The Principal

MADISYN was leaving the cell when she met with Moseley.

"Madisyn right?", he asked and she nodded. "There's just been an accident not far from here. Let's go.", he said and started to leave but she was confused was she going to ride with him?

"C'mon we don't have time to waste.", he said when he noticed she hadn't responded and then she moved. She then thought she could use this as a way to talk to him about Robin.

Obviously Robin didn't have the money to bail himself out and more so a way to leave jail.

"Um Sheriff Moseley.", she started.

"Yes."

"You seem like you're the kind of person who is very strict, loves to follow rules and do things how they're supposed to be done. And yes what Robin did was wrong. He shouldn't have arrested Miles without evidence but if you could see it from his side.", she paused when she saw wreckage up ahead. She had to finish up.

"I know this might be too much to ask but if you could consider releasing Robin. You can ban him from police duties or strip his badge, I'm sure that's a better way to approach this but please release him. He just lost the love of his life.", she said and the car came to stop.

Before she could get out he spoke.

"Love and work are two things that shouldn't meet, especially in our type of work. He deserves to learn a lesson. That's what arresting people is for. Putting them in jail for some time so they reflect on their actions or more so, crimes.", he said and was about to get down but paused.

"That advice about love and work also applies to you.", he said and left but she knew he was talking about her and Ian.

As she got down she thought, could it really work out between her and Ian even as they were detectives? She went to meet up with the men that were already checking the car.

She went towards one of them.

"So what happened here?", she asked.

"It was an accident. The bus driver and some students admitted that the lady was coming at full speed.",

"The lady?", she asked.

"Yes, Lisa Nether.", the man said. Madisyn knew Lisa to be the best friend of the deceased Sarah.

"But.", the man continued. "We noticed the brakes were faulty. And when we checked it looked like the brakes had been tampered with.", the man said.

For Madisyn that said it all. This was the murderer. There was nothing more she could find here. So she thanked the man and went to call Ian.

"Hey, Ian are you done at the lab."

"Yeah no. I'm persuading them so I can get the results today. Why?", he asked.

"It's just there was an accident and I need to go to the victim's house.", she said and then she saw Josh in his car being stopped by a police officer.

"Oh okay. I'll come pick you...",

"No don't worry. Thanks though.", she said and hung up. She headed over to Josh.

"Maddie. What's wrong? This guy's not telling me anything.", he said. She gestured for the policeman to leave which he did.

"There's just been a car accident."

"Really. Who?", he asked.

"Lisa.", she said.

"Woah! How did it happen? Is she going to be fine?", he asked.

"Um, I don't know. But hey can you give me a ride to Lisa's house?", she asked.

"Why?"

"It's just there's no clue here and I'm thinking of searching her house, if there' anything I can find.", she said.

"But you don't have a warrant. And wasn't it just a car accident?", he asked.

She wondered why he was suddenly questioning her.

"You know it's fine if you don't wanna drop me off. I'll find my way.", she said and made to leave but he called her back.

"Get in I'll take you.", he said and she entered.

The ride was silent and when they arrived she thanked him.

"Sorry I was being... It's just first Sarah then Ana and now Lisa. It's becoming too much. And it's only ladies. In fact, I'm coming with you."

"No.", she objected. If Ian were to come she wouldn't want to be with both of them when they're eating each other's heads.

"I'm just saying for protection.", he said.

"Please. I can take care of myself remember.", she said and showed him the gun stocked near her belt.

He sighed. "Fine. Take care and be careful. I know you're trained and I'm a civilian but that's an order.", he said and they both smiled at each other before he left.

She saw the two houses. Both identical. She didn't know what fate Lisa was in but she hoped it wouldn't be the same as her neighbour and best friend, Sarah.

At first the door was locked but she checked around and like most people, Lisa kept a spare key in a flower pot on the porch which Madisyn found. She unlocked the door stepped in. The living room looked normal. She checked the backyard, kitchen and nothing. She went in and went to her room and it was a total mess.

Did Lisa do this? No. Who in their right senses would turn their bedroom upside down? It could have been the murderer, she thought and she immediately became alert.

The person might come back. She put her hand over her gun just in case. She walked around the room and found a photo frame with its face down. She raised it and it was a picture of Sarah, Lisa and another girl.

She remembered the girl was the one Ana saw at the diner. Ana had said that she acted like the weight of the world was on her shoulders. Was she depressed?

She kept it down and continued searching for anything that could be a clue. She was about to leave when she saw a small piece of paper. Was it meant for Lisa?

She took it and opened it. There was a picture with a note. It was a picture of Lisa kissing someone in her car.

There was something written on the paper.

"Stop trying. Just stop 'cause you'll never find me and when you do. I'll make sure you're dead.", it read.

This was a threat and from the way it was folded, it looked like Lisa didn't open it. Or maybe she didn't find it.

She had to find something. But she knew Sidney was related to this. So she thought. First, she would go to the hospital to check on Lisa and then she would give Sidney Callister a long overdue visit.

"Pablo there's something I have to tell you. I have found who the person is and I can't tell you in a voicemail in case the person hears it.", the first voice message said.

"Pablo I don't know why you're not answering your calls. It's really important. I read the diary and even if the person tore some pages I was able to piece two and two.", the second.

"Pablo I'm headed to the station. I don't trust anyone else but you that's why I'm telling only you. Come to the station and by then you'll know everything. Please be careful and I...I... I lo... Just take care and get here as soon as you can.", the last message said.

He was seated at the hospital waiting. Miles was standing some distance near the door. The door the doctor would walk out from and give them whatever news awaits.

When the hospital had called him to inform him that Lisa was in an accident. He had frozen. Then on his way, he saw her messages and he has been listening to them ever since, on repeat.

She had found out. And he was in his room with his phone on silent, thinking of what Raven said. How stupid was he? If he had answered her calls. He would have known by now. He might have told her to calm down and if she was she wouldn't have sped into the bus.

He played the message again. If he could listen maybe just maybe he could get something out of it. Why had he listened to Raven? He should have gone when Lisa called him. He didn't even know what Raven went to talk about with Lisa.

This was all because of a kiss. If he had controlled himself, held back. He and Lisa wouldn't be in this position.

He looked up when he saw Hugh coming in. He looked tired. They both looked at each other but neither said a word.

"What's the situation Miles?", he asked disregarding Pablo who went back to listening to the messages.

"It was a car accident. All I know is she was in very bad shape when she came in and she's lost a lot of blood.", he said.

Hugh sighed. He looked very pissed. Then he turned to Pablo.

"This is all your fault.", he said and Pablo stood.

"Me? How is this my fault?", he asked feeling a little bit angry.

"If you had just stayed away from her while I was gone she wouldn't have..."

"Are you hearing yourself right now? It was an accident an...",

"I personally don't think it was.", they all heard and turned to see Madisyn. "I'm Madisyn, the detective. I don't think we've met properly.", she said extending her hand to Pablo who shook it. She recognised him as the person Lisa was kissing in the picture she found earlier

"Pablo Louis.", he said.

She nodded at Miles who nodded back but came closer.

"What makes you think it wasn't?", Miles asked.

"I'm just coming from Lisa's house.", she said and brought out the paper she found and gave it to Pablo.

He opened it and they all saw the picture. He turned it and looked at the note.

"I found that there. It was also discovered that the brakes of Lisa's car were tampered with. Obviously someone did this and I'm sure you guys know that it's the murderer.", she said.

"I think I know who it is. Well, she knows who the murderer is.", Pablo said.

"Who is it?", Miles asked.

"Sidney Callister."

"Really! Funny how I was gonna head to her place.", Madisyn said.

"Yeah, I and Lisa overheard her one time and it was obvious she was talking to whoever the murderer was.", Pablo said.

"And when was that?"? Hugh asked rudely.

"When you had left.", Pablo fired back.

"Can you guys just put that behind you? Like for heaven's sake, Lisa was just in an accident and we don't know if she'll make it out alive.", Miles said.

"She will.", Hugh muttered.

"I'm just saying. If any of you really cared about her you would get your shit together and see how we can find this person.", Miles said.

They were all quiet for a while and then the doctor came. They turned.

"So how she?"

"Is she alright?"

"What's her condition.", the three of them asked at the same time and Madisyn gave a small smile at their obvious concern for their friend.

The doctor sighed heavily as they waited with bated breath for what he had to say.

"She's still alive.", he said and they all sighed in relief. "But she's fallen into a coma. The accident damaged her organs. We were able to stabilise them and we just hope she starts responding to treatment. As for her coma we can't say when she'll be out of it and all you can do is just hope.", he said and they were all quiet.

"Coma? So that's like a deep sleep right?", Miles asked.

"Yes, you can say that."

"Then she'll wake up. She has to.", Miles said, more to himself.

"Can we at least see her?", Pablo asked.

"Yes. You can talk to her. It's said that people in coma sometimes hear and feel but just don't know how to respond yet.", the doctor said. Then he excused himself and left.

"Well I'll be off to the school to bring Sidney in for interrogation.", she said.

"Thanks.", they all muttered. She decided to collect all their numbers in case she would need anything from any of them and then she left.

Pablo looked at Hugh. Did he want to see her first? But Hugh nodded for Pablo to go and then gestured to make his thoughts clear.

Pablo walked in and gasped when he saw her. There were tubes connected to most of her body. There was a mask over her nose. Her head was bandaged and her hair was splayed around her head.

As he got closer he noticed her face was pale, very pale. He sat and held her hand. It was a bit cold and he didn't get the normal warmth he usually got whenever he held her hand.

It took all of him not to cry as he held himself together.

"We're gonna find who did this to you. I promise. And that person's gonna rot in jail.", he leaned over and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"I... love you too.", he said and rested his forehead on hers.

Oh my such a touching moment for Pablo. I was gonna add some more scene but I saw how long this chapter was gonna be and this seemed like a good way to end a chapter so I left it here. The next chapter is gonna be...let me not give spoiler cause I hate them. Till next time and we are finally reaching the end.
