Harry's POV

"The Sorting Hat, if you will, Professor McGonagall..." Dumbledore said. The professor swished up to the stool in the center of the platform of the Hall and placed there the old, patched up hat. The Hall fell entirely silent, as the Hat opened up its brim, and began to sing its opening song...

A thousand years or more ago,

When I was newly sewn,

There lived four wizards of renown,

Whose name are still well-known:

Bold Gryffindor from wild moor,

Fair Ravenclaw from glen,

Sweet Hufflepuff from valley broad,

Shrewd Slytherin from fen.

They share a wish, a hope, a dream,

They hatched a daring plan,

To educate young sorcerers,

Thus Hogwarts school began.

Now each of these four founders

Formed their own house, for each

Did value different virtues,

In the ones they had to teach.

By Gryffindor, the bravest were

Prized far beyond the rest;

For Ravenclaw, the cleverest

Would always be the best;

For Hufflepuff, hardworkers were

Most worthy of admission;

And power-hungry Slytherin

Loved those of great ambition.

While still alive they did divide

Their favorites from the throng,

Yet how to pick the worthy ones

When they were dead and gone?

'Twas Gryffindor who found the way,

He whipped me off his head

The founders put some brains in me

So I could choose instead!

Now slip me snug around your ears,

I've never yet been wrong,

I'll have a look inside your mind

And tell where you belong!

Harry and all the other students, including the new arrivals, clapped politely as the Sorting Hat finished its song. He noticed some of the new students were staring, apprehensive, at the now dormant Sorting Hat. Obviously, they hadn't come from wizarding families, Harry thought. Perhaps they're Muggle-borns? That would explain their understanding of magic, but their apparent lack of knowledge about it. "On with the Sorting!" Dumbledore declared, sitting down in his chair once more. "When I call your name, you may come up and sit on the stool." Professor McGonagall said, loudly, to the nervous newcomers. "The first group to be Sorted shall be the demigods from Camp Half Blood." She declared, unravelling her yellowed parchment scroll.

"De Angelo, Nico!"

The students craned their necks to see a dark haired boy step out of the shadows from the back of the group. His hair falling in front of his sallow face, he trudged up to the stool and sat down. The hat had barely brushed his head before it yelled: "SLYTHERIN!" The boy jerked at the sudden voice, almost falling off the stool, before he seemed to collect himself and he walked over to the table that was cheering loudest—which was the only table cheering, unsurprisingly. The boy swept his eyes over the other groups of students. Harry shivered. Not many people scared him, but that Nico De Angelo sent chills through him when he looked at him, and he wasn't even glaring... Harry shook his foreboding feeling off and continued to pay his attention to the next candidate.

"Chase, Annabeth!"

The blonde haired girl he had noticed earlier strode up to the stool and hesitantly sat down. This time, the hat mused aloud before it made its decision. "Oooh, clever, very wise, a daughter of wisdom, this one is!" Harry was confused. Daughter of wisdom? The Hat continued. "Because of that, that would make you automatically Ravenclaw. Although...you have much bravery for your age, surviving the depths of Tartarus?! Quite brave, indeed, which obviously deems you...GRYFFINDOR!"

Harry, along with all the others at his table, cheered and stamped his feet. The girl named Annabeth smiled nervously at the loud welcome and came over to his group. "Mind if I sit here?" She asked, her voice a little hopeful. "Of course!" Hermione smiled warmly at her, then scooted over to make room. Annabeth smiled back at each of then in turn, visibly relaxing. She turned, along with the trio, to look at the next to be student.

"Grace, Jason!"

The girls in the school visibly swooned as a blonde haired, blue eyed boy came up to the stool from his place beside the choppy haired girl with the mysterious eyes. Harry stifled a laugh as he saw Lavender Brown, who had been seated across from him and had been staring at the new boy with adoration in her eyes, shrink under a death glare the choppy haired girl gave her. The boy had just sat down and the hat brushed over his head before it yelled: "GRYFFINDOR!" Harry, Annabeth, and Ron and Hermione and the House of Gryffindor cheered as he came and sat down beside Annabeth. She grinned and gave him a fist bump.

"Jackson, Percy!"

Harry had been mistaken. ALL of the girls swooned over this newcomer, who looked mightily uncomfortable with all the attention. He saw the boy quickly sit down and McGonagall place the hat over his eyes. "Hmmm, you are a tricky one, Perseus Jackson. Loyalty is your fatal flaw, which is the trait seen amongst the Hufflepuffs, yet...Oh, THAT'S why, aha!" Harry saw Percy visibly stiffen, but he couldn't sense why. "Well, those are quite a few noble feats, so I will most definitely place you in GRYFFINDOR!"

Harry's table cheered again and Harry saw Percy relax greatly, then come bounding over to their group, sit next to Annabeth, and place a kiss on her cheek. Harry swore he saw Annabeth visibly smirk as she sensed all of the school's girls sighing in heavy disappointment.

"Levesque, Hazel!"

A cinnamon haired, dark skinned girl came up and bounded over to the stool and sat down. "Ah, clever, I see! Hm...a hard decision, you seem to have every trait of all Houses!" Everyone was surprised at this. There had never been a student with all the traits before. "However, because of your undoubted loyalty to your own, and your devious way of behavior towards those you despise...I say SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherin table cheered once more as the girl's shoulders sagged a little, but she rose from the stool and confidently walked over to sit beside the boy called Nico. Harry sensed a connection between them, strange. Maybe they were siblings? — No, they looked nothing alike...oh well.

"McLean, Piper!"

The choppy haired girl rose and gracefully walked over to the Sorting Hat and plopped down on the seat. The Hat was placed on her head. "Oh, this one has loyalty. I'm sorry about your wishes to be in Gryffindor, but your loyalty towards those you love decidedly places you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

The Hufflepuff table cheered for the first time, whooping as the admittedly pretty girl walked over and sat down, casting an apologetic look at the boy Harry heard was named Jason. Harry saw him smile gently at her and take hold of her hand across the pathway between the two tables. Awww...

"Valdez, Leo!"

A curly haired, short boy swaggered up to the stool, an impish look on his face. The Hat mused atop his head. "Ah yes, a desire to prove yourself...very clever, good with machines, not so much with people...I recognize you as a RAVENCLAW!"

The Ravenclaws cheered, happy to finally get a student. The boy grinned, then practically ran over to the table, sitting at a clear spot. Harry saw him immediately take something out of his pocket and begin to tinker with it.

"Zhang, Frank!"

Goodness, could that guy get any buffer?! A tall, almost bull-like boy clumsily stumbled over to the stool and sat down. The Hat immediately declared: "GRYFFINDOR!"

The Gryffindor table cheered again, ecstatic to have gotten so many new students. Harry smiled at him as he came to sit down next to Jason, Annabeth, and Percy and himself. "Congrats, man," Harry heard Percy whisper as he gave a thumbs up toward Frank. "Welcome to Hogwarts, all of you." Dumbledore smiled kindly at the new students. "And now for the second group of students, the mages of the guild Fairy Tail!" Professor McGonagall announced, picking up a second, longer scroll and putting down the first as the group of mages came up to the front silently. Harry glanced at the large group of people and sighed. This will take a while... He thought, his stomach rumbling in protest.

The professor unraveled the new scroll and called the first name...
