better this way, cheery and charming Davis was what he needed. "And moreover you should talk to him, you can't keep running from him, I'm sure he doesn't even think of the whole issue that way, moreover he is older than you for a reason, he would understand."

"Tell me why I love you again," Davis said with a bright smile.

"Oh please, I have a girlfriend," he said with a slight chuckle.

"So now that she is here, are you gon forget about me?" Davis asked with a cute pout.

"I literally forgot about you while still seated here, so what do you think would happen if you leave, coupled with the great fact that I have Ashley now, you will be nothing but history in a matter of minutes."

     "Really!!" Davis exclaimed.

"Oh yes, really," he said getting off the couch, walking to his desk to continue his work.

When it was around 6pm Ashley got a call from Greg telling her to see him in his office. She went into his office quite reluctantly, she could remember what happened the last time she had been there. Gosh she had felt so embarrassed that Davis caught them that way and Greg hadn't made it any better with him holding on to her.

Ashley got in to see him bent over his desk, busy, which doesn't faze her anymore, she was so used to seeing the centre of his head by now. she walked closer to his desk, he didn't look up at her, she knew he was aware of her presence, she had enough experience with him now to tell, she decided to bend over his desk.

"Don't!" He said curtly not looking up at her.

"Don't what?" she asked with curiosity standing up fully.

"Don't bend over my desk," he said and finally looked up at her with a coy smile. Then she remembered what had happened that morning when she had bent over his desk, she tried hard to hide her blush, which was becoming hard this day. Ever since she met Greg she had been nothing but a blushing mess.

"Is there anything you summoned me for, Mr Marshall?" she said with a smile.

"Ashley Wells," he said between gritted teeth.

"Lemme rephrase that... Is there anything you summoned me for your royal highness?" That was right he did behave like he was some highness once in a while.

"Ashley is 'your royal highness' any better?" He asked giving her a quizzical look.

"Okay Greg, how may I help you?" Ashley asked quite casually.

"Clear Friday evening for me," he said in a commanding tone.

"Friday evening, I think you have a meeting with some shareholders," she said offhand. She wasn't an efficient secretary for nothing, she knew every of her boss schedule.

"Then cancel," he said like he wasn't trying to alter some people's  schedule. He had never done so before, except that one time he had asked her to cancel for a dinner, she knew whatever he was canceling for had to be important.

"Then what should I replace the appointment with?" she asked. She remembered a similar scenario when this had happened and the reply he had given her. "Before you say it is none of my business, I will like to let you know that I am not asking you this as your secretary, but as your girlfriend."

Greg relaxed in his seat, staring up at her, folding his arms. "My girlfriend wouldn't ask me about replacing an appointment miss Wells." He had a queer smile as he said this.

"Gregory!" she said between gritted teeth. She was trying not to get angry, he was her boyfriend now so she had to temper justice with mercy.

"What's with people calling me by my full name today?" He said feigning curiousness but when he noticed that her glare hadn't left he decided to talk, he was damn lucky. "Well I will be giving an answer to my secretary and not my girlfriend since she is a little confusing now, so Miss wells I will be going on a date which is clearly none of your business."

"A date? With who?" Ashley asked with anger. They had just started dating and he was already going on a date with someone else.

"With my girlfriend of course, and why are you so interested, Miss wells?"

Ashley looked at him dumbfounded, this guy was like a puzzle to he. She needed to figure out how to deal with him if she was going to keep her sanity in this relationship. "Your girlfriend?" Confusion laced her tone because he hadn't asked her out on a date for Friday, does that mean he had another girlfriend somewhere?

"Yes, and if you don't mind, can you excuse me Miss Wells, I need to speak to my girlfriend," Greg said with a smile.  She was practically confused, she turned on her heels and was about leaving when she heard his voice. "Ashley."

     "What Greg?" She snapped.

"Sorry," he said wincing. His voice was a lot more gentle now. "I was wondering if you would like to go out with me Friday night?" It was then she understood his silly game.

"You were so sure I was going to agree, why asking now?" She asked sarcastically.

"You're wrong, I wasn't sure because you my dear aren't predictable, I just had to clear up my schedule with my hot secretary before asking my girlfriend out on a date," he said with a smirk.

"Your hot secretary?" Ashley said trying to hold back a chuckle.

   "So, Ashley."

"Yes, I have nothing doing Friday night."

"Perfect, Friday night it is," he said with a childish smile and got back to work. She was about leaving but then something was still tugging at the back of her mind.

   "Uh,Greg."

"Yes, Ashley," he answered looking up at her, she saw his face break into a smile when he saw the curious look on her face. "Now what is the ever curious Ashley curious about this time?"

"Do you remember the time you asked me to clear up your schedule for a dinner date?"

"Yes I do, since its only ever happened once." Greg said blankly.

"Well who did you have dinner with? You don't really have to answer,  I have just been curious that is all," Ashley said sheepishly. She clearly didn't want to be tagged as a nagging girlfriend.

"Oh really I don't have to answer,  and you are sure it won't twist your insides out," Greg said with a smile. "I know how curious you are Ashley and if you must know I had dinner with Nora, not some other girl, believe me no one is that important to make me leave work."

"Ohh," she said loosing her voice, mostly because of the way he was looking at her so intently.

"What can I say, Ashley, you have woven your way into my heart."
