Chapter 10 Words speak louder than Action Part 2
Jin, Jamie, Nari, Ashley, and Luigi all stood there in the fog.
Jamie absorbed all the fog into his sword to see all the bodies scattered in the field. None remained except Hwan, who had guarded himself with his artifact.
"Give up or die!" They all shouted.
"I surrender!" Hwan yelled.
His artifact sprang to life with a subtle movement of his hand, dragging Luigi towards him and gripping his throat. He squeezed the life out of him and a flame came from his hand.
The Earli artifact fell from his neck as he burnt to ashes. Hwan acquired the second artifact through the death of Luigi.
"Nobody else has to die today," he said.
His ears grew, and his eyes turned red while the artifacts merged. Jin and Jamie rushed towards him with an attack that was easily deflected. He cut down Jamie, who lay helpless. Jin tried to intervene, but the eye saw through his attack and countered with the light that blew him away.
Nari and Ashley combined an attack that bore no results.
"To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.
All a person's ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. The Lord works out everything to its proper end even the wicked for a day of disaster. The Lord detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided. When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone's way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them.
Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice. In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth does not betray justice.
Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord; all the weights in the bag are of his making. Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness. Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value the one who speaks what is right.
A king's wrath is a messenger of death, but the wise will appease it. When a king's face brightens, it means life; his favor is like a rain cloud in spring. How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver! The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives.
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. Prudence is a fountain of life to the prudent, but folly brings punishment to fools. The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent, and their lips promote instruction.
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death. The appetite of laborers works for them; their hunger drives them on. A scoundrel plots evil, and on their lips, it is like a scorching fire.
A perverse person stirs up conflict, and gossip separates close friends. A violent person entices their neighbor and leads them down a path that is not good. Whoever winks with their eye is plotting perversity; whoever purses their lips is bent on evil. Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness. Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord." They recited.
It did minor damage to him. He had spawned more monsters.
They all screamed in panic and pain. My parents cried and tried to wake me up.
Their tears fell on my face and I regained consciousness.
"Prove 17: 1-28 Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife. A prudent servant will rule over a disgraceful son and will share the inheritance as one of the family. The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart. A wicked person listens to deceitful lips; a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue. Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished. Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.
Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool how much worse lying lips to a ruler! A bribe is seen as a charm by the one who gives it; they think success will come at every turn. Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends. A rebuke impresses a discerning person more than a hundred lashes a fool.
Evildoers foster rebellion against God; the messenger of death will be sent against them. Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool bent on folly. Evil will never leave the house of one who pays back evil for good. Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent the Lord detests them both.
Why should fools have money in hand to buy wisdom, when they are not able to understand it? A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity. One who has no sense shakes hands in pledge and puts up security for a neighbor. Whoever loves a quarrel loves sin; whoever builds a high gate invites destruction. One whose heart is corrupt does not prosper; one whose tongue is perverse falls into trouble. To have a fool for a child brings grief; there is no joy for the parent of a godless fool.
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. The wicked accept bribes in secret to pervert the course of justice. A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool's eyes wander to the ends of the earth. A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the mother who bore him. If imposing a fine on the innocent is not good, surely to flog honest officials is not right. The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered.
Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues." I recited.
My words destroyed both his arms. He used his power to damage my one leg but I limped forward. He cut down the other leg as well and all of us were flat on the ground with no chance of winning.
"I will not lose this battle," I said.
My whole body glowed again.
"The stars may shine
and the full moon too,
but there is one shine that outshines them all and it is you my superstar"
These words poured down with the rain from heaven and fell upon Hwan. He melted right before my eyes. It was an acid rain that formed with the words.
His body washed away and all that was left were two artifacts.
The rain healed everyone that were with me in the battle.
We all got up and and held each other in a group hug.
Rays of sunshine shone through the clouds and a rainbow adorned the sky above us.
"Let us all go home," I said.
Upon arriving back at the village all the people awaited us and all bowed in respect for the last time and we responded in kind.
"Seulgi!" The crowd cheered.
Luigi held my hands and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"He who has ears let him hear. I love you Seulgi Kang and hope to see you soon in New York," he exclaimed.
"I love you too and thank you for everything you did for us," I replied.
Nari arrived with the vehicle to take us back to the private jet while Jamie argued with Jin about who had the best moves in the battle. We left the village and drove through Seoul. Nari handed us our cellphones.
"I thought we lost our cellphones," Ashley said.
"I kept them safe for you guys. Your pictures and lives are on those," she said while laughing.
We had arrived at the airport with our luggage already there and boarded the jet. We all hugged Nari the Lily of the valley. Jamie held on a bit longer and she pushed him towards the stairs. It was first class seating with white seats and a flight attended that served champagne at the door. We strapped in ready to leave South Korea and return to New York.
"Welcome to flight ONC 2024," the intercom relayed the message.
"Lets us pray before we depart," I said.
"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable. Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel; remove wicked officials from the king's presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.
Do not exalt yourself in the king's presence, and do not claim a place among his great men; it is better for him to say to you, come up here, than for him to humiliate you before his nobles. What you have seen with your eyes do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame? If you take your neighbor to court, do not betray another's confidence, or the one who hears it may shame you and the charge against you will stand. Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given.
Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear. Like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to the one who sends him; he refreshes the spirit of his master. Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of gifts never given. Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone. If you find honey, eat just enough too much of it, and you will vomit.
Seldom set foot in your neighbor's house too much of you, and they will hate you. Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is one who gives false testimony against a neighbor. Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble. Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on a wound, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you. Like a north wind that brings unexpected rain is a sly tongue—which provokes a horrified look. Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land. Like a muddied spring or a polluted well are the righteous who give way to the wicked. It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to search out matters that are too deep. Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control," I prayed.
"Amen!"
"We will begin lift off now make sure your seatbelts are fastened and enjoy the flight," the intercom said.
The flight took off without any problems and I fell asleep to the sound of soothing music playing.
"Mayday! Mayday! We have encountered a problem with one of the engines and will need to make an emergency landing in Canada" the intercom said.
The jet went dark.
"Guess we not going home just yet," I said.
