4 years later (2005-age 25)

Lin sighed, putting the pen down after writing for....3 hours? Jesus, he's just like me.

"What were you writing, anyways?" I asked.

"A play."

It was the night of the performance of Lin's play, In The Heights. I told him that it wouldn't be popular, yet here we are.

I mostly recognize his family, as well as a familiar girl and her ghost.

"You invited Vanessa?" I asked. Lin nodded. "Why?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, I guess I just wanted her to watch my show? And get to know her more? I don't know."

"He does." I heard Aaron mutter from behind me, while Lin was busy with final preparations. "Destiny, really."

I turned to him. "What do you mean?"

"I remember someone at your funeral saying that everyone's life is planned." He explained. "The day you're born, everything in between, and the day you die. Someone, I don't know who, planned you to come to New York. To survive the shit they put you through. To succeed and eventually crash and burn."

I hummed. "So, someone has a plan for tonight." Aaron nodded (my fucking autocorrect corrected it to AaRoN, wtf). "Do you know what?"

Aaron shrugged. "He's 25, yes?" I nodded. "Maybe, they're planning for a spark to form."

"Oh hell no." I said. "Imagine! Our reincarnates falling in love, and we having to spend the rest of their lives together! Psh, like that'd ever happen."

"You never know, Alexander." He said, walking back to Vanessa. "Maybe everything you say now will contradict itself in the near future."

"The fuck is that supposed to mean!?" I asked. But it was too late, he was already gone.

Vanessa approached Lin after the show.

"Lin?" She asked. He turned his attention to her. "Oh my god, it's been so long!"

"I know!" He chuckled, putting his hat up. "How ya been?"

"Great, you?"
"Also great."

They small talked for a little while. Now, I've seen Lin experience crushes and girlfriends before, but this? I saw something. It was slight, but it was there. It was a barely visible ray of light emitting from the two hearts, connected in the middle. That's a first.

"Soulmates." I heard her say. "I've seen this only once before, with you and Elizabeth."

I turned to see my mother. She looked exactly like she did when she died, but she didnt look sickly. No, she looked healthy. I felt myself tear up. Or at least, the feeling of tearing up. You can't cry when you dont have tear ducts.

"M-momma?" I muttered. "Is it really you?" She smiled and nodded. I immediatly ran up to her and engulfed her into a bone crushing hug. "Ive missed you....so so much, momma."

She shushed me. "I know baby, I know."

"I didnt think id ever see you again."
"I know."
"H-how are you here?"

She smiled. "Same reason as you. My reincarnate is here."

"Will I ever see you again?"

She frowned. "I doubt it."

I wanted to cry. I wanted to hold on to her forever. But I can't. We both have our duties, and when they have been fulfilled, we go back. Back to the empty cold void, waiting for our new reincarnate.

"Don't try to get in his way, Alexander." She said. "Fate always finds a way, and he is no exception."

I nodded as she turned to leave. "W-Wait, momma." She turned her attention to me. "Will I ever see my dear Betsy again?"

She smiled sadly. "I'm sorry, Alexander, but I cannot say. Maybe, but don't get your hopes up."

I nodded as she left. My attention turned back to Lin and Vanessa, just in time to hear Lin ask her something.

"Wanna grab a coffee sometime?" He asked. "J-just to catch up and everything?"

She smiled and nodded. "I'd like that."

Much shorter than the previous chapter, but it was just a filler, really. Next chapter will be all about Hamilton (the musical). Mostly what inspired Lin and Alex's thoughts about it.

Obviously, Alex's thoughts will be entirely fictional, unless someone could talk to him and ask him his thoughts on the play.

There's going to be a lot of familiar faces in the next chapter, as well as some anger, sadness, joy, and a few bittersweet moments.

Can you guess each of their reincarnates (Hamilton character to actor)? Obviously Aaron isn't going to be in the mix, but that doesn't mean that a couple others we've encountered are t going to be there (wink wink nudge nudge).
But do keep in mind that I'm pairing them up based on their personality/accomplishments. The only exception to that rule is Vanessa and Aaron because it was too perfect to pass up (Plus she's a lawyer, if you didn't know).

So with that in mind, don't be too shocked if (the history book mentions me) I pair John Laurens with someone who isn't Anthony (aggressively winks and nudges).
