A meeting with Cerise

Flinching, Cornelia remembered her conversation she'd had only moments ago with Sheila. Her rival had spilled so many secrets about Bruce that it almost scared the young teen to hear what else the girl needed to say. She kept on thinking back to her argument with Bruce.

How shattered he'd looked after she'd stormed away.

He wanted to be friends. And she had thrown it all away.

"Hey, Cornelia," a woman that looked as if she were in her late teens stared over her shoulder. "What's the matter, pal?"

"Fuck! Cerise!" the mahogany haired girl yelped, looking up at the teen who had previously addressed her only a moment ago.

"Yeah, that's my name. Don't wear it out, darling," the girl's face lit up into a seductive smirk. "Although, the 'fuck' was entirely unnecessary."

"Okay, what do you want from me?" She retorted with an anguished sigh. "I thought I'd told you to leave me alone years ago, so what's your deal?"

Cerise just twirled her locks of pink hair and locked her green eyes to Cornelia. "I just wanted to say hello," she frowned, looking down at the other teen through tortoise spectacles. "Although, now that you mention it... wouldn't it be nice to have a Pokémon battle with yours truly?  Let's just say I'm related to dear little Wattle. In some way, at least."

"How are you even related to Wattle in the first place?" snapped Cornelia, glaring at the other girl.

"She wants to forget about me," she smirked, twirling her hair around her left index finger. "I know she does."

"But are you really related?" The mahogany haired girl wondered aloud.

"Save the questions for later, idiot," she seethed through her teeth. "Let's have a battle that'll blow you to bits."

...

After making the mistake of agreeing to the other girl's proposition, Cornelia held out the Pokeball that contained her Sirenade with pride. She wanted to know exactly what the Pokémon was capable of, even if it were to kill her in the end. With an underarm throw and a flash of light, her Sirenade appeared to burst out of its enclosure and onto the patch of grass that was to be their battlefield.

Grunting, Cerise flung a small Pokeball up into the air and a puff of smoke exuded from it, revealing a plume of light and then a ginormous, more intimidating Pokémon than the mahogany haired girl had ever seen in her thirteen years of life. Growling at its opponent, the bigger Pokémon growled with increasing loudness at the sight of its tiny opposition. Smirking, Cerise waited for her rival to make her next move.

"Okay, that's a little much," Cornelia muttered to herself. "Right. Uh, Cupid? Hit whatever that thing is with a Light Pool!"

The girl's Pokémon nodded at the welcome instruction, rushing towards the bigger Pokémon whilst filling itself with a bright light. Closing its eyes, the Sirenade focused all its energy into creating a beautiful flash of bright light. Its opponent only flinched and looked out of the way of the light.

"Huh, okay," Cerise stated and gave her Pokemon a small stroke on the head. "Jaune, Mass Intimidation!"

The giant Pokémon lunged at the smaller one and grunted in order to intimidate it. Moving back slightly, the giant Pokémon shot a bunch of black energy at the smaller Pokémon. On the Sirenade, a load of bruises and scratches welled up on the Pokémon. Growling, the smaller Pokémon leaped towards the larger Pokémon and got blown off almost immediately. Shutting its left eye, the Sirenade tried to take in the next burst of dark energy from the larger Pokémon. Barely ducking under to avoid it, the Sirenade took it in with full force, fainting from the pain.

"Fuck..." Cornelia muttered under her breath. "Zeus, your time to shine!" She lifted her left hand in the air and tossed the blue Pokeball containing her Dedenne through the air. "Use Electroball!"

Nodding, the tiny Dedenne leaped into the air and charged electricity within its cheeks. Glaring at its larger opponent, the Pokémon shot out sparks of electricity from the pockets in its red cheeks. The yellow bursts of lightning created a ball, rushing towards the giant opponent with increased momentum. The bigger Pokémon shifted a tad and flinched slightly, taking in the full force of the electrical energy that came from the Dedenne's cheek. The giant Pokémon fell backwards into the ground and yelled.

"You've got to be kidding me. You can't possibly be that good," Cerise muttered under her breath. Her Pokémon was four times weak to the electric type. She held up her right hand, which held a glowing grey Pokeball. "Rouge, come on out and use Cross Poison!"

A grey and blue emu-like Pokèmon appeared out of the girl's Pokeball, rushing towards the Dedenne. Slashing its claws in a cross shape, it created a small burst of poison that was to damage its opponent. However, the Dedenne ducked slightly and dodged it.

Cornelia laughed scornfully under her breath at the pathetic attack that the other girl gave towards her Pokemon. She watched as the opposing Pokémon attempted to attack again with the same cross shape of poison, but was yet again shut down by the opposing Dedenne. The Dedenne looked to its trainer before becoming enclosed in a white light.

Fully assimilated within the burst of light, its whiskers grew longer and its eyes became bigger and more slanted. The eyes became a brown in colour and its body shaped widened. Its tail grew out and gained five pointed spikes on the edges. Its belly turned a dark purple in colour.

"So this is the famed evolution of Soleilian Dedenne, eh?" Cornelia mused with a small smile crossing her face. "Zeus, give him a hit of Static!"

The Electravix nodded and rushed at its now smaller opponent. Leaping into the air, the Pokémon turned its back to its opposition. Its tail flicked out and lit up with a big ball of electricity that it swept at its smaller enemy opposition. The opposing Pokémon welled up with scratches and eventually fell to the floor in pain.

"Are you serious? Rouge, return," Cerise addressed her Pokémon, withdrawing it into its enclosure. "Vert, come on out! Give it a hit of Razor Leaf!"

"Right... so you want to do this kind of a thing now?" The mahogany haired girl queried. "Alright, two can play at that game. Nova, give it a shot of Incinerate!"

Both Pokémon appeared from Pokeballs that were somewhat haphazardly thrown into the open air. Out of Cerise's Pokeball came a medium sized green and white bird Pokémon came out, small blades of grass coming out of its back. From one of these branch blades came a barrage of leaves. A couple of these leaves hit the Deviflame, who had been artfully dodging the leaves that the Pokémon had sent out. Out of its mouth came a big ball of fire that the Devoflame artfully made sure landed right in its opponent's chest, who had already been burnt from simply touching the Deviflame. The bird Pokémon fell back on the ground and whined.

"Merci beaucoup, I guess," Cerise muttered. She threw her hands over her chest in a dramatic manner. "I deserve an award for my performance in the first third of the battle, non? Anyway, what's the matter? You looked a little down earlier."

"Me, eh? Nah, you must be confusing me with someone else," Cornelia grunted, grimacing at the teen.

"No, you were definitely looking down before. I know what you're like." The pink haired girl sighed, looking down at the teen. She was adjusting her shoelaces on the grass below. "You don't adjust your shoelaces or sit down unless you're not feeling your best."

The mahogany haired teen gritted her teeth. "Don't tell anyone about this or I'll kill you," she told the other girl. "I really want to apologise."

"To whom?"

"My rival. You know, the criminal that's the son of Sebastian?" Cornelia reminded the girl.

"Oh, you mean Bruce?" The pink haired girl mused, cocking her head to the side. "Oui, his mum suicided."

"I know, and I had this huge argument with him. I told him I hated him," sighed the mahogany haired girl. "I don't hate anyone."

"So, you want to apologise to him? What are you waiting for, mon amie? Go talk to him!" Cerise encouraged, pushing the girl away from her.

"Electravix, the storm Pokémon. Electravix were once considered to be myths but were proven—"

"Nellie, hurry! Allées à la plage!" Cerise joked.
