Jing had been a busy bee in last week, setting up the perfect birthday party. A party with a twist. Though she would not tell anyone of the surprise. This included her closest friend YingYue. She knew the girl would understand and still support her irregardless of whatever she chose to do. However, she felt as though telling her specifics would cause the younger girl to try and prevent her from doing it. No matter how much Jing loved YingYue she knew the girl struggled with accepting certain decisions. This would be one of them.
Rather she called the younger girl around that night to get ready for what could be the last time in a very long time. She had gone all out having picked the outfit for the younger girl so that she could leave her a parting gift.
As the two girls sat in Jing's bedroom the music blasted through the room. It lead to a calm atmosphere where they could mess around and not worry about what the outside world thought of them. With bare face's of makeup and not much of an overall concern for what someone walking in would say they were truly relaxed. This would be something Jing knew she would miss.
YingYue was oblivious to the dilemma going through her best friend's head at the time. She was enjoying the moment thinking it was just going to be another night. Another party with the same result, the pair calling each other in the morning complaining about headaches and laughing at what they could remember from the night.
And soon enough the pair truly had to get ready for the night. This meant they actually had to get dressed and put together. But neither girl seemed to be in a rush. YingYue didn't want to have to get dressed with the rather simple thought, she didn't want to have to put the heels on.
Jing, well she was another story entirely. She knew the moment they started to get ready the time would come where she had to realise. Realise this was the last time in a very long time the two girls would do this. It would be the last time she spent this much time with her best friend so freely. It could be possible that the next time they saw each other and spent this much time together that they would both be married women, or at least one of them would be.
"YeYe, let me do your hair and makeup tonight, please?" Jing spoke watching as the girls face morphed into one of confusion. Jing hated doing her own makeup for an event such as this, it was a strange request. But she could never say no to Jing, especially when she was presented with the elder girl's best usage of the puppy eyes.
"Please, you can do mine." The older girl tried to negotiate and YingYue wouldn't have said no but this sweetened the deal. She loved to do other people's makeup, it was calming.
"It's a deal."
The two girls were cutting it close to the time they had to leave and it so happened that YingYue was arguing over the shoes that Jing had picked out for her. The younger of the two women's eyes were wide as she held the shoes in her hand.
"These look like death traps. My gosh Jing they're so tall!" She exclaimed rather shocked over the choice and unsure whether she could pull them off.
"You won't trip, you've been wearing stilettos since you were 11. These are not that high."
"These are higher than the tuition cost per year!"
"Stop being dramatic."
"StOp BeInG DrAmAtIc." YingYue mimicked back her voice an octave higher.
"YeYe, think of it this way, if you trip your knight in shining armour will catch you."
"Suppose so." And with a shrug the devil's contraptions were on YingYue's feet and they were making their way down to the ball.
"See you at the bottom birthday girl. Love you." YingYue spoke before heading down the stairs first. She was met at the bottom by no other than her fiancé to which she found herself let out a low whistle.
"Well don't you look handsome." She whispered having to still lean up slightly to meet the significantly taller male's ear, even with the extra 5 or so inches the shoes gave her.
"You are by far the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes upon." Ximen replied as they moved off to the side and allowed for the birthday girl to make her entrance.
"Oh don't Jing and Lei look so good together?" She commented as she watched her best friend meet the boy with the contrasting coloured suit at the bottom. She had no idea that they were dates for the night but found it to be a nice surprise. She didn't expect it to not be the only surprise of the night.
YingYue could only watch as her two friends took to the dance floor, she was stood with the rest of F4, Shancai and two of the younger girls friends.
"Do you reckon he's going to finally confess?" Ximen asked to the small group and as YingYue watched the pair she couldn't help but think the same. The twinkle she saw in Lei's eyes as he looked at Jing was the stuff she had heard about in every romantic book and film she had watched and read since she was young. It was like the stuff out of a fairytale.
"Are you saying they're not together yet?" Came Shancai's voice and YingYue couldn't help but turn to the younger girl. It sounded like the young girl was almost hopeful at the thought the two in question were not together.
"Not yet no. Hopefully they will be by the end of the night." Answered YingYue as she continued to watch the dance in front of her.
The soft music changed into another one destined for a couple dance. And as Ximen and Meizuo tried to answer what seemed like Shancai's very invasive questions. She had enough and the small amount of alcohol she had consumed in the time she was getting ready had soon started to have an affect.
YingYue wanted to dance.
And her poor fiancé had no choice but to join her.
"Dance with me." She spoke it was more of a statement than a question as she pulled on the hand she had laced with Ximen's effectively dragging him onto the dance floor. They very quickly morphed in a dance position much like they had been taught from their youth.
Six dances must have passed during which YingYue had been passed between her friendship group along with Jing, including one dance the two best friends shared together. She had been oblivious of the words passed between Jing and Ximen during their dance as she was too preoccupied with Meizuo and his inability to stop stepping on her toes.
'Promise me you'll take good care of YeYe.'
'With my life. Jing what are you planning?'
'I can't tell you, just keep Little Yue safe.'
And soon enough YingYue found herself back in her fiancé's arms as the birthday celebrations were held and the whole hall broke out into song.
The rest of the night seemed to almost be a blur after Jing's speech.
YingYue couldn't believe her ears.
"I've decided to give up my position as the heir to the Tengtang investment group to join Lawyers without borders. I'll be leaving for Paris in a couple of days with no intent for an immediate return."
So after a month of almost being completely dead on here. I'm going to try and get a couple of chapters out for this book tonight.
Thank you for being so patient.
