I let out a sigh and leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees. Since arriving at the edge of the cliff, we'd spent all of our time watching the enemy train. Each day they got stronger and their numbers grew. The forces available in the Upstairs would not be enough. It was starting to look like nothing would be enough in the fight against the darkness. 

"Christian?"

I blinked several times and turned to find Will coming up to join me. We had agreed that everyone would take shifts watching over the enemy camp. One person could watch while everyone else worked on maintaining a shelter, fire, water supply and food supply.

"What are you thinking?" Will questioned. 

I looked wearily up at him. "You know what I'm thinking. Our side doesn't have enough manpower. Not with Angels alone."

"You want to recruit humans too."

I nodded. "I think at the very least, we should start with informing the Hunter's Council. The Council has contacts across the globe. We can recruit Hunter's groups from around the world, those that already know about and are willing to fight the creatures of the dark. I'm not saying we get innocent people involved, just those who are qualified to help."

"I agree. I've been thinking about it too, honestly. With the Guardian gone and the Upstairs out of reach, we're running out of options for rallying our troops, and I don't exactly think that the enemy forces are going to be polite enough to wait until we're ready for them before attacking."

I raised an eyebrow, unable to hide my surprise. "So you agree with my plan? You know that it means we will have to split up even more, right? Some of us will need to stay here while the others travel back to the place where it all began; back to Hollowdale."

"I know," Will replied. "I want it to be you and me that go back. The one thing we need to figure out, though, is how we're going to stay in contact with Carmen and Axel. I have no idea how we're going to do it. I would have mentioned this earlier otherwise."

I smiled. "I think I might have a way."
