Chapter Six: You Can Keep Your Damn Money!

Stella

"Let's just split up and search. Edward couldn't have gotten far, we can use the walkie-talkie app on our Apple Watches to communicate."

"Yeah, sure." Ella looked worried.

"We got this, Ella," I reassured her.

She nodded. We left the nursery, and I closed the door behind us.

I checked all the hallways. I didn't find Edward.

I talked into my Apple Watch. "Any luck, Ella?"

"No, what about you?" She responded.

"Nope. I'm going to check the kitchen real quick. I'll let you know if I find him."

"Alright."

I opened the door to the kitchen to see a lady with light brown skin, dark brown eyes, and dark brown curly hair.

Mindy was holding Prince Edward.

"Oh, thank God. You found him!" I walked to her.

Mindy handed me, Prince Edward.

"You got lucky that I found him." She said sternly.

"I know. Thanks again." This was embarrassing, our only job was to watch Edward, and we lost him.

"Ella, I found him," I spoke into my Apple Watch.

"Where was he?"

"Mindy found him. I guess she brought him to the kitchen." I said this, and Mindy nodded.

"Good. Meet me back at the nursery."

"I will. See you soon."

I was about to walk away, but I stopped. "What do I tell Lady Dawn?"

Mindy shook her head. "No need to worry Queen Dawn about that little incident. Just don't let it happen again."

"I won't." I waved goodbye and headed back to Edward's nursery.

Mom took us home. We helped her cook some Gumbo. It had cut up sausage and shrimp. We ate it with rice.

Once it was ready, we sat down at the table together.

"So, how was your day, Mom?" Ella asked.

"It was pretty good. What about you two? How did watching Edward go?"

Ella and I looked at each other and grinned.

"Did we tell you how we lost Edward?" I mentioned.

"No, did you find him, though?" She replied.

"Yes, actually, Mindy found him. She took him to the kitchen." I answered.

"Well, that's all that matters. As long as Edward was found." She sighed.

Toby

I was sitting in my office when Carlos walked in.

He bowed. "Sorry to bother you my, Lord, but this is a letter from the vampire King." He said, handing me the letter.

"Thank you."

He left the room.

It's been a few days since I sent the letter. It wasn't a fast reply, but better late than never. I opened the letter and read it.

Dear Dragon King,
I'm at war with the Wolves, and you think my priority is about a witch? Hell no! You can keep your Damn money! Cause I don't need it.
~Fortis.

Angry, I crumbled the letter up and threw it across the room.

Maybe I should leave it alone. Sasha isn't a threat anymore. Unless she decides to come back, I doubt she will, though. She doesn't have her powers.

Nicki

A few months later, Queen Dawn and King Toby invited Stella, Ella, and I to dinner. So we all had to dress up and look presentable. After all, we are dining with the King and Queen. I was ready, but Stella and Ella were nowhere to be found.

"Stella! Ella! We gotta go!" I rushed them.

"Coming, Mom, give a girl a few minutes," Stella said from her room.

I looked in the mirror. I let my straight brown hair down. I wore a black dress with white heels and white rose-shaped earrings. I put on foundation and red lipstick.

A few minutes later, Stella and Ella walked out of their rooms and into the living room.

Stella had her hair in a high ponytail. She wore a blue dress, black heels, and blue star-shaped earrings. She had foundation on, black eyeliner on and blue eye shadow on.

Ella had her hair down; she curled it. It was a nice wavy curl; she wore a red dress, black heels, and red star-shaped earrings. She had foundation on, black eyeliner and red eye shadow on.

We all had the same features, straight brown hair, blue eyes.

"I've never seen you wear a dress before, Mom. You look so pretty." Ella complimented.

I smiled. "Thank you. You girls look beautiful too. Ready?"

They nodded. Dawn sent a carriage to come pick us up. When we left the cottage, the carriage was waiting for us.

We all sat in the dining room. They even had Edward in a high chair. He's so adorable.

"Thanks for coming, guys." Queen Dawn said.

"Thanks for inviting us," I replied.

She nodded. "You all look great tonight. I feel that we should do more dinners like this."

"I agree."

"Queen Dawn, anytime you want to invite us for dinner, we're down," Stella said as she shoved spaghetti into her mouth.

"Will do." Dawn laughed.

Soon we finished eating dinner.

"Stella, Ella, why don't you guys take Prince Edward back to his room. Then meet us back in the dining room." Queen Dawn suggested.

Ella picked up Edward, and the three of them left the room.

Dawn checked the hallway. "Alright, they're gone. Let's plan a surprise party for Stella and Ella here at the castle. I know their sixteenth birthdays are coming up."

"What a great idea Queen Dawn; I'm sure they'll love that," I told her.

"I'll get the castle event planner to meet with you, Dawn. One sweet sixteen party coming right up." King Toby said.

"Thank you, my love. Nicki, would you like to join me in party planning?"

"Yes, I would love to."

A week later, I took my daughters to the castle; this day was different. Today they wouldn't be watching Edward or training.

They wouldn't be working at all because it's their birthday. Today is about them. The party was a six, and it was two. Would they need four hours to get ready? Maybe, maybe not. But you never know.

"These ladies will take care of you and get you looking nice," I told my daughters.

"Looking nice for what?" Ella asked.

"It's your birthday; you can look nice on your birthday," I said vaguely. I didn't want to ruin the surprise of their birthday party. Ella just narrowed her eyes in response. "Okay, bye. Have fun!"

I hurried off and went to find Queen Dawn. We still had some last-minute planning details to check.

Stella

"Hey, can you tell us what's going on?" I asked one of the maids. They were giving us manicures and pedicures.

They said nothing.

"I'll give ten dollars to anyone who tells us what's happening?" Ella offered.

"Why don't you sit back and relax? You're getting pampered; enjoy it." Mindy suggested as she stalked into the room.

Her brown eyes met my blue ones.

"No way, we're naturally curious. What's going on, Mindy?"

"I don't know." She lied.

"You're lying." I narrowed my eyes at her and called her bluff. "You know exactly what's going on."

"Even if I did know, why would I tell you?"

"Good point," Ella said.

"Enjoy it, guys." She said as she walked out of the room.

"I don't know about you, Stella, but I'm taking her advice."

"Yeah." I agreed.

Tonight's going to be fun.
