- The future of the vampire race is uncertain now that is destroyed. As seen in Growing Pains, when in transition, the vampire's soul is on the Other Side until he or she drinks blood and completes the transition. With the Other Side gone, it might dramatically affect the vampire race forever. As of Black Hole Sun, there seems to be no adverse effects to newly made vampires, proven by Ivy being made by Enzo. However, where the neophyte vampire's soul now resides during their transition has yet to be discovered.

- Originally, Vampires were suppose to turn to dust when staked through the heart instead of leaving a body behind. This was originally intended to happen in Haunted. In the original script, when Vicki gets staked you see her disappear into dust. But in the re-shot scene that aired, Stefan pulls the stake out and Damon takes her corpse away.

- Vampires are the most killed-off species in either series. As of Season Seven of TVD and Season Three of TO, 93 known vampires have been introduced ("known" meaning those with names or who have been counted in tallies, such as the tomb vampires) and 72 of them have died or been killed.

- Elena's enhanced Ripper compound was made with werewolf venom. This makes Elena the first person to be cured of werewolf venom without the use of Klaus' blood.
