Part 8: Arrival

I don't own the picture used.

Carol

I was walking down the sidewalk while memorizing the shopping list that my mother gave me. It was something that I usually did for my mother who had a last minute work shift. As I reached the store, I noticed that Bobby was working on the shelves and decided not to disturb him.

"Hm...I wonder if Lori would disturb him if they were still dating." I muttered to myself knowing how obsessed Lori was with him. Not like it was surprising due to all of their anniversaries that they had for the stupidest of things. Plus she basically had control of their entire relationship and often got into arguements if he refused to do something that...she didn't like.

Shaking my head, I continued on my journey before hearing Bobby call out to me.

"Carol? What are you doing here?" Bobby asked as I turned around to face him.

"I was getting things for my mom and I wasn't going to bother you until..." I started to say before he cut me off.

"Oh. Sorry about that then...I'm not used to not having someone distract me from my job." Bobby said which made a frown form on my face. How long has Lori been this way and why did Bobby allow it to continue? It made no sense to me, but knowing how deeply in love he was with Lori; it was clear that I would get no straight answer out of him.

"Well...I have to go. See you around." I said after a moment of silence. I wasn't planning on taking too long to talk to Bobby anyway. Unlike Lori, I valued how hard he worked and talking to him while on the clock would just ruin his hardwork.

If only Lori understood that while she was dating him. Oh well, I can always help him gain a backbone and stand up for himself. He is my friend after all. Nothing more and nothing less.

Lincoln

I was watching the waves as my grandmother, sister and I traveled to the island where my grandmother lived. It was nerve wrecking wondering if I would gain some new friends without getting overshadowed once again. Sighing...I wondered my friends are doing. I wish that I could've stayed with them...however, that would mean staying close to my former home.

Surely things haven't been going well for them ever since Grandma called the police. I quickly shook my head at that thought....I don't have anything to do with their current situation.  They brought it on themselves and will now suffer the consequences of their actions. I was cut off from my thoughts when I spotted a beautiful island in the distance.

I couldn't take my eyes off of it due to its beauty. Which was why I was startled when my grandmother spoke behind me.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" My grandmother said as I jumped slightly.

"Y..Yeah. I never seen anything like this." I said which caused my grandmother to chuckle.

"That's because your parents didn't want to waste more money. Which is ridiculous considering how much they waste on pet costs and funding your sister's activities. Sorry for leaving you and your little sister there, but it's extremely difficult to leave the island after all I am it's current guardian." Grandmother said.

"Guardian?" I asked.

"I'll explain everything when we're back on dry land. Right now, we need to get ready to dock." My grandmother said as she started to prepare while several questions started to form in my head.

Why would this island need a guardian?

Who lives here?

I asked myself as I started to head back inside unaware that someone was staring at me with some curiosity in their eyes. Hopefully nothing will disturb my new happy life here, but you know what they say....

Life doesn't go the way that you want.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter...Bye 👋
