Who is he?

Cornelia grunted with frustration as she heaved out her Devifire's Pokeball. She threw it onto the ground, and her most trusted partner came out of it in a flash of light. Bruce threw his Pokeball into the air and sparks of light flew out, revealing his chosen partner.

"I'm not going easy on you," he reminded her with a smirk.

"I'm well aware! Nova, use Tail Whip!" she shouted, flicking her hand towards where she wanted her partner Pokémon to aim the attack.

The Devifire dashed towards the Platipuddle with glee, ran in a circle and wagged its tail at it. This decimated the opposing Pokémon's ability to defend itself. The Platipuddle gave its trainer a worried glance as it flinched.

"You've got this, Aurora," Bruce encouraged his Platipuddle. "Do a Bubble Beam!"

Nodding, the Platipuddle charged towards the opposing Devifire and shot a blast of high pressure, extremely bubbly water at its target. The Demon Pokemon flinched slightly and a few scratches began to surface on its body, as well as some droplets from where it had been hit by the blast of water.

Cornelia gritted her teeth, knowing full well that she didn't want what happened in the last battle to happen again. There was nothing she could do but watch. Before she could say a word in response, her partner Pokémon lunged for the Platipuddle and growled, grabbing shoots of grass from the ground with its claws. With the grass shoots, it gave the Platipuddle a barrage of scratches, weakening it more than it had been weakened by the Bubble Beam.

Groaning, Bruce stroked his temples in anguish. This battle was not going in his favour, and there was no way he could turn it around. He watched as his partner Pokémon flinched four times in a row as a result of the damage from the move the Devifire seemingly pulled out of nowhere.

"How'd you learn a—" the female began before stopping herself to focus. Bruce had something up his sleeve.

"Uh, Aurora... use Growl!" he shouted, his voice cracking as he began to lose confidence in himself.

The Platipuddle ran at the opposing Pokémon, screeching in its face to intimidate it slightly. The Devifire barely blinked and was barely frightened by this, so hissed back out of anger and annoyance. The two Pokémon both looked equally frustrated at one another and backed away before any more damage could be done.

"Alright! Here we go, Nova! We're at the home stretch! Bite Platipuddle 'til it's down!" Cornelia shouted eagerly, waving a hand towards the scratched Platipuddle.

Her Pokémon nodded and rushed for the other, gnawing into its flesh with its canine teeth. The Platipuddle flinched multiple times and gained many wounds and scratches, before collapsing onto the ground out of exhaustion and defeat.

Bruce scratched at the back of his head and groaned in annoyance, looking away from the grinning Cornelia with disdain written all over his face. He was frustrated and angry that he didn't manage to win the battle, and shouting obscene words at his rival wasn't going to do it anymore.

"Fuck you, Nellie!" He hollered at the top of his lungs, slapping his rival across the left cheek twice.

"What the hell did you do that for, dickhead?" Cornelia snapped at him, smacking him in the face. "I can take a loss, but you're such a wuss and snap when things don't go your way! Grow up, because you'll soon learn that life isn't easy. Hell, I know it better than anyone."

"Save the speeches for later!" The scruffy haired boy retorted in frustration. "How the FUCK did you win a battle that was clearly going to be my win, bitch? You clearly cut corners!"

"You never played fair, let me remind you of that," Cornelia hissed under her breath, folding her arms over her chest in aggravation. "What are you getting at, Bruce?"

Bruce gritted his teeth and grunted. "How did you win this battle, huh? You're a cheater! There's no way a Pokémon can just learn a move out of the blue like that!"

"I DIDN'T CHEAT!" she screamed at him in annoyance, clearly bothered by this. "How are you ever going to learn the sting of defeat if you go about life winning your way through everything? You're a criminal! I don't see how your Dad can respect you, because I certainly can't!"

Bruce flinched and was slightly hurt by this. "I'm not a fucken' criminal! You know nothing about me!" he shouted at her, pointing his finger in his rival's general direction.

"You steal shit all the time!" she snapped back, clearly frustrated still. "I hate you, Bruce!"

Those were the last words she said before she stormed away, and they stung a little bit

"That's not what I... I didn't mean it..." he murmured, but the words fell on deaf ears. "I want... to be friends... I'm sorry..."

...

Cornelia walked towards Charwin, allowing her Devifire to wander by her side. She was quite tired after the argument and just wished to collapse on the floor and never wake up. She closed her eyes as she walked, even though she was well aware that it was dangerous. She looked up at the sky, as it was gradually darkening around her. Walking through the nearby grass, she felt something sharp jab at her foot.

Carelessly, she looked down at it and saw a small looking Dedenne. It looked so timid and nervous. Without caring much, she flung a Pokeball at it. Another one was chucked at the mouse. It chanted its name as she grabbed another Pokeball. She was five down now, and then she threw the fifth one. The ball shook once and then another time. Finally, it shook another time and made a click sound and then a ding.

Placing the Pokémon's ball in her bag, she thought about what to name it. She saw that it was a male, so decided to name it Zeus. Zeus was the Roman god of thunder, which suited this Pokémon as it was an electric type.

"Soleilian Dedenne, the Storm Pokemon. Soleilian Dedenne gained the poison type due to the acid rain around the local area, eventually changing its appearance as well. There are myths of Soleilian Dedenne having an evolution, but only truly brave trainers find out if the rumours are true," she read from the Pokedex that chimed due to the Dedenne being caught.

She smiled at her catch and walked towards the nearby city. Cornelia giggled under her breath as she trudged through the grass. She was about to bump into someone before she swiftly looked back to apologise.

"I'm sorry about bumping into you... Connor?!"

"It's you, Nellie! I've missed you so much, mate!" The boy told her with a chuckle.

"I was so worried about you! Don't do that to me again!" She shouted at him with a smile, giving him a hug. She then noted that someone was nearby him. "Who's he? Didn't know you found yourself a rival."

"He's not really a rival," he chuckled nervously and blushed. "Anyway, this is Cleo! Cleo, this is Nellie, but only I can call her that!"

Cleo just gave her a death glare. "Piss off," was all he said, before grabbing Connor's hand away to lead him somewhere else.

"Well, buh-bye now! Stay safe!" He told her with a wave.

She smiled as he got dragged away, simply just glad that the boy was safe. She walked into Charwin and was surrounded by floods and floods of other people.
