A few days later

Mystic Falls

Bonnie, Elena, Caroline stood in Fell's Chapel, all of them tearing up at the sight of two brothers holding tight for a minute.

Elena looked at Gaspar and silently mimicked a gracias.

Gaspar nodded a little and stepped aside, letting the bunch carry on with greetings and hugs.

No matter what Evil was lurking, nothing could take away that moment of happiness away.

Later in the Boarding House

Elena sat down on the bench outside.

"Are you all right?" - Gaspar said as he approached the doppelganger.

"Yeah" - Elena slipped, with a whiff of heaviness in her breath.

"You are thinking of him?"

"I am. And - I just - shouldn't be like this. Today is a good day. Something extraordinary happened."- Elena wiped a little tear that escaped.

"I am sorry that I cannot do more for you."

"Hey - you've done a lot. Bringing Stefan back is more than a lot"

The doppelganger got up and now excused herself and went to her car.

Parallel Mystic Falls

Elijah walked in the Witch house, where he and Elena lived for a little while together.

"If you need anything - just call me."- Wendy said as she put the blood bags in the fridge, adding-"It's good to see you."

"Likewise." - Elijah said and folded his walking stick together.

"I am sorry that we couldn't find the magic to bring your eye sight back - but -"

"But you will do so much more. You will send me home and that is more than I ever could have asked for." - Elijah said humbly.

"We will try. It still doesn't mean we will actually succeed." - the witch said.

"I thank you for that, too. For not giving up on finding a way."

"You helped us. And we owe it to you. OK. I am going now. I guess I can switched the lights off -?" - Wendy said taking her bag from the chair.

"Yes, thank you."

"All right. See you tomorrow" - the witch said and switching the lights off walked out of the house.

Elijah stood for a moment not moving. Now breathing deeply in, he let his other senses stream.

It felt like Elena was still in the house. Even though a year had passed, still all of her lingered there still.

He smiled happily. They were a world apart and yet it was as if she was so close.

"Elena" - the Original muttered closing his eyes as it to feel the nearness of her even more intensely, thinking of the song he loved playing on the piano, a song that Elena had on her playlist and had played it when they stayed here.

"Elijah-?" - a voice that sounded like Elena's now shimmered through like a cool summer's breeze.

"Elijah!" - Elena said now standing in front of the vampire, her heart pounding uncontrollably.

"Elena?" - Elijah slipped, feeling the jasmine perfume envelope him whole-"Please - let this not be another trick"
