Chapter 1

In the Cosmodrome in Old Russia, we see many old, abandoned, rusted cars. A small diamond shape drone with a blue eye flies around scanning various cars.

Unknown to the drone it was being followed by a group of aliens. The tallest had four glowing blue eyes, four arms. Had a mask covering its mouth with tubes connecting to the mask and had a red cape with a white symbol on it. It was carrying what appear to be a sniper rifle.

The tallest aliens orders his squad to move towards the drone.

The first alien of the group was shorter than its commander but was taller than it comrade. The first alien had four glowing blue eyes, four arms. A mask covering its mouth, what appeared to be horns sticking out on both sides of its head and wore a red cape with a white symbol on it. It was carrying what appear to be a rifle.

The final alien of the group was shorter than the other two aliens. The final alien had four glowing blue eyes, two arms as the lower two arms were docked. Its mouth was exposed, what appear to be horns on the left side of its face. It also had a brown mohawk. It was carrying what appear to be a pistol and a dagger in the other hand.

The drone continues to scan cars before stopping to scan a skeleton inside of a car.

Drone( in a synthetic male voice): Ouch!

The drone flys past the car before stopping.

Drone: It is possible?

The drone open up and continues scanning .

Drone: There you are!

(A/N: For those who haven't played Destiny before I recommend you watch this as it shows what I'm trying to describe)

The drone flies towards what it scan. Once it arrive it saw a skeleton but this skeleton look too small for an adult. It was a child, his Guardian was a child. The drone scans the skeleton making sure if what it scan earlier was correct. After scanning the skeleton again, the scan came back positive.

Drone(sighs): I can't revive someone so young into this world.

The drone sighs again and flies away from the skeleton but stop when it got an idea. The drone flies back towards the skeleton.

Drone: I know this is against protocol but I've spend centuries looking for my Guardian and I'm done searching.

The drone shines a blue light over the skeleton and muscles, tissues and then organs start to grow on the skeleton. Then flesh starts forming over the muscles, tissues and organs. Once the flesh had finish covering the body. The drone shines another blue light over the body and the body starts growing. Once the body had stop growing, the body was now 5'9 inches tall, appear to had a slightly muscular build and had white hair touching the upper neck. The body now look like a eighteen year old male. The drone begins to cover the body in protective armor that it forged during it time searching for it Guardian. Satisfied with its work the drone begins to bring his Guardian back to life.

Guardian P.O.V.

One couldn't begin to describe this feeling I had, this... bleak, voidless existence, I... was dead, but my mind, coiled among the icy fingers of life, I couldn't breathe, at least I couldn't tell if I was. Am I asleep? I couldn't be paralyzed... and yet my world soon trickled life into my being, starting with touch.

Ice, cold ground, dust, it wasn't warm or embracing, and my ears soon rang with a winter breeze in my eardrums, that was followed by taste, my mouth was dry, tasting like centuries of dust and stone had made their home in my mouth over... a long time was it long? My memories are hazy and are slowly coming back to me. I slowly adjusted to the what I think is a helmet on my head, the rough fabric on the inside wasn't comfortable, but it was at least able to cover my now brittle ears against the cold. Finally, I heard someone call out to me,

Drone: Guardian. Guardian? Eyes up, Guardian!

A male synthetic voice called out to me, my eyes slowly crack open to the sun shining down on me among a ruined wasteland before me. It took my eyes a few moments to exercise blinking after a feeling of forever, they adjusted to a small cubic "thing" floating in front of me.

Drone: It worked. You're alive!

So I was dead, but how did I die? Or why did he seem so happy, judging by how he spun with glee, did he... bring me back somehow? While I was about to speak, my throat finally decided to cough out the grime that it had built over the years of death, as he continued to look at me with a bright blue eye which seemed to glow happily.

Drone: You don't know how long I've been looking for you.

After coughing out the grime and clearing my throat I finally spoke.

Guardian(in a mature male voice): W-what are you?

Drone: I'm a Ghost. Actually, now I'm your Ghost. And you... well, you've been dead a long time. So you're going to see a lot of things you won't understand.

Guardian: T-thank you for bringing me back Ghost.

Ghost tilts forward indicating a nod. I was about to say something but an animistic roar cut me off, the roar was followed by a few howls of the same octave. Which sent shivers down my spine. Ghost then looked from me, to the wasteland across the massive, rusting wall, then back to me again in a hurry.

Guardian: What was that?

Ghost: This is Fallen territory. We aren't safe here. I have to get you to the City. Hold still.

I was caught off guard in an instant, with Ghost vanishing into my chest suddenly, as I placed a hand over my chest plate a little shakily at the sudden vanishing act.

Ghost(in the Guardian mind): Don't worry, I'm still with you. We need to move. Fast.

Guardian(startled): Gah! Where are you?

Ghost: I'm inside your head but I didn't bring you back just for you to die again. We have to move.

Guardian: It going to take some time getting used to having you in my head but I...can't say I understand any of what I'm seeing or hearing but... I trust you Ghost.

Ghost: I promise when we're safe, I'll explain all I can but we need to get to the Cosmodrome Wall, we need to find a way out of here and fast.

Ghost ushered for me to move, as I heard another howl, so I slowly made my way down the aisle of cars, all rusted and overgrown beyond repair, clearly they had age more than me, seeing how I'm not a walking skeleton under this suit but the place was packed tightly with them all crowding to the wall, I wonder what caused such chaos.

(A/N: This is the armor Lincoln is currently wearing)

It didn't take long for us to enter the massive wall, the wind silencing in the moment I entered, as I passed up a flight of stairs to the insides of the construct, the sudden silence was greeted by loud, hollow groans from within the walls, sending a heavy pressure of uneasiness through me.

Ghost(whispering): Okay, I need to find you a weapon before the Fallen find us.

As I carefully climb the steps I needed to ask the question, well one of the questions that I have that needs answers.

Guardian: What are...Fallen?

My question was soon answered to a hall of darkness, and the sound of footsteps above my head, clanking across the rusted metal, with scuffling sounds too. Inside my helmet, I watched a small, circular radar light up completely red for a moment before the red moved ahead of the arrow and soon my radar was white again. From the look of things they were above me.

Guardian: I'm guessing that was them?

Ghost(still whispering): Shh, they're right above us.

His body appearing once more to aid in lighting our way but as we approach another flight of stairs, the hums of machines blanketing the sounds around us, my eyes drew themselves to a grate broken off the wall but I yelped in fear, something in blue shambled across the pipe, four arms and a creepy head, as they crawled upward, ignoring me completing as I nearly felt backwards.

Ghost: "That" was a Fallen. As I said before I didn't bring you back just for you to die again, let's find you a gun.

Guardian: You want me to...shoot them?

Not that I'm complaining about self-defense when my memories are still come back to me. I woke up to a floating robot, and now some some forms of aliens are out to get me but... killing is something I never did in my past life. As I never held a gun before and never shot a gun before either. The bigger question was could I kill them?

We moved into the next room and up some more stairs as Ghost soon appeared next to me. This time though, he was shining like a flashlight as he illuminated the path forward for us, reaching a catwalk that looked out into what was the interior of the wall, before looking towards me, the groaning of the massive insides of the wall rattling around us.

Ghost: Hang tight. Fallen thrive in the dark. We won't. We need more light. I'll see what I can do.

Extra Light would help as it was pitch black in here.

Ghost leaves me and heads into the distance and notice him working on something.

Ghost: Another one of these hardened military systems and a few centuries of entropy working against me.

As Ghost was working on whatever he was working, I had this bad feeling we're being watched. In the distance I noticed what look like sets of blue lights staring directly at me but as I continue to stare at these blue lights I noticed another set of blue lighst appeared followed by two more. I then realize what these "blue lights" were. It was the Fallen and from I could tell dozens of them. Suddenly, the whirling of lights echoed and soon the whole insides of the wall came to alive, alongside the scattering Fallen, I noticed some Fallen were slightly taller than the others, as two red robots flew past Ghost ascending up the wall, as the rest of the Fallen ran, some moving down the catwalk towards the side I was on. Not good.

Ghost: They're coming for us!

I quickly moved towards the rusted gate, meanwhile I could feel my heart begin to race inside my armor.

Guardian: What did you do?!

Ghost: I don't know but I do know is that without a weapon, you got nothing to defend yourself out here.

Ghost proceed to scan the gate and somehow got it to open. Once it was open, I stepped through the gate, I noticed Ghost was hovering over a gun next to a... pile of bones and a skull around it.

Ghost: Here! I found a rifle! Grab it!

I grabbed the rifle and held onto it as I moved around another corner. My heart was beating extremely fast, now that I was trying to make sense of what was going on and where I needed to go, since the roars of the Fallen were everywhere, all communicating to each other planning to kill me. What Ghost said next didn't help me with concentrating or make feel better as I'm nervous and scared at the same time.

Ghost: I hope you know how to use that thing.

Guardian(in a hopeful tone): I hope so too. Just... aim and pull the trigger right?

Ghost: Yes, its a standard model of the Golden Age, the rate of fire is average and enough firepower to defend ourselves against the Fallen, so stay sharp and watch your radar for movement.

Ghost(whispering): Did you see something?

I didn't but every shadow felt like it was watching me closely but we soon rounded another left turn, a short one at that, my finger slowly inched its way across the trigger without warning, as I felt my hand grasp the metal body tightly.

Ghost: Above us!

Ghost's call caused me to scream slightly, as I watched a Fallen drop down from above, its body rising high above me, with a smaller one hopping out from the pipeline to my left. The Fallen were quite toned, which explained their ability to maneuver through this place easily, they had four arms but the one to my left didn't, only two, last were their four glowing blue eyes.

Ghost: Guardian jump back!

Not needing to be told twice I jumped back barely dodging a swing from the shorter Fallen. I noticed the taller Fallen had his rifle aimed at my head but didn't fire. I then noticed the shorter Fallen was beginning to charge me, I dodge to the left and shot the shorter fallen in the left arm. It hissed in pain and try to shoot me with it pistol but missed due to the pain it was feeling. I fired my rifle again but this time I aimed for the head and a whitish liquid erupted from the now dead Fallen. The taller Fallen growled and fired it rifle, I jumped behind the taller Fallen and instinctively took out a knife and stabbed the Fallen in the back of the neck. The Fallen fell to the floor, choking on its blood and holding its neck with its upper set of arms, using it lower set of arms to grab its rifle. It aimed it rifle at me but I fired another shot into its chest, killing it.

I took a moment to catch my breath after just killing the two Fallen, but... I still killed them. Internally, I felt sick.

Ghost(inside the Guardian mind): Are you okay Guardian?

Guardian: No... I... don't feel alright. Even though they aren't human... I... I've never killed anything before...

Ghost: Guardian, I know that a lot is going through your head right now now and I said I'd explain everything later but in order to make it to "later" I need you to understand that these Fallen, the Devils, will stop at nothing to kill whoever comes across their way, I've seen what they can do and some houses are far worse than them. So, if we are to make it to the Last City, I need you to trust me and work together... okay?

Guardian:... If they did terrible things to innocent people who were just trying to survive then... I'll make sure not to fall the same way.

Ghost: That's all I ask, Guardian. Now then, Fallen up ahead, are you ready?

I took a moment to remove the clip from the rifle, I looked to see that only three bullets were gone, so I spun it around and slowly clipped in place again, hearing the click of the connection. I held my rifle tightly even know my hands were shaking slightly.

Guardian: I am now Ghost.

As I was crossing another bridge I noticed something, it was a green light and as I got closer appeared to a chest. I open the chest.

(A/N: This is the best photo I could fine)

Ghost: A loot cache. Let's see what's inside.

Inside the chest was a shotgun and a bunch of light blue squares that disappear when I opened the chest.

Ghost: A Preacher Mk.20, that will come in handy.

(A/N: I know in the first mission the player gets a shotgun if they chose the Titan and Warlock class and the Hunter class gets a sniper but I decided to switch out the weapons.)

I knelt down to grab it, placing the rifle on my back for the combat shotgun. I shook my head, knowing somehow Ghost was behind the reason I recognize the guns and how they worked in only a few seconds. Although I shouldn't be complaining, he did bring me back to life and gave me the guts to fight.

Guardian: Ghost what are Fallen exactly?

Ghost: The Fallen we've encountered are more like drones. Dregs are the two-armed ones and carry shock daggers and shock pistols. Vandals are the leans one with four-arms, two of which carry a wire rifle and typically stay far back, best to take them down by getting into close combat. We may also encounter Shanks, the red drones from before and would fire burst shots but are usually become easy to avoid.

Now that I had names to the faces and drone, which made my job a little easier-

Ghost: Vandals might also carry a shock rifle which fire three rounds burst and can track their target and Vandals might also carry shock blades, makes having that shotgun a little better if one get too close to slicing your armor.

Nevermind

Guardian: Thanks Ghost and sorry if I'm being clueless and asking two many questions.

Ghost: It's hardly your fault, given how you were only brought back a while ago, expecting you to know about the Fallen would be impossible.

I felt a little better, given everything that's happen. I continued down the hall, as I turn the corner I saw some red lasers were coming from the walls.

Ghost: Trip mines! Don't touch them.

I ducked under the trip mines. I then noticed my radar was showing red around my position.

Ghost: Fallen up ahead.

In an instant, a Dreg shot out from under the grate below me, slashing horizontally to try and knock me into the trip mines, I pointed the shotgun straight at its chest, before firing a powerful shot, causing it to fly back into a pillar, just as my eyes trained on three more at the end of the trap-ridden hallway, all firing their pistols down the corridor, so I ran to my left, heading past the pillars to their left, avoiding their fire until I was close to the next turn. Jumping out from behind the final pillar, I pointed my shotgun towards the Fallen directly before me, just as it screamed at the buckshot to its body. The others turned to look at me but I quickly ran up to the on my right, knocking it pistol out of its hand and grabbed the Dreg by the shoulders and throwing it into the trip mines causing the trip mines to go off and killing the Dreg. The last Dreg fired on me, striking my side and grazing my head, my armor taking the shots but I still felt the sudden jolt of energy hit me but it slowly passed, a white bar trickling back the small pieces it lost in that time, I pointed my shotgun and pulled the trigger.

Ghost: Ok, so I know you were probably going to ask this but your helmet comes with a medical display, that white bar represents your state of health, if you're hurt, you'll know how critical it was and if you ever see a skull below it, that means I can heal you with light but you might still have physical marks left behind, so please keep an eye on it.

My head nodded slowly to the information present. But light? Skull below the bar? Questions for later I guess.

Ghost: The Fallen have a tighter hold on this place than I thought.  Just a little bit further. Let's hope there's something left out there.

Entering a large room of boilers and control stations, I noticed two Vandals, one with shock blades, the other with a wire rifle, with two Dregs by it side while the other Vandal had another two Dregs by it side. They look at me as I entered the room, roaring in unison too. Taking that as my cue to run, I rolled away from the line of blue that struck the wall behind me, as the Dregs opened fire on me, so I switched to my rifle and quickly gave myself covering fire, a spray of bullets landing in the skull of a Dreg, its head bursting with that white-ish liquid again.

Ghost: Nice shot! Your left!

Raising my rifle to the block the blades, I felt my arms stiffen at the weight of the blades striking my rifle, yet I was surprisingly strong and so I hardly felt the strain, so I spun my body, throwing the Vandal to my left, before it spun on its heels, swinging both blades down from the left to right diagonally striking my left arm, my breath catching in my throat for a moment, before I rolled away from another lunge, my barrel aligning with its chest, I pulled the trigger, firing five shots into its chest and dropping the Vandal like a sacks of bricks.

I ran out from behind cover, ducking low to avoid the gunshots from the Dregs, so I slid down to my side, raising my rifle again to fire a burst of rounds into the Dreg before me, taking it down in seconds, rolling back to my feet to run from the gunfire. I ran around another pillar and once around I pulled out the knife I used to stabbed that Vandal from earlier. The third Dreg began to charged me and once it was close enough I stabbed it in the chest, killing it instantly.

I then grunted under the three shots hitting my exposed chestplate, I recoiled with my rifle, firing upon the last Dreg with ease, a bullet piercing its arm, then it throat before striking it forehead, throwing it corpse backwards and past the Vandal, who didn't hesitate to fire another trace shot, one of the shots struck my right shoulder, forcing me to a knee when I screamed sightly, feeling bones and muscles tear from the powerful, jolting shot but I shakily raised my rifle in my hand, firing a single shot through the Vandal leg, making it grunt itself, before its head came level with my barrel, so I unloaded the last few rounds randomly, causing it head to burst with the white-ish liquid again and its blood staining the floor. I watched as my wound closed in seconds, leaving my skin exposed through a tiny hole in my armor.

Guardian: Is this...light?

I wasn't looking for an answer from Ghost, my own fascination over this"light" was hard to describe. A part of me felt amazed that simple wounds or even near fatal ones could be fixed in moments, while that nagging question in my mind felt daunting to think of. What happens when I can't heal properly? Is is when that skull appeared only or would I not escape death again?

Ghost: Yes. Light is what you and I were born from. I was given life by the Traveler, it was the one to bring us back to life again and saved humanity from the Darkness and I used my light to bring you back to life. It can not only heal wounds but grant you a power we will know over time and even bring you back from death countless times over.

I... could come back? I knew this light was able to perform a miracle like this... but to escape death, that was possible?

Ghost: I know this adds to your questions but we need to move-

Guardian: I know Ghost, all of this is pretty amazing but... we need to find a way out of here right?

Ghost: Right but... I'm getting some strange trans-dimensional readings from outside this isn't good.

I threw the empty clip away, just as Ghost brought one out of thin air for me to carefully place back into the rifle and so we moved for the other side of the wall.

Once we made our way into the night, my eyes were beginning to widen larger than dinner plates at the scene before me. The Cosmodrome, as Ghost spoke of, was a wasteland, massive spires aligned in the distant horizon, with many derelict buildings the area, with cargo crates laid to rust in the mounds of snow, whilst old paths and roads were broken, cracked and gone due to time.

This was horrid, just...how many died like me to end up forgotten here? A sudden BANG made me jump and a red flare entered the sky.

Ghost: Incoming!

A blue portal opened in the atmosphere above up and within the moment, a massive, rusted color ship breached the air with a powerful blast of engine power, collapsing the support of one of the spires upon entry, as several smaller ships flew past it and over our heads.

All of the noise nearly made Ghost voice inaudible through the sound of the Fallen ships engines roaring. The larger Fallen ship was somehow shaking the ground from under my boots, forcing my body to stabilize with the barrel of my gun pushed into the ground to stop myself from falling, the rattling of the engines shaking my vision painfully.

Ghost:  Fallen ships! This close to the surface?! We need to move now! Run for the hanger!

The smaller ships were dropping off Fallen troops who open fired on me. I took out my rifle and opened fire on the Fallen troops. After a brief but intense firefight I managed to take out the medium size group of Fallen soldiers. The group consisted of six Dregs, five Vandals and three shanks.

Once inside the ruined hanger, I stopped to catch my breath and to reload my rifle.

Guardian: I...think I... had enough *pant-pant* action for my past and this life.

Ghost: Well getting shot at is normal for Guardians.

I continued inside the complex, following the small map in my helmet towards the smaller doors.

Ghost: Good news,  I'm picking up signs of an old jumpship. Could be our ticket out of here.

Guardian: And the bad?

Ghost: The Fallen are inside, only four inside.

It sounded like a trap, given how we had to battle through hordes to get here, I don't know why but I had a feeling this wasn't any normal Fallen like last time. My eyes blinked at the sudden flash of white light to my waist, when I looked down,  I saw a strange, sliver ball attach to my belt, with a few orange lines humming between the wielding lines.

Ghost: Takes this, it can only be used every few minutes but this Condensed-Light-Grenade or CLG should work. Although I have a bad feeling about this.

As I entered the actual hanger I saw the jumpship but it was guarded by the four Fallen, Ghost had scan earlier.

Ghost:: Clear them out!

Ghost called out with more confidence in not me but both of us, as I turned another corner, deciding to hold off on that CLG for... what the hell was that?! Atop the jumpship was a much bulkier Fallen, bigger four arms and held a big gun too, not to mention it tag soon appeared on my HUD, Fallen "Captain" great what next quartermaster? Besides that more intimidating Fallen, it pointed at me, leaping down from the hull of the ship, as the three Dregs came into view, so I pulled my rifle up to my eyesight and fired a bursts of rounds towards their legs, halting their separation, as they opted to stick as a unit, which made it easier for me, I latched my arms across a derelict poll, swinging my body around to avoid their gunfire and the buckshot of the Fallen Captain's weapon, before I rolled grabbing my shotgun with my left arm, leveling it to the three Fallen, time slowed for me, as several shots struck my chest, jolting my nerves and body with electricity. I screamed in pain but fortunately Ghost healed me.

Then I slid before them, I squeezed the trigger once, as the brute forced behind the slug destroyed their armor, killing the two in-front, before I kicked out with my right leg, knocking the dagger from the third Dreg, I aimed the rifle at its neck, firing four rounds into its head, watching its head erupt with that liquid again, staining my armor slightly. On my back, I kicked myself up to my knees, just in time to feel my ribs crack under an intense pressure, my eyesight now levels above the Captain's form, in seconds my spine broke my fall onto the concrete, my yelped of agony, replaced with a moan, followed by the hairs on my neck standing up at the sight of Captain raising its sawed-off shotgun towards me, four massive blasts of slugs melting the wall behind me to slag. I holstered my rifle, quickly loading the last three slugs into Preacher, pulling back on the forearm of the weapon violently.

This ends now. Moving to my feet, I scrambled behind a crate for protection under the Captain constant bombardment of slugs, the molten rounds ricocheting off the crate and across the hanger. I didn't waste time, curling my fingers around the top of the crate, pulling myself atop of the container and running off the side, flying right over the Captain, his shotgun is to heavy to push up with its other two arms in time, so I leveled my shotgun with one, firing my first slug through it helmet and shoulders, knocking the Captain to its knees.

When I landed behind it, I spun on my heel, digging my feet into the dirt, before firing with both hands on the grip and forearm, training my eyes down the barrel, then I pulled the trigger, the Captain managing to raise its own shotgun to block most of the fatal slug shards, then it ran at me, throwing a fist directly at me but I took this time for a light bulb to form in my head, so at that moment I ducked to my right and grabbed my CLG, I could feel a powerful warmth burn within its shell from the contact. I threw it right where the Captain was standing, curious the  Captain bends downs and picks up the CLG, as the Captain was holding the CLG, it exploded in a blinding nova of fire consumed it body, throwing its ragdoll form flying through the air, its armor now turned to slag. With a final sigh of relief, its body crashed into a pile of snow. Finally my radar was grey again and I felt my muscles release the tension of battle after the intense afternoon me and Ghost endured. Ghost materialized next to me.

Ghost: That was impressive Guardian, I think you got the ropes just fine.

His eye flashing with what I could tell was praise.

Guardian: I'm still new to...all of this but..."we" were impressive, if not for you telling me what to do, I'd been... gone a while ago

I complimented back, seeing his form spin around the ship towards the ship, his pieces tilting down into what could be described as a furrowed brow or irritation or both.

Ghost(scanning the ship): It's been here awhile. Hasn't made a jump in centuries. We're lucky the Fallen haven't completely picked it clean.

Guardian: Will it fly?

Ghost turns around and faces me, he looked... rather confident, nodding too.

Ghost: I can make it work.

With that, he faded into the ship, almost the same way that he was able to do that so far with me.

Within seconds, the entire jumpship whirled to life before my eyes, not nearly as overbearing as that massive ship from before but the power was still there, lights came to life again and the engines burned brilliantly once more. The cables suspending it above the hanger snapped off with ease as Ghost leveled the ship before me.

Ghost: Okay, it's not going to break orbit, but it just might get us to The City. Now, about that transmat...

My radar flashed a line of red behind me, turning quickly, my eyes widened slightly at the sight of two Vandals but through the massive hole in the wall, a much, MUCH larger Fallen crawled out, its orange eyes glaring down on me.

Ghost: Bringing you in!

My vision went from a dusky-night to a dark and blue space where my eyes watched from the comfort of a seat, the glass overlooking the outside of the jumpship, the Cosmodrome's sizable wasteland of planes and other machines laid wasting on the snow far below. It was a graveyard.

Ghost: We can come back for them when you're ready. Let's get you home.

The jumpship leaves the hanger while the Fallen hopelessly shoot at it.

Inside the jumpship, I was currently sitting in a seat while Ghost set the ship to autopilot as we're flying to this "City" Ghost kept talking about. I took off my helmet while Ghost appears next to me.

Guardian: So now that we're safe can you answer my questions?

Ghost: I'll do my best Guardian.

Guardian: You don't have to keep calling me Guardian, just call me Lincoln.

Ghost: Ok Guar-uhh Lincoln. If you don't mind me asking this but why Lincoln?

Lincoln: That's my name Lincoln... Lincoln Loud.  I remember certain things from my previous life, except for how I died or how I ended up in Russia.

Ghost(shock): You remember your past life?! Guardians don't usually remember their past live when there first resurrected. What was the last year you remember?

Lincoln: The last year I remember is 2016.

Ghost(shock): I can't believe... your from before the Traveler arrived. There so much we can learn from you as we lost a lot of records during the collapse!

Lincoln: Whats the collapse?

Ghost: The collapse was a cataclysm in human history that nearly brought the species to extinction. Following the Golden Age after mankind had colonized the solar system, the  darkness attacked humanity and pushed it back to Earth.

Lincoln: Ghost do you have a name or is it Ghost?

Ghost: I don't have a name as Guardians name their Ghosts after revival and I would like to be called something besides Ghost.

Lincoln: Well how about... Ace?

Ghost(thinking it over): Ace... yea I like it!

Lincoln: Glad you like it. I do have a few questions I still want answers to. First I don't remember being this old, as I was eleven when I died.

Ace: I had to age you to eighteen years old as it against vanguard policy to revive children. As the vanguard doesn't want children being Guardians as there too young to face the dangers Guardians face on a daily basis.

Lincoln: Then why did you revive me since I died as a child?

Ace: I revived you as I've been searching for my Guardian for centuries and I didn't want to be alone anymore.

Lincoln(accepting his answer): Second question, what year is it?

Ace: The current year is 2879. Which means you've been dead for 863 years.

Lincoln(eyes widen): I've been dead for 863 years?!

Ace: Yes, according to surviving records the Golden Age started in the year 2017 and ended in the year 2375 when the collapse happened.

Lincoln: What's this Golden Age you mention before?

Ace: The Golden Age was a centuries-long era in human history when the race had achieved a very prosperous existence, having colonized the entire solar system.

Lincoln: That must have been a good time to be alive.

Ace: It was until the collapse happened.

Lincoln: Third question what are Guardians?

Ace: Guardians are immortal beings, who are tasked with defending the Last City.

I was about to ask another question but I was cut off when Ace inform me we arrived at the City.

The city is a sprawling metropolis of white towers and compact block buildings that stretched out for miles. Throughout the city rivers snaked their way around the buildings while tramlines and monorails ran through the maze of sheets. The city wasn't without nature through as there were many trees and parks scattered around the city. Surrounding the city was a giant wall that was rusted in certain places. I was in awe by the sight of the Traveler and the city. I was tranmatted out of the jumpship and landed at tower.

Ace: Welcome to the last safe City on Earth--the only place The Traveler can still protect. It took centuries to build. Now, we're counting every day it stands. And this Tower is where the Guardians live.

As I landed in tower I noticed other guardians that were talking to each other or were talking to vendors while some were playing with a purple ball. Ace appears next to me. I noticed some  Guardians had big bulky armor while other guardians had slimmer armor. I then noticed some guardians had blue skin while some guardians were robots.

Lincoln: Hey Ace, why do some guardians have blue skins while others appear to be robots?

Ace: The blue skin guardians are called Awoken and before you ask, the Awoken were born in the Collapse, descended from the humans who tried to flee its wrath. The robots as you call them are called Exos and Exos were created during the Golden Age while their main purpose has long been forgotten. Exos are basically human as they have a human consciousness and have certain human characteristics such as: emotions, can feel pain, eating, sleeping, and have reproductive organs.

Lincoln: Wow.

Ace: Wow indeed. Now we need to see Amanda.

Lincoln: Who's Amanda?

Ace: She the tower shipwright, she repairs Guardians ships and sells new ships for glimmer.

Lincoln: Whats glimmer?

Ace: Remember that blue stuff that was in the loot cache you opened.

Lincoln: Yeah?

Ace: That's blue stuff is glimmer and according to your inventory you have 2750 glimmer.

Lincoln: How do I have that much and whats my inventory?

Ace: Well when you opened the loot cache you got 2500 glimmer and by killing those Fallen you got between 5 to 10 glimmer. The inventory is where you store weapons and items you have on you.

Ace: I've mark the way to the tower hanger as that's where Amanda is.

After reaching the hanger I saw an awoken man with other humans and a guardian talking to the awoken man. The awoken and the humans were wearing black and whites clothes. I didn't hear everything they were talking about but I did pick up something about humanity should escape a dying Earth before the darkness arrives. Something about sent a shiver down my spine.

Lincoln: Hey Ace whats with people wearing black and white clothes?

Ace: That's Dead Orbit one of the three main factions within the city. Dead Orbit believes humanity should escape a dying Earth before the darkness arrives. The other factions is New Monarchy who colors are red and white and they believe in law and order. They also want the city to be ruled by a monarchy. Finally the last faction is Future War Cult who colors are red, yellow and blue. They believe that war with the darkness is inevitable, whether humanity stays on Earth or attempt to flee.

After turning a corner and climbing a small flight of stairs, I see a woman with long blonde hair, green eyes. Wearing a red bandana around her neck with a pair of goggles, she was wearing a dark grey shirt but it was missing a sleeve, a brown belt and had dark grey pants. Through half of her right leg was torn exposing a mechanical leg. I'm guessing this is Amanda.

Amanda(in a Texan accent/looking over Lincoln ship): Geez...Who's wreck is this? Looks like it hasn't been used in...hundreds of years.

Amanda looks at her workers which consists of a group of men in grey, oil-splatter jumpsuits.

Amanda: Well don't just stand there lazing about, go see who owns this ship!

Workers: Yes, Miss Holiday!

Amanda(sighs): God, bunch of lazy idiots the lot of them.

Amanda turns around and faces Lincoln.

Amanda: So, let me guess... you're either a new guardian that salvage an ancient ship or you wrecked your own in some awesome combat sequence and were forced to flee before your ship blew up?

Lincoln:U-Um...

Amanda(smiling): Don't worry, I won't bite. Name's Amanda Holiday and I'm guessing it 's the former.

Lincoln nods his head

Amanda: So guardian whats your name?

Lincoln: Lincoln.

Amanda: Nice to meet ya, Lincoln. Don't worry about your ship, we'll handle it here.

Amanda turns to her workers.

Amanda(shouting): Won't we boys?

Workers(shouting back): YES BOSS!

Amanda(facing Lincoln again): Now then I recommend you speak with the vanguard as they would want to speak with you. To get there go back the way you came and when you reach the tower plaza, there are some stairs going down into the Hall of Guardians.

Lincoln: Thanks.

Amanda: Don't mention it.

As I left the hanger and making my way towards the Hall of Guardians, some guardians were staring at me which made me feel uncomfortable. As I entered the Hall of Guardians I noticed a robot or frames as Ace inform me, with horns standing behind a desk. On the other side was a much taller guardian wearing bulky white armor, on his helmet is a horn and a broken one on the other side, on his shoulders plates had fur. He was screaming at something.

As I entered the main part of Hall of Guardians, I noticed three guardians standing at a large table with books and other stuff on it. The guardian at the end of the table was awoken man in big, heavy looking sliver armor.

The other guardian to the left of the awoken is an exo in thin, leather armor with a cloak covering his head. He had blue eyes and had pictures of ace playing cards on his armor, he also had a blue horn on his face.

The guardian to the right of the awoken was an woman, the woman was dark-skinned with an shaven head with pale blue eyes. She was wearing a high collared purple robe, on her left shoulder was a steel shoulder pauldron and had a necklace around her robe.

Lincoln: Um... excuse me vanguard I was told I needed to see you.

Awoken guardian(in a deep male voice): Ah, so your the new recruit that Holiday informs us about.

Lincoln: She told you about me?

Exo guardian(in a energetic male voice): Well your the first new guardian we had in about... three months give or take and judging by your armor your a Hunter.

Lincoln: Hunter?

Awoken guardian(with a raised eyebrow): Did your ghost not tell you about the different guardian classes?

Ace(appearing): I didn't tell him about the guardian classes as he never ask. Also my name's Ace not ghost.

Female guardian(in a monotone female voice): I'll start, my name is Ikora Rey and I'm the Warlock vanguard.

Awoken guardian: My name is Zavala and I'm the Titan vanguard and vanguard commander.

Exo guardian: Name's Cayde- 6 and the roguish Hunter vanguard. So Guardian do you have a name or still deciding on one.

Lincoln: I have a name which is Lincoln.

Cayde was about to say something but Ace cut him off.

Ace: You three won't believe this but Lincoln here is from before the Traveler arrived!

Ikora and Cayde had look of disbelief on their face while Zavala look frustrated.

Ikora: Now I've heard everything.

Zavala(in a stern tone): I'm not sure what games you're playing here ghost, but rest assured that-

Lincoln(interrupting Zavala): What Ace said is true, I remember my past life.

Lincoln tells the vanguard of what he could remember of his past life and how he woke up in the Cosmodrome and fought his way through the Fallen house of devils.

Zavala: I see... Well, it seems you've had quite a journey here. Not many new guardians who find themselves in a situation like that can say they've walk away victorious.

Cayde: I still can't believe you had ten sisters.

Ikora nods her head.

Lincoln: Yeah and I was the middle child.

Zavala: Guardian, may I see your weapons?

Lincoln: Um, sure.

Lincoln takes the khvostov (the name of the rifle) off his back while Ace takes the Preacher out of Lincoln inventory.

Zavala look over them while Cayde picked up the khvostov.

Cayde(marvelling at the khvosto): Wow...! And things still works?

Lincoln: Yeah, I didn't have a problem with it.

Cayde handed the rifle to Zavala.

Zavala: Hmm... The Preacher is fine but you'll need a new rifle.

Zavala walks up to Lincoln handing him a small card.

Zavala: Takes this to Banshee in the plaza, you can get a cheap gun for free with it.

Cayde: You'll need glimmer to get the good stuff.

Ikora(slapping Cayde in the back of head): Behave!

Zavala: Oh! Two mores thing guardian, Amanda Holiday wanted to see you about your ship and when your done with her report back here.

I nod my head before heading out, rounding the corridor to the plaza.

Lincoln: Do you know anything about Banshee?

Ace: Not much. He's an old exo with a spiky head, he's the tower main gunsmith. Oh and he fought at the Battle of Twilight Gap.

Lincoln: Whats the Battle of Twilight Gap?

Ace: Its one of the biggest battles the City has ever faced. All of the Fallen houses united to attack the City. We lost a lot of Guardians that day but fortunately the Guardian population has increased but not enough to replaced all those who died that day.

Lincoln: Whats the current Guardian population?

Ace: Well when the City was first established, the Guardian population was much higher at thirty thousand strong but with the all of the battles and the great disaster we lost fifteen thousand Guardians but that was centuries ago. The current Guardian population is twenty-five thousand.

When I reached the Plaza, I looked around to find Banshee, after looking for a few second I found him. In a small corner in the Plaza was a stall that had weapons on racks and just lying around. Behind the table was a blue exo with a spiky head. He was wearing a blue shirt with a green scarf and had black pants.

Banshee(in a gruff voice)Your new here aren't you?

Lincoln:Its my armor isn't it.

Banshee(nodding his head): Your the first new Guardian in about... three months give or take, my memory isn't what it used to be. So what do you need?

Lincoln(handing him the card Zavala gave him): Commander Zavala said I can get a free gun if I gave you this.

Banshee inspects the card for a few seconds before grabbing four different weapons. The first gun is auto rifle, the second gun is scout rifle, the third gun is a pulse rifle and the final gun is a hand cannon.

Banshee: So what do you want?

Lincoln: Well I was thinking of something more precised and does more damage.

Banshee: I would the recommend the Duke Mk.10 hand cannon. As hand cannons reward calm technique and sharp shooting.

Banshee hands Lincoln the Duke Mk.10 hand cannon. The hand cannon was small and could easily be holstered on his side. The hand cannon had six bullets in the chamber, had a slow rate of fire and had decent impact.

Banshee: Don't worry I kept the weapon clean and prepped so it wouldn't jam.

Lincoln: Thanks.

Banshee nods his head and begins to work on something.

After leaving Banshee I put my newly acquired Duke Mk.10 on my side and begin to head towards the hanger. Once I arrived at the hanger I approach Amanda.

Lincoln: How's my ship?

Amanda chuckled and jumped up from her seat like a coiled spring.

Amanda: Oh, it was an doozy! But it's the same ship you arrived in. Just had to change the fuel tank, the windows, the body, the coolant, the paintwork, the brakes, the thrusters, the accelerator, whole engine really. Good news is, we've fixed your ship like it was built yesterday. The bad news is, it doesn't have a warp drive, so your stuck on Earth until we get you another one fitted.

Lincoln: How long would that take?

Amanda(shrugging her shoulders): Dunno, the City makes it own but we only get new ones every couple of months, all which are pre-booked. So, unless you got another way I can't help you.

Lincoln: Thanks anyway.

Amanda: No problem.

After leaving the hanger I headed towards the vanguard. After informing the vanguard of what Amanda said about my ship missing a warp drive. Cayde walks up to me, handing me something.

Cayde: On that card is your living quarters. Your room is on the sixth floor and your room is 638.

I nod my head and leave the vanguard to their business. After a few minutes of getting lost, I finally made my towards my room. When I finally reached my room, I open the door and was amazed by the size of it. It was bigger then my old room from my previous life, it had a queen size bed, a 50 inch TV, a decent size kitchen and a decent size bathroom, a dresser and two nightstands with a lamp on each of them. Ace appear next to me.

Ace: So what do you think?

Lincoln: Its nice. Its way bigger then my old room in my previous life. (yawns) I think I'll go head and go to bed. (chuckles slightly) You would think that being dead for 863 years I wouldn't be tired.

Ace: Well we did have a eventful day.

Lincoln: Yeah. Night Ace.

Ace: Night Lincoln.

Lincoln gets into bed and fall asleep almost immediately while Ace fly towards a nightstand and enters sleep mode.
