The lotus

I feel asleep again, Oof. Anyway I hope you like today's update and I'll see you at the end!

"I call dibs" Roman stated as he walked along with Virgil and Logan.

"Oi! You can't call dibs and if anyone should be able to call dibs it's me! I am the one who's been tracking them."

Logan chuckled as Roman and Virgil argued about who should get the first hit. Logan could care less about who would be hitting the sorcerer, as long as he didn't get away.

"You know what, let's let Logan decide! Logan!" Roman yelled out to his friend.

Logan looked at Roman, cocking an eyebrow. Normally Logan would have been un-interested but today he was just feeling really good. He didn't know why, but he did. He could tell that both Virgil and Roman felt the same way, there hint being the bickering.

"I don't see why it matters, just as long as we catch him."

Roman rolled his eyes as he turned away from Logan.

"What he meant to say was I should be the one to get the first hit."

As Virgil and Roman bickered and Logan listened, a certain sorcerer was hurriedly packing his things, clearly wanting to leave.

The sorcerer had flaming red hair that went down to her waist, and her eyes an emerald green. Her skin was a milky color and hosted an array of freckles. She wore a white v-neck shirt that puffed out at the sleeves. Along with that she wore a dark green skirt that was above the waist, a little ways below the bodis. On top the dark green skirt was a translucent layer of brighter green cloth.

All in all she was extremely beautiful and terrified didn't look good on her. She hastily grabbed books and bottles, shoving them into a brown satchel given to her by her mother. She quickly inspected her home before heading towards the door. Before she could make it there the door burst open, and soldiers came flooding in.

Tears welled up in her eyes as her body shook violently and terror covered every inch of her face. She backed away and let out a yelp as she bumped into her work station. She quickly grabbed a bottle of the desk and threw it's contents at the soldiers and made a run for the door. The smoke made it almost impossible to see but not everyone had been in the room when the smoke had arisen.

The sorcerer collided with a man, falling on the ground from the impact. The man smiled down at the fair maiden. She tried backing away once more but was stopped by another soldier, this one much more lanky than the other. She looked up at the lanky soldier in terror before trying to back away from him. She, of course, bumped into the buffer man from behind.

The man pulled her up by her flaming hair while she yelped in pain. He then grabbed her hands, holding them tightly behind her back. She started shouting out for help, occasionally swearing at the people around her. Suddenly the man grabbed her chin, prying her mouth open.

"I hope you had fun because this is the last time you'll ever speak..." The man whispered sinisterly.

She watched it fear as the lanky one neared her, knife in hand. She closed her eyes, expecting the knife to come at any moment, the grip on her chin tightened and her mouth was pulled further down. She opened her eyes, trying to figure out what they were doing. Then the knife was lifted...

Logan and Romans bickering had died down and the atmosphere was serious. They were nearing the house. The place where they would find the sorcerer that infected the citizens of Terrasen. They were so close to getting what they came here for. They were so close to freeing the citizens of this retchide disease. For these last few moments leading up to the ultimate discovery they wanted to be silent. An unspoken rule between the three, they were not to speak until it finally happened.

The first thing that came into view was a small field of flowers than after that a very run of the mill cottage. It wasn't what Roman had been expecting, having expected a hovel of some kind. As they neared a garden came into view. The garden seemed to host most of the common vegetables along with some fruits. Again, not what Roman was expecting.

"Are you sure this is the right palace?" Roman asked Virgil as he looked at the well kempt garden.

Virgil nodded his head before a look of extreme seriousness crossed his face.

"I smell blood..."

Everyone stopped moving as there bodies tensed. Roman tightened his grip on his sword and stood a little ways in front of Logan, ready to protect him if necessary. Virgil was ahead of Roman and stayed that way as they neared the house, Roman had no interest in protecting Virgil.

Roman watched as Virgil pushed open the door just enough so he could peak inside. Virgil's body relaxed and his expression turned somber. Virgil pushed the door open all the way, so Roman and Logan could see. On the floor lay a maiden with fiery red hair.

Roman shut his eyes tightly at the sight of the lifeless maiden, as did Logan. Virgil however ventured further into the room, already over the initial shock. Virgil crouched down next to the body carefully avoiding the scattered papers. He gently grabbed one of her wrists and began examining the bruises that circled it. He set the hand down and began looking for the cause of death.

Roman watched Virgil's cool face as he looked over the body. Roman wished he could overcome the sight of death as Virgil could, but alas he did not possess that trait. Roman only began to move once Logan did, making sure to stay behind him. Being closer to the body Roman could see just how beautiful she was, the only thing messing with her image being her ghostly skin tone and mass of blood oozing from her mouth.

"Do you think the sorcerer did this?" Roman asked, anger slowly rising.

Who would kill such a defenseless looking maiden? By the looks of it this could have been her home and the sorcere could have barged in, killed her and took refuge. With this observation Roman's anger grew, but before he could be overcome by anger Virgil spoke.

"She is the sorcerer."

Roman stood there, looking at the body of the maiden. Roman's anger quickly switched to her. Before Roman could really replay the extent of which the damage she had inflicted he began wondering how she had died. It obviously wasn't a stab wound, if it was there would be a puddle of blood around her. Unable to find the cause of death Roman looked at Virgil expectantly. When Virgil said nothing Roman spoke.

"How'd she die?"

"She was murdered"

Virgil then stood and left the room, not giving Roman a chance to ask further questions. Roman looked to Logan in disbelief but Logan only shrugged before picking up the book that lay in front of the body. He placed his thumb on the open page before flipping to the cover. When he found no words he flipped back to the open page and began reading the little bit or writing that was on the page.

Written in the dried crimson of the maidens blood was one word written with shaky hands. Logan traced the word with his finger as he mouthed the word silently. 'Lotus'. Why in the world would she write 'Lotus' in her last breaths? Logan hummed in thought before flipping to the beginning of the book, and began reading the books contents.

Roman watched as Logan traced his finger under the neatly written words, following along in his head. Roman made it through 4 pages before getting bored and started rummaging through the maidens possessions. Roman would neatly re-organize the items as he pulled them out. After about 30 mins the room looked much cleaner than it had before other than where Logan was sat, books sprawled all around him as he tried to figure out what 'Lotus' could possibly mean.

Virgil had yet to return during those 30 minutes but after another 10 he entered the room, covered in dirt.

"Where have you been!?" Roman asked in an aggravated tone as he stood up.

Virgil stayed silent and went straight for the dead body. Roman watched as Virgil silently picked up the body of the red haired maiden, taking it outside. Roman and Logan shared a look before rising and making way towards the door. Roman opened the door and they filed out, making it outside just in time to see Virgil lowering the maiden into a hole.

Roman and Logan starred in bemusement. He was going against the King and giving the sorcerer a burial. Logan spared a glance at Roman to fund him, still digesting Virgil's treachery. Logan and Roman stood there and watched as Virgil filled in the hole with a shovel he had found lying around. Logan kept glancing at Roman trying to figure out what he was thinking, hoping it had nothing to do with talking to the King

Logan and Roman watched as the hole was slowly filled back up with dirt, creating a brown patch in the green grass. They watched as Virgil picked a bundle of flowers and gently placed them atop the grave. They watched as Virgil got down on his knees and bent his head down ward, his eyes closed. They watched as VIrgil's lips moved in silence.
