The secret room pt. 2 (Remus)

Guess who's back, back again. I had not intended on taking such a long break but what's done is done. I hope you enjoy today's update and I'll see you at the end!

Sweat poured down Remus' face as heat smacked him in the face. His mouth was dry and he longed for the cool taste of water. This wasn't the first time he had longed for water while he became overwhelmed by heat. The first time this had happened was after Virgil had told him of his destiny. That week he had faced hardships like no other. Through the months the training had gotten increasingly difficult and, more than once, Remus has considered quitting.

Remus wasn't even sure what his training was for, Virgil refused to tell him. Each day he was required to wake up at ungodly hours and go for a run with Virgil. At first he had barley been able to keep up with Virgil but now he was able to keep up with him, a truly amazing achievement to Remus.
As soon as Remus was able to keep up with Virgil more things were added to Remus' training. Each time he was able to keep up with Virgil something else was added.
His current training exercises was him trying to stay by a fire longer than Virgil. At first Remus thought it would be easy but it had proven increasingly difficult. Imagine having to sit by open flames for hours upon hours. I doubt you would have found it easy.

Remus backed away in defeat, not being able to handle the heat any longer. Beside him sat a bucket of water and he quickly plunged his head into the cool water before taking huge chugs of it.

Virgil laughed in amusement as he watched Remus pant much like a dog would.

Once Remus had his fill of water he turned to the smiling and slightly sweaty Virgil.

"What's even the point of this?" Remus asked in agitation.

Virgil looked Remus up and down before looking away in thought.

"Perhaps a trip to the library would do you some good"

Remus stared in disbelief at Virgil. Despite knowing him for almost a year Remus still found Virgil as puzzling as he had when they first met. But he had learned that when Virgil said something he meant it which is why he, without a word, stood and made way for the library.

One he was at the library he began cursing at Virgil, even thought Virgil was no where to be seen.

Much like with his training he had no idea why he was here but he tried to complete the task anyway. Remus picked up almost every book he came across hoping something would ring a bell in his head telling him that this was what Virgil wanted him to find. But alas that moment never came.

In his frustrating he began throwing the neatly stacked books onto the floor. Soon the shelves were barren and his breathing was coming in deep pants.

Once he calmed himself he realized what he had done and began putting the books back on the shelves. Before he even had half the books back onto the shelves he saw a leaver. He looked around him before slowly inching towards the leaver. As he neared it a sinister smile formed on his lips. His hand latched onto the leaver and he pushed it down.

Just as it had done for Roman the book shelf moved with a groan. Remus watched in amazement as the shelves rotated, revealing a secret room. As soon as the shelf clicked shut Remus pulled the lever down once more.

This time instead of just standing there he jumped onto the book shelf, just as Roman had, and jumped off once he was on the other side.

Remus stared at the dustless room in wonder. His eyes drifted over the balls of floating light and bottles of bubbling liquids. The whole place screamed magic and Remus was ready to take in everything the room had to offer.

Remus ran his hand over everything he could touch wither it be a bottle or the wall itself. He opened each book and read them to the best of his ability, a lot of them being in a different language.

As he placed down yet another book something caught his eye. It was another book, but something about it was different. It had a sleek black cover that shined in the bluish light. Gold designed the cover and bonded the book tightly with a gold clasp. The book look strangely abandoned as if it was meant for something great but was left behind as something else filled its role.

It was a strange thing to Remus to feel as if this book had a story and for that reason he picked up the book and made his way back to Virgil. On his way back he admired the clasp that held the book shut. He faintly wondered if he could even get the book open but didn't dwell on the thought very long.

As he made it back to his room, the one they had been training in, he saw Roman. A grim feeling spread throughout him as he watched Roman walk by him. It had been almost 8 months since Patton's death and barley anyone had seen Roman. They had thought he had been grieving but each time they saw him he seemed even happier than when Patton was alive.

It made Remus feel uneasy each time he saw Roman. Remus knew that Patton meant a lot to Roman and he knew that Patton's death was going to take a huge toll on Roman and so he understood why he hadn't been seeing a lot of his brother. But when his brother made his first appearance there was no grief in his eyes. He acted as he always had and it didn't set right with Remus.

He wanted to confront Roman about it but he knew, even if they were brothers, he had no right to prod at Roman's behavior. Remus knew he didn't get the privilege but he could still silently ponder.

Roman barley noticed Remus, if he noticed at all, and was soon out of sight. Remus let out a sigh as he pushed his door open, silently wishing he could talk to Roman.

Remus expecting to see Virgil waiting for him, like he always did when he sent Remus somewhere, but found that Virgil was no where to be found. Remus thought that perhaps he had been gone longer than he thought and Virgil had gotten tired of waiting for him. Some thing in Remus told him that he hadn't been gone long and that Virgil should be waiting but that part of him was small and he barley ever listened to it.

Remus plopped his self onto his bed and stared up at his ceiling. It only took him a couple seconds before becoming bored of looking pointlessly at the ceiling. The first thing he thought to do was grab the book. That wasn't something Remus would normally think of but something about the book was drawing Remus to it.

Remus set the book in his lap. Before even making a move to open it he began tracing his finger over the gold swirls that designed the front. Doing this he realized that, unlike the other books, this one had no title. Where a title would/should have been was gold. Remus looked past this small detail and reached for the clasp.

He didn't expect the clasp to come off with ease but he hadn't expected it to be as stubborn as it was. He pulled and pulled but it wouldn't budge. At one point he even tried holding the book down with his feet and pulling. Nothing he tried seemed to work.

In a wave of frustration he threw the book at the door, immediately regretting it. Just as he had thrown it the door began to open. Before the book could hit the person coming in it froze mid air.

Remus looked at the book in amazement before looking down at his own outstretched hand. Remus once again looked back up but this time at the person who had walked in, Logan.

Logan started at Remus' golden eyes and then at the floating book before slamming the door shut. Remus, in surprise, stopped whatever magic he has been using and the book fell, luckily it hadn't carried out the action it had been in previously or it would have hit Logan.

"What was that!?" Logan questioned in bewilderment.

"Magic?" Despite having been the one to stop the book Remus still wasn't sure if what has happened had been real.

"I get that, but- How?" Logan's brain was trying to catch up with his eyes, he couldn't believe what he had just witnesses.

"I have no idea..." Remus spoke the truth. He truly had no idea how he had done what he had. Well he almost had no idea. The same small part of his brain that found Virgil's absence strange knew that Virgil's training had something to do with this sudden usage of magic.

It sure has been a long time since there's been and update huh? I'm sorry for those of you who have been waiting. I'm going to try and get back into the groove but as most of you may know summer is almost here so it's going to be a lot harder for me to get out updates but I'm going to try. I'm actually going on a family trip soon so during that week there's probably not going to be any updates. I know I know I come back then I leave. Trust me I really am sorry. Well I hope you have a wonderful day, afternoon, or night! Until next time you beautiful beans!
