Chapter 22

"Where are we going?" Namjoon asks as the entire group stays one Jin's heels as the man hurries down the street of the rich city, heading for an outer area with woods.

You don't see a forest a lot these days, but there is a few areas spread around the city. This one apparently holds something they need. Something Jin is certain they need.

When the elder man doesn't reply. The rest of the guys give each other worried looks, trying to figure out where they are headed. Jungkook glances hesitantly at Taehyung who's already looking at him. The boy is obviously frightened, but only his angel has noticed so far. He feels how Taehyung's hand sneaks into his. If they hadn't been walking behind the others, Jungkook would most likely have been slapping the elder's hand away and choking him to death for crossing that line.

However, Jungkook let's their hands gently hold together and their fingers intertwine. He doesn't understand why it makes him calm down so much... maybe because he knows Taehyung is here and that he's safe. He knows his angel will protect him no matter what. That's what he said right from the start and so far, he has lived up to that promise.

"You're going to be okay," the elder whispers. Jungkook wants to believe that statement so bad, but every time he looks around a corner or he even just feels a shiver, his heart goes crazy and can't stay calm. Fuck this world. Fuck this place and fuck heaven and hell too. Why is everything against him all the time?

He just nods, knowing Taehyung needs that kind of reassurance that Jungkook is fine.

He's fine. Totally fine.

"You are freaking me out, you overgrown shoulder man," Yoongi deadpans as they go deeper into a wood area with only a few old, abandoned houses lying around. Jin, also known as overgrown shoulder man, turns his head shortly and glares at him.

"I will take that as a compliment midget," Jin says while stepping over a tree that had collapsed, "we're almost there."

Instead of having the backpack with all the drawing swung over his shoulder as any normal human would do, Jin has it pressed against his chest as if someone would come and rip it from his grip in a second. Just makes the whole situation seem more panicked and urgent.

Yoongi just huffs at the statement as the angels retracts their wings to not get the caught in some of the branches or something else around them. Hoseok squeaks at one point because he saw a spider or something and Namjoon almost tripped against a tree stump that showed up out of nowhere. They are just a walking group of chaos, it honestly wouldn't be safe to be in a radius of two meters around them.

"It can't be, it can't be-" Jin mumbles lowly, probably thinking the others didn't hear him, but they certainly did. Once again, everyone let's their eyes hesitantly move around and meet each others, wondering why Jin is acting this way.

They soon reach a huge building, covered in dust with trees and plantes growing on the outside, all windows are covered in sand or moss and the entire thing looks totally abandoned. Jin takes them to the back where a door double the size of a normal one is showing. Jungkook let's go of Taehyung's hand and arches his neck so he can look up at the tall mansion-like building.

"What is this place?" he questions as Jin fiddles in his pocket and fishes up an old key. No one in the rich part of town use keys anymore, they have face recognition as locks on their doors instead. So, this just tells even more about this place, even if it's location should indicate that it's 'new' and 'worth' of God knows how much money.

"You'll see," Jin says and enters the key. It takes a loud squeak and a good push to get the huge door open. Jungkook wonders why Jin even has a key for a place like this.

However, his thoughts are completely silenced when they push the next door open and a large room gets shown for them.

There is at least 7 meters to the ceiling and huge shelves along the walls are filled with numerous books from centuries back. It all looks old and outdated, dust is everywhere and plants have started to grow in through the windows and the floor.

"It's a library?" Namjoon asks, but more like a statement. Indeed, it's an old abandoned library in the middle of the woods.

"I thought they got totally rid of books? Only school books for the poor population where kept intact, right?" Hoseok asks as his eyes linger around the room. It's true, all the rich kids don't use books anymore, they use tablets and other fancy stuff. Actually, it's not even certain the last three generations know what a book even is. Jungkook and Hoseok only knows because they are poor.

Jin nods and immediately heads for a certain row of books, searching for something specific. In the mean time, the boys start looking around and taking out a few random collections to look at.

"It's been so long since I have seen one... books kinda got off the marked when I died," Taehyung states and takes out a familiar book. Romeo and Juliet. A classic for sure, that's probably the only book that will never truly leave this earth.

Jungkook, who's standing beside him, looks over with slightly curious eyes. When Taehyung died? How long ago was that? How did it happen? Jungkook can't help but feel extremely curious, but he decides not to comment on it. Taehyung has stated many times he won't share his past, no matter if it's important or not, so Jungkook let's him be to avoid another fight.

He sighs, because he really wants to know more about the elder. But he doesn't wanna waste energy, that prick can keep it to himself if he wants. He will probably get mad otherwise.

Jungkook let's his hand run along one of the rows, his eyes gently skimming the many titles. He has only seen three different books in his life and those are school books. These... these are works of art and therefore very different from anything else he has read.

That makes him stop and look at Jin who's still skimming through the rows.

"How come you have access to this place?" He asks out in the open so Jin can hear him, but also the rest of the guys.

The elder man glances up at him for a short moment before turning back to the books with a sigh.

"My sister," he states. Namjoon is the first to lift an eyebrow, knowing better than anyone that Jin does not talk about his family often and definitely not as freely as that. A sister? He had a sister?

"She kept the key hidden?" the raven asks and Jin shakes his head, his eyes still running over the books.

"No, she kept this place open for those who still wanted to read," he replies. Jungkook frowns and looks around himself. This doesn't look like a place that has been open for a very long time... but he guesses it makes sense. Whatever happened to Jin and his family happened a long time ago, considering the pain Namjoon has been feeling for years.

"Why did it stop then?" Hoseok asks, trying to keep the question open for many possibilities. Yoongi glares and Jungkook and Namjoon shake their heads at him, probably expecting Jin to freak out. However, the man has stopped his search and is now ripping out different books from one shelf.

"Yes!" he bursts out.

The boys watch with curious eyes as Jin rushes towards the table in the middle of the room and scatters the books all over the place.

"I found them."
