Chapter 29

The boys look as Taehyung disappeares from the library to run after Jungkook, leaving the room in complete silence for a good few seconds. The distant calls of the birds outside the windows, and the pages in an open book turning over slightly because of a draft rushing through the building tells them that time actually didn't stop.

"Holy shit," Jimin says, running his hands through his hair. "You guys are so fucked up."

Jin just pushes his way out of Namjoon's arms and dusts off his clothes. He's still pissed, but he also listened to what Jungkook said. Maybe the elder did use some petty bad words.

Yoongi has leaned himself against the table behind him and his fingers are pinching his nose-bridge. This is giving him a headache.

Hoseok is just straight up frighened, his eyes still big and heart beating fast. He doesn't experience a lot of conflicts, considering he has been living alone almost his entire life, so a fight like this was unexpected. Not to mention, he has never seen Jungkook like that before. So much emotion bottled up inside of him, just waiting to break lose.

"You seriously didn't tell them yet?" Jimin then adds, seeing he's the only one able to talk right now. Everyone seems to have turned totally mute, not knowing where to begin.

Namjoon runs a hand down his face, trying to calm down for a second.

"No, we didn't," he says.

"Idiots... it's not that important and it's creating unnesesary drama," Jimin sighs.

"Fuck you, you don't know how it feels to share something like that," Yoongi hisses and glares at the other. Golden-winged angels doesn't go through a terrible life on earth to end where they are now. Black-winged angels do though, meaning that Jimin has absolutely no right to be acting all mighty about something he could never truly understand.

Jin massages his temples and sighs, "how about you tell us then? I'm tired of all the secritive riddle talk."

"Me too," Hoseok admits in a small voice. They have been left in the dark from a lot of things, so maybe it's fair to share with them. It won't be long before they are in the claws of a demon anyway, so what do they have to lose?

Namjoon and Yoongi look at each other for a little while before agreeing to tell it all.

"Suicide," Yoongi statens boldly.

Hoseok and Jin look at each other, seeing if the other understood what that's supposed to mean. How are they supposed to make any sort of logic from one word?

Yoongi rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. It's clear to see that whatever he's about to explain is going to take a while.

"Black-winged angels are people who commited suicide," he cuts it out into piece, "everyone who dies of natural causes or accidents becomes white, grey and varigated angels. They go to heaven, live amazingly until they might get to earth and spend time with a human there. When their human dies, they go to heaven again and lives there or chooses to get reborn. Some can even choose to go disappear and turn into nothing. Not many do that though, considering heaven should be pretty amazing."

Yoongi nods a little to himself as Jin and Hoseok realize what he means.

"Oh..." Hoseok says.

"How about... we sit down and explain it?" Namjoon suggests. Since they will probably be talking for a while, it might be a good idea. They place themselves around the small library table, keeping a good distance from each other.

The tension is already strong, since a lot of truths are about to be spille. A lot of secrets are about to be exposed.

"You know the purgatory? The place where it's decided if you go to heaven or hell? But it's like, straight up toture if you have been bad?" Yoongi asks.

The two humans quickly nod, both of them learned about it in school. It's said to be the place to decide if you go to heaven or hell and it's not a nice experience from what's written in the books. If it's true, no human actually knows. It's set to have challenges you have to survive depending on how you have acted here on earth. The worse you have been, the worse the challenges.

"Well, there's a part of it no one tells you about. The ones who commit suicide. We don't go to hell or to heaven, we stay in the purgatory forever or until we go to earth," Yoongi says, "it's constant pain, constant torture and everything else terrible you can think about. That's why black-winged angels are so strong. We have suffered for these wings."

Hoseok and Jin look shocked. They don't think any human knows this unless they have a black-winged angel themselves, it's pretty freaky to think about. There's still so much they don't know. The whole thing about the humans having a spell over them that makes it impossible for them to tell each other what they know seems to make sense now.

"But," Jin begins, "I have never seen a black-winged angel before you guys. You are so rare but... countless people commit suicide every day?"

The two angels nod and Namjoon continues, "not everyone survives the purgatory, they simply can't take it. They think they took the easy way out of life, but that ended in more trouble than you can even imagine. They get send to hell where they will be stuck in Styx river."

"Styx what now?" Jin asks.

"A place for dead souls. Somewhere you can't escape from and you will just go around and around there forever. Most suicidal people end there."

"Shit..." Jin says. This is reaching way over his knowledge. No wonder humans can't tell each other about this, that way they won't be able to escape their destiny.

"So... how did you survive?" Hoseok questions. It's a good question and also one that's hard to answer.

Namjoon and Yoongi once again get eye contact and uses a while to think this through.

"We wanted to live," Yoongi says, "we commited suicide because we believed we didn't have a choice. The will to live and your survival instinct is one of the strongest features a human has. Almost everyone who commits suicide doesn't have that anymore... therefore, they don't make it through and they will either turn to a black-winged angel if they fight hard enough or go to styx."

That might even worse than hell to end in styx. You can't escape from there and it's just pain forever. The purgatory is at least only test you get forced through, it's not a punishment but a challenge which is tough too though. Hell sucks, but at least there's stuff for you to do and occupie your mind with, at least from what the angels know.

The room goes quiet for a little while and almost everyone knows inside what needs to be asked. Therefore, Jin takes a breath and is the one to break it.

"So... why did you kill yourself?"

Namjoon licks his lips and Yoongi scratches the back of his head. This is a tough one.

"You wanna go first?" Yoongi asks. Namjoon simply nods in return, seeing that he can't avoid it, he might as well get it over with.

He leans a little forward and rests his arms in the table, trying to find a good way to begin.

"I had a family, a wealthy one at that," he says, "my mother was very strict and she forced me to do a lot of things. She wanted the perfect son, which meant good grades, good personality and money. I had to get a scolarship and I had to be the best of the best... I guess you can imagine what that does to a person."

The others nod slightly, understanding where he's coming from, even if it's a totally different time now.

"It got too stressful and I found peace by hanging out with some... bad people," the angel gulps slightly at the memory, "but I kept being with them and got involved in a lot of shit. Drugs, guns, alcohol and you name it. I got into a very dark spiral and suddenly I was a part of a drug dealing group as well."

Especially Jin feels his eyes grow at that. Namjoon doesn't seem like the type to work like that at all. He seems way to composed and calm, but that's what stress can do to people. Make them take bad desitions.

"One day, a deal went wrong and there was no way I could fix it. It was for a mafia boss," Namjoon says, "already there I knew I was screwed. I would either get killed or be running for the rest of my life."

He takes a breath and folds his hands on the table, "so I overdosed on drugs. I didn't see any other way out and ended up killing myself. It wasn't as easy as I thought and my body suffered for a long time before I died. I thought that it was all I had left, a stupid decision, so to say..."

Jin looks down at the table, biting his lip slightly. Knowing someone's back story can be scary... frightening even. Jin hadn't thought it would be anything like this at all. Drugs? Mafia? It seems like something from a movie and sounds absolutely unreal.

"W-When did you die?" Jin then asks. He has a feeling it's a long time ago, considering something like 'mafia' is totally outdated. They have other names for such groups now.

"December 4, 2089. Without angels, without hightech cars and huge cities... just a normal day," Namjoon sighs slightly.

Immediately, Jin stumples over that day. It's clearly not an unfamiliar date for him. He has no connection with the certain year, but december 4 is a different case.

"That's my birthday..." Jin says. Namjoon looks up at him slightly surprised. He's lucky he can even remember the date of his death which most people can't, however it wouldn't be a surprise if there is a connection between angels and humans that way.

"Mine is february 18th," Hoseok says. Yoongi nods and pinches his chin a little, "I died february 18th, 2078."

It makes sense. You're born the day of your guardian angel's death. Another connection, even if it's not really a good one.

"By what?" Hoseok then asks. Yoongi takes a breath... guesses it's his turn to spill the tea.
