Chapter 2
Jungkook sighs as his phone starts ringing hysterically, indicating that it's time for him to get up and survive another terrible day in this trash can of a city. Motivated? Not really.
He's going to school today which just made it all so much worse. However, he's actually pretty serious about school because if he gets smart enough, he might get a scolarship and maybe even a job that pays more than 20 dollars per hour. It's sad that the dream of a 18-year old is to find a job where he can earn enough money to actually live a normal life. He should be dreaming of a nice car, a videogame console or maybe even the ability to travel the world. Tch, never in this world.
With a deep grunt he gets up in a seated position and starts getting ready for the day. He makes sure to pack the very small amount of money that he has so he can go shop some cheap food for dinner later today. It will probably be noodles again.
When he walks down the stairs and out on the street, he quickly looks around to make sure there aren't any familiars in the area before heading in the direction of the expensive city. That's what they call it, because it indeed is very expensive to live there. They have everything, fancy cars, big houses and robots that follow them around like slaves. Again, the world has changed a lot over time and the ones who were lucky enough to get born in the rich city now live a digital life. It's like they are in a totally other world, completely forgetting that other people exist and are actually struggling.
Jungkook's school is at the very edge of the city so it doesn't bother the citizens to have 'filty' children running around their legs. Pathetic.
They think they are so holy when all they will ever be are selfish pricks. Jungkook hates them, he always has. Luckily, there aren't many students from the rich city who go to their school, they go to a more prestigious schools closer to the city center. Good for them, otherwise Jungkook would probably send out enough death stares on a daily basis to kill a few people.
The raven-haired boy continues down the street, avoiding numerous street sellers and homeless people trying to grab him. He has to go an hour before school starts because the trip there is so long. He only encounters about five angels on the way and all of them are grey winged. That's probably the only reason why Jungkook hasn't commited suicide yet, he's afraid he will become a grey angel and be force to set foot on this earth again for another lifetime of shittiness. No thanks.
He can avoid this by connecting with his angel and they agree to seal a pact that will connect them forever both on earth and in heaven. It differs a lot if people do this or not, some just don't click well with their angels and will try their luck with the ones they are going to guard in the future. For Jungkook however, he will avoid calling an angel here to bother him for the rest of his life and just hope whatever kid he's going to guard won't call for him. Seems like a plan.
When he finally makes it to school after a whole hour, he gets inside and throws his bag in his locker, only taking out the neceasary books for his lesson. He's having English, PE and astronomy today. Not the worst subjects in his opinion. PE kind of sucks though because his class mostly just learns about wing fights and spends a lot of time in the arena where the battles often take place. Jungkook never really pays attention though, PE is the only subject he doesn't take seriously.
It's incredible how much aggression he's already feeling from being here, his movements with his books are way too harsh and he's certain his eyebrows are pointing downwards quite a lot. He just hates being in this part of the city. It's like he can smell the rich assholes mingling outside these walls.
When he's finally done picking up what he needs, he starts walking down the hall.
"Jungkook?" a questioning voice appears and Jungkook has to hold himself back from rolling his eyes. Crazy to believe he actually thought he was going to have a quite day.
"Jungkookie!" It's Hoseok again. He's standing a little further down, waving his hand happily as Jungkook gets closer. Again, it's clear to see that Hoseok is way too optimistic in this society and his overly blinding smile does not fit in.
"Let's go to class together, what do you say?" Hoseok smiles.
Jungkook walks straight past him.
"So mean..." Hoseok fake cries and looks after Jungkook as the boy disappears around the corner. The two of them have known each other ever since Hoseok moved into the same building as the young raven, and ever since then Hoseok has been trying to befriend him but the younger has been ignoring him every single time. They have never had a full conversation, Hoseok believes that the only thing Jungkook has ever said to him is 'fuck off' and that didn't really give the best first impression.
Many might ask why Hoseok bothers to follow Jungkook around all the time, but there's a reason for that. A reason Hoseok doesn't even understand himself. He sighs and heads in the same direction Jungkook just did. No matter how much Jungkook is going to ignore him, Hoseok will never stop trying to force a friendship between them.
He needs to know why he keeps seeing Jungkook. Not just in real life, but in his head.
It's hard to explain, but Hoseok often dreams about Jungkook and he has absolutely no clue why. He forgets. He forgets everything as fast as he comes to know it and it's still a mystery that he has yet to solve.
Jungkook has been in his subconsious mind even before they met each other and Hoseok was honestly shocked when he realized the person he had seen for years suddenly stood before him. That's why he's so determinded. Jungkook might hate him, but Hoseok just has to keep trying. Only that way, he will realize what all of it means.
___________
Jungkook falls back on his bed after yet another boring day in school and at work. All days, it's just the same. He's just running on repeat in order to survive and honestly it's so tiring he can't even put it into words.
He closes his eyes and feels himself doze off, even if he needs to stay awake so he won't wake up too early in the morning, he can't keep his eyes open. He's just so drained from the idiots that beat him up in school and Hoseok who kept following him around like a lost puppy. Hoseok probably doesn't realize that Jungkook is getting violated ever so painfully every day, only minutes before the elder starts following him around by the end of the day. It's always like that.
Jungkook has no clue why the other is so persistent, but it's getting on his nerves. He even told Hoseok to piss off today, but of course that didn't work. That male can't even get fucking offended. Again, he's too damn perfect for this place... so annoying.
Jungkook yawns and let's himself sleep for now. It's not like he has anything better to do, so he pulls his thin blanket over him and let's the salty tears live their own life for the rest of the evening.
