Chapter Twenty-Four ~ Vanishing Act

~Chapter Twenty-Four~

Any signs of the previous relaxed, barely radiating any threat, girl was gone within an instant. Chakra unfurled around her in rapid waves, cracks appearing in the floor beneath her feet. Electricity raced along her skin and her sharpened teeth are bared with every intent of destroying the summit brick by brick to find her prey visible.

The words Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned raced across the minds of everyone present to see just how furious Winter was.

Fists clenched and veins racing along her forearms, the clouds overhead churned. White Zetsu was gasping for air whilst still managing to laugh hysterically. "Tell me where he is!" She roared, the floor starting to give way under her feet from the sheer amount of chakra emitting from her body. "Are you angry?" White Zetsu cackled before choking as the teenager tightened her grip, her fingernails digging into his neck.

"I am ready to burn this world down if it means Sasuke Uchiha will turn to ashes in the inferno."

The Raikage studied the girl with narrowed eyes. He would've thought that most Leaf Ninjas would want to protect the rogue Uchiha after seeing the boy name Naruto plead with him to spare Sasuke's life. But looking at the pure, raw rage visible throughout Winter, made him want to smile. It looked as if there was someone out there who wanted to kill Sasuke as much as he did... if not more.

"F-Fine I'll tell you where he is." The strangled voice of White Zetsu sounded out, Winter dropping him to the ground as soon as he recited the exact placing of the ninja. Bit by bit her stance relaxed; her shoulders loosened, her hair drifted back down, the chakra faded away rapidly and her hands hung loosely at her side.

She turned on her heel, her hair whipping around as she strode towards the door. She seemed to be... calm. Completely and perfect calm. Or least she did until the Five Kages and their bodyguards caught a glimpse of the hurricane in her eye.

One by one the samurai were slaughtered as the black haired male sliced through them with ease. His three teammates peered down from above, the red haired female shivering as she felt something brush at the edges of her senses. It was cold, unyielding and was gone as quickly as it appeared. Her eyebrows furrowed as she felt it once more, then again and again, each time the length between the small spurts growing shorter. She wouldn't dare call this chakra, it was too hard, too blank, to be a source of chakra. Her fingers dug into the soft fabric of her shirt as she felt it again, except this time it didn't vanish and it only grew worse. It was a like a bucket of frigid water was dumped onto her before she was lit ablaze.

Her mouth dropped slightly. "No... no that's not possible..." Her teammates glanced at her, two different levels of confusion on their face. "This... this feeling is supposed to be a myth."

"There is nothing stronger in this world than the bond of anger, regret and vengeance all wrapped into one. If you ever discover this feeling is tangible don't even bother trying to fight, just run and hope you're fast enough to get away. But even then they'll find you... so I hope you have no regrets.

After all this is the feeling of someone who fell down into deepest, darkest pit of Hell, and thrived there."

The only warning was a light shift in the air before the sound of metal grating on metal sounded out. Dust settled and red eyes stared into the growing storm of another, both face's perfectly void of emotion. The air grew heavy and then the soft drip of a single drop of blood fell onto the floor, the sound seeming to resonate across the room. Two figures stood less than ten feet away from each other, each having their katana's in their hands.

A thin cut had appeared on Sasuke's cheek, courtesy of her blade named Riku. Her tongue darted across her lips, the same threatening stature Eien had observed a day ago appearing as her body began to hum with electricity. "Sasuke..." She purred out, a rough underlying tone to her voice. "I've been waiting so long for this moment to come." Her voice slowly grows darker with each word, the last sentence dripping with thick venom. "How I've longed to take those eyes of yours away."

Time stood still as the ex-teammates stared at each other, the Sharingan starting to spin and lightning flashing across the hurricane as a small tsunami rose somewhere within the chaotic mess that was her eye.

And then, they fought.

It was a flurry of metal, inky black, lightning and narrowed eyes. Sparks flew, blood was shed and the amount of chakra radiating from the two young shinobi only grew in numeral amounts. Their blades became locked as the two pushed against the other, trying to overpower their opponent.

"Don't tell me you just came here because I killed your sensei." Sasuke sneers, his eyes flickering a blood red as he tries to use Genjutsu. Her own eye simply narrows as anger sparks inside of her, coiling around her stomach and making a white hot feeling boil. "Don't be ridiculous..." She murmurs lowly as she shifted her foot slightly. "I came here because I had a meeting with the Kages, you were just an added bonus." Her head leans back before whipping forward, the two butting heads harshly. Black spots dance along the vision of the two, but for someone who already has half of her vision in black, this didn't stop WInter from ramming the butt of her katana into Sasuke's stomach.

A soft 'oof' admits from his mouth and he slides back. He wipe blood away from his forehead and smirks arrogantly at her. "Let me guess, you're also mad that I kill your fiance." Images flash through his mind as he remembers the time that Winter had fainted in his apartment after saying that she was no longer the girl was in an arranged marriage.

Dead silence followed his statement as Winter looks at him incredulously. Her lips twitch and her shoulders start to shake, her head dipping down. Sasuke tilted his head slightly, confusion flashing through him.

Winter throws her head back and begins to laugh out loud, a rich sound that rings throughout the air. Her shoulders shake from the force of her laugh, her grip loosening on her katanas, a look of complete and utter amusement on her face. "Oh poor little Sasuke, you thought Itachi was my fiance?" She snickers and looks at him, her eye glittering with what looked like a tear that must've formed from the pure force of her laughter. She twirls her katanas around lazily in a circle, the black blades gleaming.

"I would've thought by now that you would look through your clan records, teme." She points one katana at him, the other hanging loosely by her side. "Didn't you ever wonder why our parents always made us hang out together whenever I visited the Leaf Village? Or why your mother liked me so much, despite the fact that I used to be a pretty likable person?"

He takes a step back and shakes his head slowly. "They would've told me..."

She snickers again, "They were supposed to tell you on your tenth birthday. But they didn't survive long enough to tell you they were engaged..." Sharp teeth flash wickedly at him as Winter gains looks rival of a wolf stalking down their prey.

"To me."

***

By the time the other Kages arrived where Winter had gone they found the remnants of a room that was completely destroyed. There were no bodies to speak of, only a few tell tale drops of scarlet blood dotting the ground, and later that day Sasuke was found alive although he seemed shaken up.

That same day Danzo was killed by the Uchiha, the real Hokage waking up from her coma with a start. That day the king of the Land of Snow was found brutally murdered in his own chambers, the symbol of the Shadow Village painted on his wall by his own blood. Within the next few weeks Winter was the main focus of attention for she had been cleared in all the major villages- the truth coming out as each Kage addressed their village admitting that she had been sent to destroy the coliseum. Many Leaf ninja strained their heads anytime someone came to the village gates, wondering if it was her coming back.

However the last day anyone saw Winter Ookami was at the Kage Summit, because true to her word, she vanished without a trace.

There were speculations that flew around: she was done being a ninja, she was actually a bounty hunter now, she had dyed her hair and changed her name and became a civilian, that Sasuke Uchiha had managed to kill her at the Five Kage Summit.

Never to be seen again... or least that's what people thought.
