Jennifer Patterson had no idea she was going to die that day.

She lived alone, with her cat, Jimmy, in a small apartment in New York. She was just 20 years old, just beginning her career of author. That night, like nearly every night, Jennifer was on her bed, reading her favorite book, Pride And Prejudice. Then suddenly she heard a ding! as the elevator doors opened.

Who could it be, going into their apartment so late at night? It was past 11 PM, everyone should be in bed by that time. Then she realized the mysterious person wasn't going into their apartment. They were going into her's!

Jennifer started panicking. Who was it? A theif? Jennifer put on her slippers and went to the door to see who it was. Her heart was beating at a hundred miles an hour. Then she saw the man. He was barely distinguishable, but she could see he had an object in his left hand.

A sharp object.

A knife.

The man raised his left hand, and Jennifer realized he was going to strike. She barely had time to scream before the knife pierced her heart.
