Prologue

...

MARK LEE was your everyday normal teenager, well, on the flip side. In a world diverted with demons and humans, it couldn't get more complicated. Society was a big factor for this, as back then demons weren't even allowed to be seen outside as it was said to 'disturb' the human population. Luckily, demons became more free and outgoing as Mark grew older. Society was now used to demons, and there were now hybrids of the kind as human and demon collided. It was no longer strange or wrong to see one casually walking along a sidewalk, or owning a business.

Mark was a human, and from his perspective, it wasn't that bad. He believes demons are wicked cool, but his parents would disagree with that statement. He understood why though, as they were known to be rebellious and many crimes were acted by demons. His parents made him swear to never date one, but little to their knowledge Mark had crossed his fingers behind his back. How could he made a promise when he knew he would break it?

That was when he was 15, now he was 17. His parents cared less and he was becoming an adult by the days. During those days, society cared less and less about demons and crime as it became usual. The cities police department could care less if someone shop lifted or broke into a car, it was more so the kidnappings and shootings they'd care about.

Mark had snuck out, drank underage, smoked once or twice, and stolen. It was nothing special to him, as he didn't go to school and rarely worked. He lived in an old apartment building, where he would pay low rent every month. The pay was small and profitable for Mark, so he lived alone and his parents didn't care. His mother became an alcoholic, and his father decided he wanted a divorce. Mark moved out before things got hectic, and didn't know where they were know. Not that he cared at the least.

He spent his days going around the downtown areas, finding abandoned stores he'd lute or maybe a good meal. He had to admit though, he had never been inside a club or someone's house he didn't know of. He was still young, but not naive. He wasn't as dumb as most people were at his age, and he lived by that.

Mark wasn't alone however, during the summer he had found someone to call his own. He was everything anyone could have dreamed of in a soulmate; caring, tall, good money wise, and flirty. The only problem was, the boy was a demon.

It may not sound like much of a problem at first, but overtime Mark noticed that his lover was very possessive and eager to scent him. Mark trusted him, of course he did; why else would he have given away his v card to the male. However, scenting sometimes scared Mark. He's heard from rumors that people have died from being scented because their demon had lost control of themselves during the session, or leave them afterwards, neglecting them entirely. Mark didn't want that, he wanted to know that his demon would stay until the end before he would give away his being to him.

It was simply just a matter of time, with a push of course.

LEE DONGHYUCK was the definition of 'I'd charm you for a second, then kill you the next.' He was on his own since day 1 as his father and mother were sent out of the country by troopers. Of course, nobody did that now as it was a action of prejudice, but during the time he was growing up it was normal. He hated humans for that reason, and treated them how they treated his parents. He's been to jail, not long enough to ruin his whole mental stage though. It was an experience, but he would never go back if he admitted it.

His feelings changed though as he met a somebody, a somebody that had big bambi eyes, Cupid's bow lips and a cuppable face. Mark Lee was his name. Though, for the first few days he tried to deny his feelings of the other as he had just planned to use the cutie. Those plan quickly changed as he fell in love with the pretty boy. His curiosity led him into a deep void of wanting to know more, and his instincts told him to scent. Of course, he never did get to scent as the boy never let him. He respected the boys choice, but his inner self wishes deeply he could, and everyday urges him to.

Their first time was never like anything Donghyuck had experienced with someone. Mark was something out of this world in his eyes, and he couldn't take his eyes off him for second. For he was a beauty in real life, like a wilted flower that still had its color. It was dreading Donghyuck to stay with him, and secretly he enjoyed every second.

Although, the said male would never know the struggle he would go through to just have the boy scented. He would just have to find out, wait for fate, and see.

How hard can it be when your mate works for another demon?
