・・・☆・ Fifty Five ・・・☆・ 

Yingyue did not want to go to her lectures this morning. She hadn't slept properly for the new neighbours across the road had decided to party into the early hours of the morning. Her husband who could sleep through an hurricane seemed none the wiser and that had annoyed her to no end. And to top it all of, she had her first bout of proper morning sickness not long after waking up from the short hour and a half sleep she had managed. 

So she was cranky, and the last thing she wanted to do was go to a lecture about the thesis she had made very little progress on. Especially when she knew all they were going to do is tell them all how bad their work was and to pull themselves together to try harder. She could remain in bed and the lecturer would be completely unaware of her absence. It's not as if she liked the man anyways, he had always been unnecessarily rude and rather creepy to her. All she wanted to do was go back to bed. Go to bed and take the biggest nap she could. She would attend the afternoon lecture maybe. 

"Baby, I brought you breakfast." Ximen used his feet to open the door of the bedroom as he placed the small table above Yingyue before taking his spot next to her on the bed which he had vacated only 20 minutes prior. He brushed his hands through her hair as she ate, twirling every third strand. When she had finished he moved to stand up and offer his hand to help her out of the bed. 

"Please I don't want to move" She whined, the bed being warm and comfortable.

"You have to move baby." He tried to reason and Yingyue was suddenly brought back to the first time he said those exact words to her. The first time he had called her by the petname she loved so much. She wondered if too he was being drawn back into that exact moment. Who would have thought they would be where they were now all those months ago. 

"I don't wanna. I want to stay here and cuddle." She pouted though it would seem as though the puppy eyes trick wasn't working that morning. Not when she was gently pulled from her sitting position onto her feet. 

"We can come back this evening and cuddle. I promise all you have to do now is stand there and look pretty, not that that is a hard thing. I'll pick your clothes out." Ximen's words were supposed to bring her comfort and joy and Yingyue wanted to have more faith in her husband she really did. But the thing was she knew that he was going to try and make them match as much as possible. Though she was pleasantly surprised when he came back to her with a pair of cream high waisted trousers and a red blouse. 

"I want my wife to wear her signature colour. It always makes her look stunning." 

"Stop trying to butter me up because you're making me to go to class."

"So why isn't Yingyue sat with us today?" Meizuo posed his question towards Ximen as the pair sat down on the same row in the lecture theatre. The row which was three rows behind Yingyue, the girl having chosen to sit with the few other girls she was friends with in the class. Ximen lent forward resting his head on his hand as he let out a little sigh and stared at her.

"She cranky that I made her come into this lecture." Ximen's words were accompanied by a little huff as he continued to gaze at her figure in front of him. 

"Are you seriously having an argument over turning up to class? Can't believe she'd be that touchy." Si commented from the row in front of the pair Lei turning around to watch the drama unfold.

"Hey, she's not touchy. Our neighbours kept her up last night and she's not feeling great." Ximen countered not even sparing a breath to his friend. He would not tolerate Si trying to say something about his girl when the boy had picked Shancai of all people to fall in love with. Yingyue didn't cause drama like Shancai did. Lei let out a low whistle at the words spoken between the two sending a look to Meizuo who as per usual was enjoying the scenes in front of him probably a little bit too much. 

The four very quickly turned their attentions to their phones as the lecture started. Three of the four getting the same notification as Si changed his relationship status to dating and then linked Shancai's account. Meizuo was quick to text Yingyue in the row in front sharing the post and his surprise. He got an almost immediate response from the girl who seemed to be in two halves with the whole declaring of the relationship. Firstly, she was shocked to see the boy declare it so fast on the internet, she wasn't even sure she had recently updated her own relationship status and she had been married for three months. Secondly, she was happy as long as he was, that was the importance of being a friend, as long as he was happy she would be too, even though she wasn't always Shancai's biggest fan. 

Yingyue did not pay attention to anything the professor said after his first statement. The man had said exactly what she thought he would; that he was disappointed in their work, that he expected better, and that there was much more work to be done on their thesis. Rather she focused more on trying to stay awake to the point where she zone off until the end of the lecture entering a more daydream like state so she was still awake but not overworking her brain. She had to be lightly shaken back into the room and it was not until she was properly outside that she spoke again finding the effort to talk something she just didn't want to follow through with. 

Yingyue rejoined her main friendship group as they headed outside to sit, the weather was nice enough to permit this. And it would have been a missed opportunity if they did not. However, Yingyue didn't get the opportunity to sit on the steps herself, as she was gently guided down to sit on Ximen's lap so they were chest to chest and her head eased onto the junction of his neck. 

"Take a nap Yeye, don't forget we have the doctors today." 

Author's note:

Yes I'm aware my timeline is all over the show. If I'm being honest I have no clue what kinda month we're on or what's going on. Just worked out they're supposed to be the first term into their university year which is what September to December in the UK. But I'm sure more than 6 months has passed in this we might even be at nine months I honestly have no clue. Right now in mine they should be at the end of their second term maybe even the year. Maybe? I have no clue. I'm legit so lost. I'm also completely iradicating the whole Xiaoyou relationship cause of OTP reasons but that doesn't even help. I'm so lost in terms of plot for this as well. Like I'm sure weeks have passed in the show but then it hasn't at the same time. 

Also I wrote this author's note after only writing the first sentence of this chapter. But hey they're having a baby. So that's a good thing right? 

Right?

Also I'm making up whatever this 'thesis' is I'm assuming its much like a dissertation which you do in your final year of uni. However, my course got rid of that as it didn't suit our style of course.
