My first day of school, I'm so excited but I can't tell if Thomas is. He was fidgeting the whole ride to the school. His hand grasped mine as my mom pulled up to the front entrance. I looked at him, "I'll be okay, Thomas," I smiled he smiled back, "Who are you talking to, honey?" my mom looked at me. "Nobody," I stammered, "O-okay, have a great day at school, love." Thomas waved, "I will," I whispered before shutting the car door. "Have a great day honey!" my mom said as she rolled her window down to kiss me on the face. "I love you mommy!" I waved, "I love you too baby!" she smiled before driving away with Thomas in the back seat.

I immediately started to feel nervous, this is the first time I won't have Thomas next to me, I'm so worried about him. "Hi!" I heard a girl say. It was a little girl with dark skin and braids in her hair wearing a blue dress that fell above her knees, black shoes that were recently shined and white socks that covered a small portion of her shin. "My name is Markia, what's yours?" she smiled, "Oh, I'm Lisa," I smiled, "Do you want to sit with me at lunch?" "Sure!" I got so excited, I made another friend other than Thomas.
